GOALS: Comprehension To increase your knowledge of English Bible in Genesis to Joshua. To increase your knowledge of introductory issues in each book from Genesis to Joshua. To increase your knowledge of the historical origins of Israel and Israel's history from the exodus through the conquest of the Promised Land. Competence To sharpen your ability to interpret Genesis to Joshua in their geographical, historical, theological, and literary contexts. To sharpen your ability to apply the teaching of Genesis to Joshua in your own life and in the life of the local church. Character To be a person of faith in the God of abundance. The files are in MSWord outline format, so you can easily take notes on the outlines, if you use a PC laptop in class. THEOLOGICAL REFLECTIONS AND REPLIES After each weekend you will write a word reflection on one aspect of the lecture material and how that material affects your life or ministry. You will post your reflection on a discussion forum on Blackboard. See below for instructions to follow to register on Blackboard. The invitation will be sent before the first weekend. You will then read the reflections of your classmates and post a word reply that connects your classmates post with your life or ministry. GRADING READING The reading is worth 10 points or 8% of your final grade. At the end of the course you will me and indicate the percentage of the assigned reading you did and that percentage will be your reading score, e.g., 100% = 10 points, 90% = 9 points, etc.. THEOLOGICAL REFLECTIONS AND REPLIES EXAMS SCALE Each post is worth 10 points, totaling 40 points and 30% of your final grade. Each reply is worth 5 points, totaling 20 points and 15% of your final grade. Each exam is worth 15 points, totaling 60 points or 47% of your final grade. I use the Seminary's published grading scale. There is an automatic penalty of one letter grade for a late exam (without excuse).
