1. A Whole New World (Sung to the tune of A Whole New World from Aladdin) God will show us the way To a place way out yonder. Forty years we ll be wandering Until we find our dream. God will give us the land. God will feed us with manna. We will see that we can escape Our lives in Mitzrayim. A whole new world Where we won t live in slavery. No one to tell us, No, The Jews can t go. Or say we re only dreaming. A whole new world A place where everyone is free. A whole new point of view For every Jew. Travel to a whole new world with me. 18. Do You Hear Our People Sing? (Sung to the tune of Do You Hear the People Sing? from Les Miserables) Do you hear our people sing? Singing Dayeinu and Amen? Telling the story of a people Who will not be slaves again! From the shank bone to the wine Down to the final matzah crumbs, There is a night about to start When the seder comes! Will you join our seder now And have a matzo ball with me? We ll tell the tale of how We all got out of slavery. We re happy tonight That we all have the right to be free! Will you drink some kosher wine, And eat some matzo and maror? We will talk of Hebrews dancing On a dry and distant shore. We ll pray for Elijah to come when we open the door!
17. Goodbye, Goodbye, Mitzrayim! (Sung to the tune of To Life! from Fiddler on the Roof) Goodbye, goodbye, Mitzrayim! Mitzrayim, Mitzrayim, goodbye! We re sick of building the pyramids, Losing our first born kids. So Mitzrayim, goodbye! To us and our good fortune! To Moses and to Adonai! Say adios to the overseer. We re getting out of here. So Mitzrayim, goodbye! God told Moses, There s a simple message That the Pharaoh really needs to know. Take your rod and take your brother Aaron. Tell the Pharaoh, Let my people go. To us and our good fortune! To Moses and to Adonai! Say adios to the overseer. We re getting out of here. So Mitzrayim, goodbye! 2. Why You Are Here (Sung to the tune of YMCA ) Moses, it is me in the bush. I said Moses, well, you just need a push. I said Moses, just a whack on the tush, And you ll make your people happy. Moses, you ve been lucky from birth. I said Moses, you were put on this earth. I said Moses, you can show what you re worth, You can make your people happy. I want to tell you now Why You Are Here. I want to tell you now Why You Are Here. He s done everything just to ruin their joy. He has taken their first born boys. I want to tell you now Why You Are Here. I want to tell you now Why You Are Here. Moses, don t be a schmo. When the Pharaoh says no, tell him Let all my people go. Moses, all your people are slaves I said Moses, and they have to be saved, I said Moses, you will have to be brave. You can make your people happy. Moses, soon your people will be. I said Moses, they ll be happy and free. I said Moses, they will cross the Red Sea. You can make your people happy.
3. You Must Let My People Go (Sung to the tune of If I Only Had a Brain ) I have come to tell you clearly To let you know sincerely My people suffer so. God has sent me here to order You must stop the bricks and the mortar You must let my people go. If you don t let them skedaddle, You ll have some real sick cattle And a frog will bite your toe. All the common folks and royals Will be breaking out in boils. You must let my people go. Right now we re in a mess. But this is just a phase. God will bring the Hebrew people better days And, Pharaoh, you ll change your ways. You re afraid that the Egyptians Will have some big conniptions If you change the status quo. In the end, you ll have to do it So you might as well get to it. You must let my people go. 16. The Gambler (Sung to the tune of The Gambler by Kenny Rogers) On a warm desert evenin We were slaves to the Pharaoh. The cards had all been dealt and we were on a losin streak. Then Moses came up to us and told us God had sent him. The night grew deathly quiet as he began to speak. He said, God has seen the tears rollin down your faces And God has sent me here to give y all a helpin hand. So if you don t mind my sayin, I can see you re out of aces. But rest assured that God will help you reach the Promised Land. You ve got to know when to flee now. Know when you re free now. Know when to walk away Know when to run. You never bake your bread. When it s time to flee the Pharaoh There ll be time for bread to leaven When the fleein s done. We packed our half-baked bread, And we fled from the Pharaoh. We got away while Pharaoh and his men were fast asleep. And somewhere in the darkness, We heard a voice from heaven. And in those final words we found an ace that we could keep.
14. There s No Seder Like Our Seder (Sung to the tune of There s No Business Like Show Business ) There s no Seder like our Seder, Like no Seder I know. Everything about it is halachic Nothing that the Torah won t allow. Listen how we read the whole Haggadah It s all in Hebrew Cause we know how. There s no Seder like our Seder, We tell a tale that is swell Moses took the people out into the heat They baked the matzoh While on their feet Now isn t that a story That just can t be beat? Let s go on with the show! 15. TAKE US OUT OF EGYPT (Sung to the tune of Take Me Out To The Ball Game ) Take us out of Egypt Free us from slavery Bake us some matzoh in a haste Don t worry bout flavor Give no thought to taste. Oh it s rush, rush, rush, to the Red Sea If we don t cross it s a shame For it s ten plagues, Down and you re out At the Pesach history game. 4. Just A Tad Of Charoset (Sung to the tune of Just a Spoon Full Of Sugar ) At every seder every year, there is an element of fear The time when I must eat a bitter herb. And in the moment that I dread, the heat goes to my head, I cough! I sneeze! I whimper and I wheeze! But Just a tad of charoset helps the bitter herbs go down, The bitter herbs go down, the bitter herbs go down. Just a tad of charoset helps the bitter herbs go down In the most delightful way. Oh, back in Egypt long ago, The Jews were slaves under Pharaoh. They sweat and toiled and labored through the day. So when we gather Pesach night, We do what we think right. Maror, we chew, To feel what they went through. While the maror is being passed, We all refill our water glass, Preparing for the taste that turns us red. Although maror seems full of minuses, It sure does clear our sinuses. But what s to do? It s hard to be a Jew!!!
5. Listen, King Pharaoh! Oh Listen, Oh Listen, Oh Listen, King Pharaoh! Oh Listen, Oh Listen, Oh Listen, King Pharaoh! They want to go away They work too hard all day King Pharaoh, King Pharaoh, What do you say? No, No, No, I will not let them go! No, No, No, I will not let them go! 6. The Frog Song One morning when Pharaoh awoke in his bed, There were frogs in his bed and frogs on his head, Frogs on his nose and frogs on his toes, Frogs here, frogs there, Frogs were jumping everywhere! 7. I ve Been Cooking For This Seder (Sung to the tune of I ve Been Working on the Railroad ) I ve been cooking for this seder Erev Pesach day Making matzoh balls and kugel So we ll feast as well as pray Can t you smell the pareve sponge cake It rises up so little without yeast Can t you hear our voices singing At this joyous Pesach feast Mama, you can cook Mama, you can cook Milchidik and fleishidik and pareve, too Mama, you can stew Mama, you can stew Your seder food s delicious and we thank you 13. The Ballad of The Four Sons (Sung to the tune of Clementine ) Said the father to his children, At the seder you will dine, You will eat your fill of matzoh, You will drink four cups of wine. Now this father had no daughters, But his sons they numbered four. One was wise and one was wicked, One was simple and a bore. And the fourth was sweet and winsome, He was young and he was small. While his brothers asked the questions He could scarcely speak at all. Said the wise one to his father Would you please explain the laws? Of the customs of the seder Will you please explain the cause? And the father proudly answered, As our fathers ate in speed, Ate the paschal lamb ere midnight And from slavery were freed.
11. Some Of My Favorite Pesach Dishes (Sung to the tune of My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music) Cleaning and cooking and so many dishes Out with the hametz, no pasta, no knishes Fish that s gefillted, horseradish that stings These are a few of our Passover things. Matzo and karpas and chopped up haroset Shankbones and kiddish and Yiddish neuroses Come sit and eat matzo all week long. Listen to our prayers and to our songs of Moses, he s our hero, he s a really really good time, a forty year guy, with God he set us free. 12. Moses Island (Sung to the tune of Gilligan s Island ) Just recline right back and you ll hear a tale, a tale of dreadful trip. That started with ten awful plagues brought onto Egypt, brought unto Egypt. The boss he was a Jewish man raised as a Pharaoh s son. Then G-d he did come calling and soon the fun begun, soon the fun begun. 8. Passover Story (Sung to the tune of The Brady Bunch ) It s a story, about baby Moses, Who came floating down the river called the Nile Pharaoh s Queen was standing there, Just to catch him And so he stayed a while. It s a story bout Jewish builders, Who were sick and tired of building Pyramids. All of them were born as slaves, like their Mothers And just like their kids. So then Moses asked old Pharaoh, Let Us Go Now. He said For Real? No! Moses, Never No Way No! So the plagues were brought to Pharaoh and to Egypt. And that s the way it all became the Exodus. The Exodus. The Exodus. That s the way it became The Exodus! More blood, such frogs, and all those bugs, Pharaoh could just barely see. The Jews were really scoring points and soon they would be free, and soon they would be free. They schlepped and schlepped for forty years across a desert land. He went up to Mt. Sinai and a party soon began, a party soon began. Moses, the Pharaoh too, Aaron and his wife, Miriam, and the slaves are free on the desert island.
9. Yesterday (Sung to the tune of Yesterday ) Yesterday We were slaves in Egypt yesterday Now be thankful that we re free today We must remember yesterday Slavery Pharaoh kept us all in slavery We were working hard as hard can be Oh yesterday sow slavery Why we couldn t go, I don t know He made us stay Then God set us free Now we teach bout yesterday Yesterday We were brought forth so that we could pray Now I need to teach the Kids to say We must remember yesterday Why we couldn t go, I don t know He made us stay Then God set us free Now we teach bout yesterday Yesterday We were brought forth so that we could pray At the seder, teach the Kids to say Why we remember yesterday 10. Miriam s Song (not a parody) By Debbie Friedman CHORUS And the women dancing with their timbrels, followed Miriam as she sang her song, sing a song to the One whom we ve exalted, Miriam and the women danced and danced the whole night long And Miriam was a weaver of unique variety the tapestry she wove was one which sang our history. With every strand and every thread she crafted her delight! A woman touched with spirit, she dances toward the light CHORUS When Miriam stood upon the shores and gazed across the sea the wonder of this miracle she soon came to believe. Whoever thought the sea would part with an outstretched hand and we would pass to freedom and march to the promised land! CHORUS And Miriam the prophet took her timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her just as she had planned, and Miriam raised her voice in song she sang with praise and might We ve just lived through a miracle We re going to dance tonight!! CHORUS
