1 1 OT 501 THEOLOGY OF THE PENTATEUCH Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary Spring, 2012 J. J. NIEHAUS I COURSE DESCRIPTION A general introduction to the theology of the first five books of the Bible. The doctrine and nature of creation will be considered as the foundation of all further revelation. The nature of the image of God and its implications for the nature of God's kingdom and presence will also be studied. The primacy of covenant in all of God's dealings will also appear. The major objective will be to inform and strengthen the student's commitment to the scripture as the Word of God. 2 III COURSE REQUIREMENTS 2 A Required readings = REQUIRED TEXTS (WITH PAGES TO BE READ), as listed below. Required readings will count 20% of the course grade and must be reported by 9 May (Seniors 29 April). Use reading report attached to syllabus. Reading reports submitted late will not receive full credit, but will receive proportional credit at the discretion of the professor. C Little Test One one-hour test will be given. The test will cover specified lectures (as indicated on the COURSE SCHEDULE). The test will count 30% of the course grade. D Final examination A final examination will be given, and will count 50 % of the course grade. The final exam will be taken at home. It will be an essay-style exam. You may take one hour and a half to complete the exam in handwritten form. Once you have completed it, you must copy your handwritten version and submit the exam in typewritten form, single-spaced. Please note: handwritten exams will not be accepted. Please mail the exam directly to the professor The final exam must be submitted/postmarked 7 May (Seniors 27 April).
