4 J oshua was not on a sailing ship headed for a shipwreck. He was, however, taking over the command position from Moses in leading the children of Israel into the Promised Land which certainly must have been a fearful experience. Joshua had been alongside Moses as he charted an eventfilled course through the desert. He had watched as waves of hostility often crashed about his godly mentor. Now Moses was dead, and he was the captain of the ship. As fearful as this prospect may have been, Joshua had learned his lessons well. He would do as Moses had done. He would abide in the promises of God. What are some experiences you have faced that seem to steer you to Shipwreck Point? Do you know what to do in such times? No? Then learn how Joshua handled those situations. The Lo r d, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
