2 GOD MADE THE WORLD EATIO made day, night, land, and plants. LEADER BIBLE STUDY N CR LIFE POINT: G od The most basic question for science and philosophy is, How did the universe begin? LEVEL OF BIBLICAL LEARNING God made day, night, plants, sky, sun, moon, stars, animals, water, birds, and fish. BIBLE PASSAGE Genesis 1:1-19 WEEKLY VERSE In the 20th century, secular astronomers came to the undisputed conclusion that the entire universe (time, space, matter, and energy) had a beginning from nothing. But they cannot, in any way, explain how. Genesis 1:1 gives the only reasonable answer to the how question God created everything. God revealed that the universe exists because He brought it into existence from nothing. The Hebrew word translated created is bara, which means specially created (it is also used twice for mankind s creation in verse 27). Beyond that initial creation event, Genesis 1 2 outlines the six-day progression In the beginning God made the world. Genesis 1:1 God followed to create the earth. We will look at the first four days in this session. UNIT VERSE light, which established days and nights. On day two, He formed the sky. On day In the beginning God made the world. Genesis 1:1 three, dry land emerged. He called the land earth and the waters seas. God made Initially the earth was dark and formless over the waters. So the Spirit of God created plants and trees and declared them good. On day four, God opened the skies to reveal the sun, moon, and stars to light the earth. The sun was to have dominion over the day, and the moon governed the night. The stars also shone brightly, and God saw it was good. Why can t science tell us how the universe was made? Why is it necessary for God to reveal how the universe was made? How was God s declaration that His creation is good reflective of His holy nature? SUGGESTED DATE: week of September 4 8 U n i t 1, S e ss i o n 1 NOTE: Downloadable versions of items identified as CD are available in the Music and Print Extras Bundle. 3 BIBLE STORY GOD MADE THE WORLD Based on Genesis 1:1-19 BIBLE STORY FOR 1s Long ago God made the world. God made the light and dark. He called the light day and the dark night. God made the sky, land, and seas. God made plants, trees, and grass to grow on the land. God made the lights in the sky: the sun, moon, and stars. God saw what He made was good. BIBLE STORY FOR 2s Long ago God made the world and everything in it. First, God made light which He called day and dark that He called night. Next God made the sky and separated the land and waters. He called the waters seas and the land earth. God filled the land with plants and trees. Some plants made seed, and some made fruit. Some of the fruit was good for food. God made the sun to shine during the day and the moon and stars to shine at night. God saw what He had made, and it was good. GATHER TIME FOR OLDER 2s Gather and sing.
