4 Complete services are held at both minyanim. The Shulchan Aruch encourages one to daven on Tuesday, Erev Yom Kippur prior to eating the Seudat HaMafseket. Hence, we have scheduled a 3:00 pm in the Main Shul. Those unable to join in an early may meet in the Beit Midrash at 6:40 pm. We cannot guarantee a minyan will be present for the later. Kol Nidrei is scheduled for 6:55 pm, followed by Maariv. Candle Lighting and Tenai for Yom Kippur As Kol Nidre begins before the official candle lighting time, one is advised to light candles a little early and with a tenai, condition. One may then drive to Shul and leave one s car overnight. The wording of the condition, which follows, should be recited prior to lighting the candles: I do not accept upon myself any of the restrictions or obligations of Yom Kippur until the Kol Nidre service concludes, or sunset occurs, whichever is earlier. The candles are then kindled and the first blessing only ( L Hadlik Ner Shel Yom Ha Kippurim. ) is recited. The second blessing (Shehecheyanu) is recited with the Congregation after Kol Nidre. Whether one lights candles in the regular format or with the above condition, care should be taken to recite the Shehecheyanu only once.
