Course Objective This course concentrates on the overall content of the entire Old Testament with its historical, geographical, and cultural backgrounds. Only the English version of the Bible will be used. While the basic content of each individual book will be given, emphasis will be placed on how each book fits into the overall story of the Old Testament. This course objective is consistent with Article #1 of the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary Mission Statement, which is To encourage students to become knowledgeable of God's inerrant Word, competent in its interpretation, proclamation and application in the contemporary world. Course Requirements Students will be expected to complete all assigned readings and participate in class discussions. The final course grade will be determined on the basis of a course quiz 20%, a book review 20%, a course project 10%, and a Final Exam 50%. Grading scale is on a 100% scale (90=A-; 92.5=A; 97.5=A+) Please read Plagarism article on CAMS before the second class session on Nov. 12.

Paper should also clearly state how you believe the Bible addresses those 3-4 key themes. The paper must be 3-5 pages, typed and double-spaced. 2) Development of a Bible Study Lesson Plan based on lectures, readings, and additional research focusing on the theme of God s grace in the Old Testament. Lessons should have a clear target audience, ie. youth, young adults, single women, men, families, key goals, a set time period, i.e. one sixty minute session, two ninety minute sessions, etc. The paper must be 3-5 pages, typed and double-spaced. OT Survey Book Review Guidelines 1) Choose a book about a book in the Old Testament or an Old Testament individual that you have never read before.

4 2) Book should be no less than 250 pages. 3) You may read a portion of an Old Testament Commentary for your book review. 4) You cannot choose the Bible as your Book for the Book review. 5) Book Review should be typed, double spaced, 12-font, and 3-4 pages. 6) Read the plagiarism article before beginning your paper. 7) A Book Review explains the general themes and content of a book, specific points of interest noted by the author, whether or not the author proved his/her point(s), areas that could be improved upon, etc. Additional Recommended but not Required Books and Articles Assis, Elie.
