1 Mitzvah Day Roundup 2014 WOW, what a tremendous achievement (even if we say so ourselves)! Mitzvah Day Shopping We started our day at 10am outside M&S and Waitrose in Notting Hill Gate and by midday we d already amassed two car loads of donated items. Then, we moved on and pitched simultaneously outside 3 larger branches of Waitrose: Kensington, Westfield and Edgware Road. From midday until 6pm enthusiastic volunteers of all ages approached shoppers, explained about Mitzvah Day and collecting more and more and more food for the homeless Here you can see some photographic highlights - everyone enjoyed a great sense of achievement:

3 The work of sifting through all the bags took a good few hours and STREETLYTES and the other beneficiary charities (The Separated Child Foundation, The Bayswater Family Centre and Magic Breakfast) are absolutely delighted, even overwhelmed by the volume of our collective donations! Collectathon for The Separated Child Foundation Thanks to the generosity of various members of the community we have collected a meaningful quantity of both clothing and toiletries for The Separated Child Foundation which will be included in the welcome packs given to unaccompanied child refugees arriving in the UK. Thank you!

4 Lunchtime at St Mungo s The Silvers and the Feathermans treated the residents of a St Mungo s respite centre to a sumptuous Sunday lunch and their wonderful company. This was a repeat of their visit on Mitzvah Day last year and was greatly appreciated by everyone concerned. Particular thanks to Ingrid and Robert for providing the meal! Sunshine to Seniors Marc Joseph (of the Mosaic Choir) brought much joy as he sang and danced with the residents of the Alan Morkill care home, located off Ladbroke Road and they were engaged by Norman Feltz s superb poetry recital. Greta and Talia, also present, provided good company! Or Chadash Cheder The Cheder set aside time in the morning to write cards to children in hospitals and Israeli soldiers and to make Tzedaka boxes.

5 Mitzvah Day B bayit A tremendous highlight was welcoming guests of the Refugee Council, all asylum seekers, to New West End Synagogue. They enjoyed a light supper prepared by Jon & Angela Skry and Michael Sharron; a guided tour of the synagogue by Stuart Shapro and a wonderful feast of chazanut and show time music by Jonathan Garcia and Marc Joseph. Many volunteers came to meet our special guests, who also enjoyed playing draughts and dominoes with younger members of the community. The visitors were, without exception, overwhelmed with the beauty of the synagogue and the music and, given the option, as one of them said: they d have stayed all night! Thank you to everyone that made it possible we look forward to Mitzvah Day 2015!
