THE SCIENCE OF CREATION Lesson Arranging The Earth and Heavens GEN 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. (Continued) 3

Arranging The Earth and Heavens 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. 9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. 4

Waters and Firmament 5

Waters and Firmament We need to discuss the meaning of Genesis 1:6 and 7 describing the separation of the waters and the meaning of firmament. GEN 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were 6 above the firmament: and it was so.

Waters and Firmament The popular interpretation of Genesis 1:6-7 indicates a separation of the waters with the atmosphere sandwiched between. This refers to the Vapor Canopy Theory. We will soon see that there are problems with this interpretation. The popular vapor canopy theory will be 7 presented first.

Atmosphere, Light, & Radiation 9

THE VAPOR CANOPY THEORY 10

THE VAPOR CANOPY [7;42;47;69] The upper waters represents a vapor canopy of invisible water vapor (not cloudlike) above the atmosphere According to proponents, the Vapor Canopy would: Produce greenhouse affect providing uniformly pleasant warm temperatures all over the earth. Uniform temperatures would inhibit windstorms. There would be no rain due to no global air circulation. 11 A mist would water the earth.

THE VAPOR CANOPY We see this mist in Genesis 2: GEN 2:4 the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, 5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. 6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. 12

THE VAPOR CANOPY Rain would have been unknown. The fact that rain did not fall on the Earth before the flood is supported by the rainbow being unknown until Gen 9: GEN 9:13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. 14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: 13

Pre-Flood Hydrologic Cycle [69;70] Pre-flood Hydrologic Cycle 14

Pre-Flood Hydrologic Cycle [69;70] The Vapor Canopy Theory assumes that the Earth was watered by a mist produced by daily local evaporation of ground water and reciprocation 15 (condensation).

Pre-Flood Hydrologic Cycle [69;70] Rivers were fed by underground Artesian Springs generated from deep underground waters under pressure. 16

Pre-Flood Hydrologic Cycle [69;70] Interior water would be under pressure from either: The weight of the rocks pressing down or more likely; Heated from the interior Earth. 17

Pre-Flood Hydrologic Cycle [69;70] The heat would provide the lift to the waters. Rivers carried the water to the sea where it would return to the caverns of the deep. 18

Pre-Flood Hydrologic Cycle [69;70] The underground water chambers would be destroyed by the upheavals caused by the Flood. 19

Today s Hydrologic Cycle [69;70] Today s water cycle, which is the basis of the earth s water economy, as well as the basic principle of the sciences of hydrology and meteorology, is anticipated in many passages of Scripture. 20

THE VAPOR CANOPY [7;42;47;69] We continue now with the description of the conditions of the early earth with a vapor canopy: With no global air circulation, no turbulence or dust would be transported to the water vapor canopy. The canopy would have been stable and not precipitate itself. There would be comfortable uniform humidity by daily local evaporation and condensation (e.g. dew and ground fog each day and night 21 cycle).

THE VAPOR CANOPY [7;42;47;69] Lush vegetation would grow all over the world. This is exactly what we see in fossil records, including at the poles. There would be no barren deserts or ice caps. It is well known that most scientists believe that the poles were of more temperate climate and that major deserts such as the Sahara were once lush and hospitable. 22

THE VAPOR CANOPY [7;28;42;47;69] The vapor canopy would filter harmful UV, cosmic rays and other destructive energies from space, including limiting the production of radioactive carbon-14, that are considered responsible for aging and fatal diseases. Without the vapor canopy (after the Flood), increased radioactive Carbon-14 production could contribute to a reduced life expectancy for man and animals. [28] The canopy would thus contribute to human and animal health and longevity. 23

THE VAPOR CANOPY [7;42;47;69] A heavy vapor canopy could cause increased atmospheric pressure which could contribute to health and longevity. Hyperbaric pressures may be effective in combating disease and promoting good health. And finally, the vapor canopy would contribute some of the waters necessary for the great flood of Noah. 24

THE VAPOR CANOPY [7;42;47;69] Geological Evidence for Canopy (Edward F. Blick, Ph.D.) Petrified forests in most deserts of the world. Coral reefs near North Pole. Coal beds in Antarctica. Frozen fruit tree 90 feet high with ripe fruit in frozen Siberia. Tropical animals found fossilized in 25 Siberia, Greenland and Alaska.

THE VAPOR CANOPY [7;42;47;69] According to this theory: The waters above the firmament is the vapor canopy. The firmament is the atmosphere. The waters below the firmament is the water on the earth s surface. 26

THE VAPOR CANOPY [106] Studies done by Dr. Larry Vardiman, at the Institute for Creation Research, show that a vapor canopy could hold not more than 20 inches of water without increasing the earth s temperature beyond livable limits. However, he also concluded that a vapor canopy was possible, and that canopies of any magnitude could be maintained by solar radiation. 27

THE VAPOR CANOPY Dr. Vardiman indicated that a vapor canopy holding only 20 inches of water would have caused major changes to the earth s climate. [106] It is possible that even a small vapor canopy could be sufficient to accomplish the climate conditions of the pre-flood world. Dr. Vardiman also indicated that further studies were recommended to determine if the heating effect (high greenhouse temperature) could be overcome by the high albedo (reflected energy) produced at the top of the canopy. 28

THE VAPOR CANOPY [12] Today, most Christian Scientists who have studied the possibility of a vapor canopy surrounding the earth are faced with scientific problems. It is argued that Genesis 1:6-8 does not explicitly say that a vapor canopy surrounded the earth. 29

Arguments For Vapor Canopy Theory 30

Arguments For Vapor Canopy [12] Arguments for a canopy: 1. Source of water for the Flood. However, as we shall soon see, the bulk of the Flood waters are from the fountains of the great deep. (Continued) 31

Arguments For Vapor Canopy [12] 2. Drop in human longevity after the Flood due to supposed loss of canopy. But, life spans still remained high for a number of generations after the Flood, and reduced longevity could be a result of corruption of gene pool over time. Keep in mind that the corruption of the gene pool would result in eventual prohibition of marrying close relatives. 32 (Continued)

Arguments For Vapor Canopy [12] 3. The pre-flood earth had a uniformly warm climate. It can be postulated that the evidence for a world wide temperate climate can be attributed instead to the continental shifts placing previously temperate climates in polar areas. This can explain why fossils of temperate animals and plants are found in arctic regions. 33

Arguments Against Vapor Canopy Theory 34

Arguments Against Vapor Canopy [12] Problems for the canopy theory include: 1. A canopy holding 40 feet of water would double the earth s atmospheric pressure, making the oxygen and nitrogen content of the atmosphere toxic to man and animals. 2. A canopy holding this much water could increase the surface temperature to about 400 deg F. 35

Alternatives to Vapor Canopy Theory 36

The Water Canopy We have already addressed the possibities of a vapor canopy and showed that there is strong evidence against a vapor canopy of any significant magnitude. We will now briefly visit alternative, a water canopy. a second 37

The Water Canopy We may have had a small vapor canopy. We may have had none. However, maybe the interpretation of the firmament is correct, implying an atmosphere sandwiched between waters above and waters below? Maybe instead of a vapor canopy, we had a liquid water canopy? 38

The Water Canopy [60] The liquid water canopy is proposed by Jobe Martin to be situated just below the ozone layer. He believes that liquid water would act as a heat sink, evaporating at the top interface with the ozone layer during the day, and recondensing during the night hours, thus removing heat. This supposedly provides a heat shield that prevents the unfavorable greenhouse effect 39 of the vapor canopy.

The Water Canopy [60] The Liquid Water Canopy would provide the same atmospheric climate benefits as a vapor canopy. 40

A Third Alternative [12] An alternative to the vapor or liquid canopy would include: Genesis 1:6-7 (firmament) speaks of expanse When coupled with expanse (firmament) of the heavens in Genesis 1:14-20 refers to sky, atmosphere, outer space, or heaven. 41

A Third Alternative [12] When expanse (firmament) is used alone, as in Genesis 1:6-7, it refers to the earth s crust. Therefore, Genesis 1:6-7 speaks of waters being above and below the earth s crust. (See Psa 24:2, 33:7, 104:3, 136:59, and II Pet 3:5). Several extra biblical writings state that the earth s crust separated waters above and below. 42

A Third Alternative Ocean (water above) Firmament The Deep (water below) [12] Earth s Crust The Mantle 43

The Waters Under The Firmament According to the Vapor Canopy Theory, the waters under the firmament represent the earth in its watery state (Hydrosphere). 2 PE 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: In this view, when we speak of firmament we are speaking about the atmosphere. 44

Firmament and Heavens We can see this in Genesis 1:8: GEN 1:8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. If this is so, doesn t firmament mean atmosphere rather than the earth s crust? 45

Firmament and Heavens Firmament (raqua) means Expanse; spread out thinnest. It may mean - Space or a thin stretched out space. However, its actual meaning is uncertain, and could refer to something solid, and is so rendered by the King James translators in the word firmament. [12] 46

Firmament and Heavens [12] If firmament (raqua) means space or atmosphere - Various Old Testament verses reinforce the idea of space (heavens) being stretched out. 47

Firmament and Heavens ISA 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in: JER 51:15 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding. 48

Firmament and Heavens PSA 104:2 Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: ZEC 12:1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him. See also: Isaiah 42:5; Isaiah 44:24; Isaiah 45:12; Isaiah 51:13; and Jeremiah 10:12 49

Firmament and Heavens [12] What then does firmament (raqua) in Genesis 1:8 refer to? The correct meaning of raqua is essential to settling the issue of whether a vapor canopy is meant, but problems exist whichever meaning is accepted. Both the Septuagint and Latin Vulgate translators associate solidness with the meaning of raqua. 50

Firmament and Heavens [12] Robert Hooke ( ) proposed that there were two firmaments described, one solid and one of atmosphere or space, and that verse 8 should read: also God called the heaven the firmament. Currently, there is no satisfactory answer, but it may be more scientifically safe to throw out the Vapor Canopy Theory as many creation scientists already have. 51

Firmament and Heavens [12] Lastly The Vapor Canopy Theory originated with Isaac Vail ( ). Vail supported his case principally by ancient mythology and his supposed interpretation of Genesis 1:

Rivers in the Sky [78] Another interesting finding by Dr. Reginald E. Newell of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1993 might have implications for the waters above is that there are huge rivers of water vapor in the lower atmosphere, some carrying as much water as the Amazon River. 53

Rivers in the Sky [78] It is reported that A half-dozen vapor rivers carry water from the Equator toward the poles in relatively narrow streams. The size of some of these rivers of vapor is about 4,800 miles long with the width being about 420 to 480 miles. 54

The Sea, Dry Land, and Vegetation 55

Foundations of the Earth In Genesis 1:9 we see that the dry land appears for the first time the foundations of the earth. The Word of God spoke the second time. GEN 1:9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 56

Foundations of the Earth The waters of the earth were a soup of elements not yet put in order. The energizing Word caused a separation of the elements and dry land appeared amidst the water. Disorder became ordered. God is laying the foundations of the earth. 57

Foundations of the Earth God declared this truth to Job: JOB 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. See also: PSA 102:25; ISA 48:13; ZEC 12:1 & JER 31:37 58

The Sea and the Dry Land The waters were gathered together into one place causing the dry land to appear. The water was arranged into seas with connections to subterranean passages and chambers. The pre-flood continental and sea arrangement differs from post-flood arrangement. 59

The Earth Earth (Eretz) This is the same word that is used for the created matter of Genesis 1:1 and 2. The formless created matter of Genesis 1:1 and 2 is now ordered to become solid ground. God arranged the earth. 60

Plants and Seed - Genesis 1:11-13 GEN 1:11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 13 And the evening and the morning were the third day. 61

Plants and Seed The three main orders of plant life were made. Grass (Deshe) - Ground coverings. Seed not particularly noted. Herbs (Eseb) - Includes bushes and shrubs. Seed is the most apparent feature. Trees (Peri) - Large woody plants, including fruit-bearing trees. Seed is in the fruit. 62

Plants and Seed The plants and trees were made fully-grown plants, whose seed is in itself. They thus had an appearance of age. Dr. E.J.H. Corner of the Cambridge University botany school, speaking of the absence of transitional plant fossils, stated: Much evidence can be adduced in favor of the theory of evolution from biology, biogeography, and paleontology, but I still think that to the unprejudiced, the fossil record of plants is in favor of special creation. [101] 63

Plants and Seed The choice we have is either God made the seed or God made the plant. The evolutionists have another choice the plant made itself. In any case this is the old chicken and egg routine. It is evident that God, in creating and making, is not bound by the processes currently operating in the world. 64

Kind 65

Kind [111] The seed after his kind. Kind = Min Min (kind) refers to species, sometimes genus and occasionally family in the plant world. Min (kind) variations. indicates limitations of Each was distinct and could reproduce only within the limits of its own genetic code 66 (DNA).

Kind Remember the definition of the biblical term kind given by Dr. Duane Gish: A generally interfertile group of organisms that possess variant genes for a common set of traits but that does not interbreed with other groups of organisms under normal circumstances. [47] Many varieties may come from a kind, but no new kinds. 67

Kind Evolution is not a part of the plan, as can be seen in 1 Co 15:38 and 39. 1CO 15:38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. 39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. Variation is only within each kind - No new 68 kinds.

Kind The formation of plants preceded the creation of animals, birds and insects. This argues against the days being long ages since many plants require insect or bird pollination for reproduction. God saw that it was good Again God is excited about what He has brought forth in His work. 69

Kind According to their kind. The first basic principle and command is that all things reproduce and populate the Earth after their own kind. Kinds - Not an evolutionary chain. Many variations are permitted within kind. [66] The whole theory of evolution perishes upon this rock. 70

Summary The First Three Days 71

Summary The First Three Days Summarizing the works of creation: On the first day God created and energized the entire universe (time, space and matter). On the second day God made the hydrosphere and atmosphere for the Earth. On the third day God ordered the seas, formed the dry land and made the vegetation of the Earth. 72

Lights and Light Givers 73

Lights - Genesis 1:14-19 GEN 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. (Continued) 74

Lights - Genesis 1: And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. 19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. 75

The Light Givers Remember In Genesis 1 verse 3 God said let there be light. The substance of light (light waves) was already made at that time. Ore (light) = Energy in all its forms. 76

The Light Givers The Light Givers Remember that, in Genesis 1:3, we saw that God provided the light waves prior to making the light producers (the light givers). Light was shinning on the earth before the light givers were made. It is possible that God could have simply created the light wave from star to earth before the star itself was created. 77

The Light Givers The universe was created complete and mature from the beginning. [47] God, as Lawmaker, was certainly not bound by the natural laws that the universe is now subjected to. 78

The Light Givers The argument that it would have taken many light years for light waves to reach the earth from newly created stars should not concern us for the following reasons: There is no assurance of uniformity of speed of light at such tremendous distances. In fact light has been measured to possibly be slowing down. Also, consideration of models of relativity and space curvature show that light could reach earth from great distances in only a few years. [70] 79

The Light Givers The Greater Light = Sun. It gives light of its own. The Lesser Light = Moon. It gives reflected light. He made the stars "also." This is of minor importance, when compared with what the Sun and Moon provides the Earth. 80

The Light Givers There were seasons. Even if we suppose that the Earth had a vapor canopy with warm climate, there could still be slight seasonal differences in temperature. If we suppose that the land mass was gathered in one place on the planet (pangea), then some variation would be expected throughout the north/south 81 regions.

The Light Givers Lights = Ma-ore in contrast with light (ore) of day one. Here it is meant to be the light givers (the Sun, Moon, and stars), while in Genesis 1:3 ore (light) indicated the substance of light, or energy in all its forms. In the first case God provided the light, in this case God provides the light givers to divide the light from the darkness. Signs - For seasons; time keeping, etc. not astrology. 82

Star Formation 83

Star Formation Dr. John Rankin showed mathematically, in his PhD thesis, that galaxies would not form from the Big Bang. Even after the Big Bang there needs to be some inducement for stars to form. Stars are supposed to form by condensing out of clouds of gas, but this doesn t happen spontaneously. [91] 84

Star Formation Some believe that an exploding star can produce shockwaves that causes compression of a nearby gas cloud. But where did the exploding star come from? Dust grains might provide the molecules to radiate heat from the gas cloud causing condensation, aiding star formation, but the heavier dust elements would require preexisting stars. [91] 85

Life On Mars 86

Life On Mars [47] Life forms may eventually be discovered on Mars because Mars is close to Earth, and earth s life-forms are easily transportable to Mars. Consider the following: There is an abundance of microbial lifeforms at altitudes ranging from 30,000 to 130,000 feet. Solar wind is capable of propelling tiny life-forms outward through the solar system 87 and perhaps beyond.

Life On Mars [47] Many microorganisms can be kept at about [minus 200] 200 degrees Centigrade for more than six months without losing their germination capability. Some microbes are able to absorb 600 kilorads of X-ray radiation without losing their viability. 88

Life On Mars [47] Meteorites large enough to make a crater greater than 60 miles across will cause Earth rocks to escape Earth s gravity. For every thousand such rocks ejected, seventeen will hit Mars carrying with them many varieties of Earth s life-forms. If life-forms are ever discovered on Mars, they may only be those transported from Earth. 89

THE SCIENCE OF CREATION Lesson Dinosaurs GEN 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. (Continued) 91

Dinosaurs 21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. 92

Created to be Inhabited 93

Created to be Inhabited The Earth was now ready for the purpose of the creation. ISA 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else. The Earth was created to be inhabited.94

Birds and Marine Life Birds appeared in the sky (firmament; Atmosphere). Marine life appeared in the waters. 95

Living Creatures [66] Genesis 1:20-22 Living Creatures = Nephesh Sherets These verses speak of creating Life All kinds of marine and bird life. Nephesh refers to soul (living; life). Used for animals, fish, birds and the soul of man. 96

Living Creatures [66] Plants do not have life or soul (consciousness) as do both animals and man. Plants have a body. Animals have a body and soul. Men have a body, a soul, and a spirit. 97

Created [70] Notice that the word created (verse 21) has not appeared since the creation of the elements in verse one, until now. Previously all things were made or formed; an arranging and energizing of the elements. The word created in this context refers to the creation of the life or soul (consciousness) of the living creatures (living soul). 98

Created Consciousness is not simply arrangement of the elements. an 99

Tanniym - The Dragon 100

Tanniym - The Dragon Notice how Genesis 1:21 reads in the King James Version: GEN 1:21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 101

Tanniym - The Dragon [1;69;125] Tanniym is translated Great Whales in the King James Bible and Sea Creatures in the New King James. Tanniym actually means in Hebrew: a marine or land monster, such as seaserpent or dragon. Tanniym is used other places in the Bible: 102

Tanniym - The Dragon [100] Strong s Dictionary OT:8577 Tanniyn (tan-neen'); or tanniym (Ezek 29:3) (tan-neem'); intensive from the same as OT:8565; a marine or land monster, i.e. sea-serpent or jackal: KJV - dragon, sea-monster, serpent, whale. 103

Tanniym - The Dragon [82] Brown, Driver & Briggs Hebrew Lexicon OT:8577 Tanniyn or tanniym (Ezek 29:3) a dragon, a serpent, a sea monster a) b) c) a dragon or a dinosaur a sea or a river monster a serpent, a venomous snake 104

Tanniym - The Dragon EXO 7:10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent [tanniym]. 11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. (Continued) 105

Tanniym - The Dragon 12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents [tanniym]: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods. 13 And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said. 106

Tanniym - The Dragon Now look at Ezekiel 29:3: EZE 29:3 Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon [tanniym] that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself. The KJV calls it a great dragon. The NKJV and NIV call it a great monster. 107

Tanniym - The Dragon Tanniym differs from the word for serpent, nachash, used for the serpent in the Garden and elsewhere. This can very well be a reference to the dinosaur. Legends abound in our culture as well as oriental cultures of dragons. Dinosaur (Greek) deinos [terrible] + sauros [lizard]. [62] 108

Dragon Bones The Chinese discovered dragon bones about AD. [1] The modern scientific discovery of dinosaurs date only to 1822AD with the discovery of a fossil tooth similar to an iguana tooth, only bigger. They called this dinosaur iguanodon. [1;42] Could dragons dinosaurs? have been the 109

Hard to Explain [1;42] 110

Footprints [3;112;126] 111

Footprints [3;32;112;126] There are numerous human appearing footprints found in carboniferous formations. The carboniferous formations are considered as old as 350 million years old (Carboniferous Period mya). This preceeds the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous Periods (251-65mya) in which dinosaur footprints are usually found, such as those at Glen Rose, Texas and 112 elsewhere.

Footprints [3;112;126] These human appearing footprints are found and documented in carboniferous formations in Pennsylvania and Missouri. The Missouri tracks are exceedingly human and resemble those of Southeast Asian aborigines. A. E. Wilder-Smith, MAN S ORIGINS, MAN S DESTINY, p Human footprints are found in the Cretaceous formations in Arizona, California, and New Mexico. 113

Footprints [112] According to Albert C. Ingalls: [There are similar prints] on sites reaching from Virginia and Pennsylvania through Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri and westward toward the Rocky Mountains... And from five to ten inches long have been found on the surface of exposed rock, and more keep turning up as the years go by. 114

Footprints [112] Ingalls comments: If man, or even his ape ancestor, or even the ape ancestor s early mammal ancestor, existed as far back as in the carboniferous period in any shape, then the whole science of geology is so completely wrong that all geologists will resign their jobs and take up truck driving. (Continued) 115

Footprints [3;112;126] Hence, for the present at least, science rejects the attractive explanation that man made these mysterious prints in the mud of the carboniferous period with his feet. Albert C. Ingalls, THE CARBONIFEROUS MYSTERY, Scientific American, Jan., 1940, CLXII, 14. One controversial set of prints in cretaceous limestone is from Glen Rose, Texas, on the edge of the Puluxy River, known as the Taylor trail. 116

Footprints [3;112;126] The Puluxy River prints have been hotly disputed by both secular and creation scientists, but other human prints have been found in the vicinity of numerous dinosaur tracks in the area. [1] 117

Footprints The Paluxy River prints are of man and dinosaur walking the same path, together with a separate print known as the Burdick print. Remember that fresh Cretaceous limestone sets up hard in a few hours, indicating, if authentic, that the man and dinosaur prints were made only moments or a few hours apart. 118

Footprints The following footprints are from the Paluxy River, near Glen Rose, Texas. They were originally considered authentic by creationists, but most creationists have abandoned the claim. Evolutionists explain them as tail drags made by dinosaurs, or a fake. [11] 119

Footprints & Trilobites [3;112;126] 128

Footprints & Trilobites [3;112;126] The following slides titled Footprints and Trilobites are difficult to document, are hotly contested, and as such should be received with some caution. 129

Footprints & Trilobites [12;47;85;127;128] On 1 June 1968 in Utah, William Meister found the fossils of several trilobites in the fossilized, sandaled footprint of a man. 130

Footprints & Trilobites [47;85;127;128;129] 131

Footprints & Trilobites [47;85;127;128] Needless to say these shoeprints are not accepted by evolutionists and some creationists. 132

Footprints & Trilobites A geologist, Clifford Burdick, found a footprint of a barefooted child containing a compressed trilobite. Trilobites are supposed to have become extinct about 230 million years before the appearance of man. This also is not accepted by evolutionists. Next lesson we will see some footprints that the evolutionists and creationists do accept, although with different interpretations. 133

Dinosaurs 134

Dinosaurs & the Flood Could the dinosaur have survived The Flood? Nothing in the Bible prohibits Noah from taking dinosaurs on the Ark and nothing says they had to be full size adults. 135

Dinosaur Bones [91] Red blood cells and hemoglobin have been found in some (unfossilized) dinosaur bone. It is impossible that the blood cells and hemoglobin could have survived more than a few thousand years. Yet, evolutionists assure us that the dinosaur lived about 65 million years ago. (Continued) 136

Dinosaur Bones It is also incredible that unfossilized dinosaur bone could have survived that long. Ask yourself, where are all the bones of the buffalo that were slaughtered on the plains of North America? 137

BEHEMOTH? [1] LENGTH = 70 FEET WEIGHT = 30 TONS FOOTPRINTS FOUND UP TO 36 INCHES IN DIAMETER HAD A SECOND BRAIN AT THE BASE OF BACKBONE 138

BEHEMOTH? [1] LENGTH = 75 FEET WEIGHT = 75 TONS (150,000 POUNDS) (12 ELEPHANTS) HEIGHT = 40 FEET (FIVE STORY BUILDING) 139

BEHEMOTH? [1] Keep these pictures of Dinosaurs in mind as we now look at the description of animals in Job s days. 140

BEHEMOTH JOB 40:15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox. 16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly. 17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together. 18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron. 19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him. (Continued) 141

BEHEMOTH 20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play. 21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens. 22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about. 23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth. 24 He taketh it with his eyes: his nose 142 pierceth through snares.

BEHEMOTH A note in the New International Version, Thompson Chain Reference Bible, published by Zondervan says that this creature is possibly the hippopotamus or the elephant. Evolutionary bias, even among theologians, will not allow the consideration that this might be a reference to the dinosaur. 143

Ancient Indian Rock Drawing [2] What do you think this is? Did Man and dinosaur exist at the same time? 144

Ancient Cave Carving [130] Bernifal Cave, near Les Eyzies, France Dinosaur and Mammoth in head-to-head confrontation This area of cave is now closed to the public. 145

Ancient Cave Carving [130] Drawing of rock carving in previous slide. 146

LEVIATHAN Another creature is described in Job -- a fierce fire breathing creature with scales covering his body. A note in the New International Version, Thompson Chain Reference Bible, published by Zondervan says that Leviathan is possibly the crocodile. Again, preconceived bias as to the age of the earth prevents them considering the possibility that Leviathan is a 147 dinosaur.

LEVIATHAN JOB 41:1 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down? 18 By his sneezings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning. 19 Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out. 20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron. 21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame 148 goeth out of his mouth.

LEVIATHAN Do you think Leviathan, as described, is an impossible creature? Consider this: Today we have the bombardier beetle that can shoot a blast of gases heated to 212 F at its attacker. Legends of fire breathing dragons abound. 149

The Bombardier Beetle [61] The following is a clip from a teaching series by Dr. Jobe Martin, The Evolution of a Creationist: 150

The Bombadier Beetle [1] (Video) 151

COULD THE DINOSAUR HAVE SURVIVED? [1;42] If we accept a vapor canopy, the increased atmospheric pressure and oxygen content in the original pre-flood world would have supported such large creatures with relatively small lung sizes. After the Flood, the larger creatures would have found the reduced atmospheric pressure and oxygen content difficult to live in, and would have decreased mobility. 152

COULD THE DINOSAUR HAVE SURVIVED? [7;42;47;69] There is certainly evidence in the geologic record that the pre-flood earth had a vastly different climate and conditions. We find large lush plant life as an example. 153

COULD THE DINOSAUR HAVE SURVIVED? [58;131] Species thought to be extinct have been found living in remote parts of the world. It is interesting to note that dinosaur like creatures such as Brontosaurus type have been reportedly sighted in Africa during the last century and as late as the 1980 s [1] 154

COULD THE DINOSAUR HAVE SURVIVED? [131] During World War II a Pteranodon, a flying reptile, was reportedly sighted by soldiers in New Guinea. 155

COULD THE DINOSAUR HAVE SURVIVED? The scientific community chooses to ignore any implication that man and dinosaur lived at the same time. [112] In fact, any finding contrary to established evolutionary doctrine is usually dismissed as a hoax or mistake. In Arizona and Rhodesia, dinosaur pictographs have been found drawn on 156 cave or canyon walls by man. [47]

Genesis 1:20-25 GEN 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. 21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. (Continued) 157

Genesis 1: And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. 23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. (Continued) 158

Genesis 1: And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 159

Formed According To Their Kind 160

ACCORDING TO THEIR KIND All creatures were according to their kind. There is no indication of an evolutionary process except variation within the permissible DNA genetic code of its own kind. [10;70;72;83;101] In Genesis 1:22, God gave the command to "be fruitful and multiply." He would give this same command to man again in Genesis 1:28, and again in Genesis 9:1, when Noah came forth from the Ark. 161

The Soul Principle The soul principle, created on the fifth day (verse 21), is again mentioned on the sixth day ( living creature, verse 24). They all had souls because each was said to be a living creature. 162

Kinds Cattle and beasts refer to domestic and wild animals and possibly the larger dinosaurs. Creeping things refer to insects, smaller animals and reptiles. They were brought forth from the earth. That is, made (formed) elements of the earth. from the 163

Formed, Not Created They were formed, not created, since the creation of matter took place in Genesis 1:1. Genesis 1:1 shows that all matter of the universe was created heavens (space) and earth (matter). 164

Formed, Not Created Genesis 1:2 shows that the created matter of verse 1 was waiting to be formed and energized (without form and void; darkness). Genesis 1:3 reveals that the process of forming would begin with the imparting of energy (light). 165

Formed, Not Created The animals and man were formed from the same matter of Genesis 1:1 (dust; earth). ECCL 3:19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. (Continued) 166

Formed, Not Created 20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. 21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth? 167

No Struggle For Existence God saw that it was good. Evolution theory requires a struggle for existence. In the Genesis narrative there is no indication of a struggle for existence all was created and formed in good order. The nursery was now fully prepared for its intended purpose. 168

Sixth Day The six days were not yet over. The six days would become a pattern for man to live and work by, while the seventh would be a day of rest. 169
