ID--MILAD-UN-NABI 1431AH, th February 2010 was a day of excitement and joy for the Muslims of Blackburn as it was the day we celebrated the Milad of the highest and best of creation MUHAMMAD (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). Decorating the Masjid In the Saturday Islamic classes all the children made decorations for the Masjid. This included flags and posters. The flags and posters contained information about the Prophet peace be upon him. Blackburn Juloos On the 28th February 2010, all Sunni brothers gathered together with flags in their hands to attend an id-e-miladun-nabi Juloos (march). A group of 30 youths, of all ages, from our Masjid gathered together at Balaclava Street. When we arrived, the organisers were already praying naats. Once everyone got together the organisers from our Masjid distributed flags and green hats. The flags had a green background and in the middle were pictures of Nalain Paak (the Prophet s Sandal mubarak). The flags were in different sizes, small, medium and large. The green hats represented the green dome in Madinah Munawwara. By Hashim Bhobha (14) & Azim Abhuji (14) This excellent Juloos started at Oak Street, Blackburn at 12am and finish at Randal Street with a most beautiful heart-touching dua. 2 2 Ashrafi Voice/ Ashrafi Voice/SPRING 2010/ISSU 1 During the March, the shops on Whalley Range were handing out sweets, drinks, mithai and samosas. Lots of people attended and were showing their love for the highest of creation Muhammad peace be upon him. Mohmed Hasan Ayyub (14) & Mohammed Bawla (14) Milad Mehfil at the Masjid Also on the 28th February 2010, a Milad mehfil was organised by Mohaddise-Azam Mission, Blackburn. There had been a lot of time spent to prepare this programme. The children took great pleasure in decorating the Masjid. The event was started by one of our star students from the Qari class who recited Surah Teen from the Holy Qur an. The way the student prayed touched our hearts. After the beautiful qirat, Moulana Farooq Ashrafi prayed some naats in his outstanding voice. Later Hafiz Tahir prayed some equally beautiful naats too. They prayed until Maghrib. After Maghrib namaz the flags were flying high as Syed Khalid Hussain prayed some naats in his lovely voice. After the event, delicious food was served to everyone who attended. By Hashim Bhobha (14) & Azim Abhuji (13) Baal Mubarak 12 year old Nizammuddin Umar liked the Milad Mehfil. He said, at the end we saw the Baal Mubarak (Blessed Hair of the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him). When I saw the Baal Mubarak I wanted to absolutely change the way I was for the better. Children s Milad Mehfil The children s Milad mehfil was held on Saturday 6th March We had so many children taking part praying Naat Shareef, reciting the Qur an and doing speeches. Firstly, the programme was started with the reciting of the Qur an by Mohammad Hasan Ayyub and Ashraf Booth. They recited some surahs in the style of qiraat. After the recitation, we started off with children praying Naat Shareef and giving speeches on the life of the Holy Prophet peace be upon him. Syed Khalid Hussain praying a naat in his sweet voice After the naats had been prayed, Mufti Ansar-ul-Qadri came and enlightened the mehfil with his speech, and people started the naara s and subhannallah was heard throughout the jamaat khana. Ashraf Premi (11) & Alamghir Dhabli (10) praying a Nasheed veryone joined in with the praying of naats and we really enjoyed listening to them and waving the Milad-unNabi flags throughout the event.

3 Ashrafi Voice/SPRING 2010/ISSU 1 3 Raffle & Goody Bags All the children who attended the children s Milad mehfil received a raffle ticket. Half way through the programme three winners were chosen who won some prize money. The lucky winners were Zainul Abedeen Premi, Faisal Shabbir, Alisha Siddiqua Siraj Patel. At the end of the programme, all the children got goody bags. By Mushraf Bawla (13) & Abdul Laheri (12) Boys taking part in the Children s Milad Mehfil A Jalsa You ll Never Forget! On the 6 th of March 2010 there was a programme on id-e-milad-un-nabi. It started at 5:00pm and finished at 7:20pm. Thirty-five children were taking part to make this event a success. The man who was presenting gave us a speech about id-e-milad-un-nabi. The children that were taking part recited small speeches, talked about His life, we prayed Naats and we sent blessings on our Holy Prophet peace be upon Him. veryone were waving flags, the youngsters felt proud they were muslims. After Maghrib we had a raffle and three people won a prize. After the Jalsa we all prayed Isha, the goodie bags were distributed to the children who took part and were in the audience. Muslims celebrate this day to show respect to our Prophet peace be upon Him. The flags have the Prophet s Blessed Footprint, they are brightly coloured. The flags were all different sizes, the streets had a nice fragrance of loban. The crowd was reciting Nara! People were giving out food: samosas, sweets, jalebis and drinks. It lasted under two hours. People were crying and overjoyed with happiness. It was really fun and my heart was lifted. I felt peace and harmony all through out. 4 4 Ashrafi Voice/ Lots of people in Juloos! The Juloos to celebrate the Holy Prophet s (Peace be upon Him) birthday, which was in the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal 18 th Feb 2010). In the Juloos there were drinks, samoosas, jalebi and I love the prophet badges. First it started in Madina Mosque that is in Oak Street. Then we got to the bottom of Oak Street and we crossed Whalley Range then we went up arl Street, after that we went across London Road and we went down Shear Brow. Then we went across Altom Street and we went down Kendal Street and we finished at Randal Street. We were waving lots of flags, when the Juloos finished Randal Mosque were selling Holy Quran Sharifs and books of Naats. We felt happy to celebrate the Holy Prophet s birthday. We are very very lucky to be Sunnis. Our Prophet the Perfect Gift! id-e-milad-un-nabi is the celebration of the birth of our beloved Prophet (Peace be upon Him), In the Holy Quran, Allah Ta ala tells us whenever we receive a gift we should celebrate and talk about it as much as possible. The most precious gift one can receive is the Holy Prophet peace be upon him. In a Hadith Shareef it is said that the Holy Prophet was once asked why he used to fast on Mondays? He replied by saying On that day I was born and on that day I received the revelation. Allah Ta ala has commanded in the Quran Sharif Say by the name of Allah and his mercy and also says We have sent you only as a mercy to the world. This means that the Holy Prophet is a gift to us and this world and we should be grateful to Allah Ta ala and we show this by celebrating the day he came into this world. We should also send blessings on him and pray as much durood as we can. Allah Ta ala has stated in the Quran Sharif that Truly, Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet. 5 Ashrafi Voice/SPRING 2010/ISSU 1 5 xcellence of Durood Sharif The Holy Prophet, the best of creation (Salallaho alaihi wasallam) has stated When Thursday arrives, Allah sends angels who are holding tablets of silver and pens of gold. They write the names of the one who recites the most Durood upon me from Thursday morning until the night of Friday. Childrens Milad Mehfil The Muslim sisters from the Saturday classes participated in the mehfil-emilad, to celebrate the birth of our holy Prophet, It was held on Saturday 13 th March By Maria Ali (12) Daily Milads During the holy month of Rabi-ul- Awwal, Muslim sisters gathered together for milad, at Hafiz Sahb Laheri s house. Twelve days prior to the birthday of our Holy Prophet Muhammad Salallahu Ta ala Alayhi Wasallam, Muslim sisters performed Dhikr, read wonderful naats, and gave enlightening speeches about our Beloved Prophet. By Uzma Premi (17) The sisters from the Islamic Saturday classes contributed by beautifully reciting amazing naats at the milad, they also encouraged others to join in with them. By Rukaiyah Premi (12), Daniya Natha (9) and Nimrah Ashraf (10) Faatiah and duas were read throughout the twelve days of Rabi-ul-Awwal. On the twelfth day the sisters were lucky enough to see the blessed Baal Mubarak (Holy hair) of our beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustafa salallahu alayhi wasallam. Some girls reciting during the mehfil All the girls read thought provoking speeches based on our holy Prophet Muhammad peace be upon Him. They also recited naats and surahs using their wonderful voices. Within the audience, many proud parents observed their daughters reciting naats sweetly and giving informative speeches. Before the event took place, the sisters made colourful attractive posters which included information about our Holy Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. They are now decorated around the masjid, to remind us of the birth of our beloved Prophet. The younger sisters designed flags, containing pictures of Madina Shareef, where our Prophet is resting. 6 6 Ashrafi Voice/ Ashrafi Voice/SPRING 2010/ISSU 1 Mariam Ali (11) quoted, I attended the Mehfil-enaat, which took place on 13 th March 2010, I thought it was brilliant, it was that good that I decided to come join the girls Saturday class. Parents attending the Girls Mehfil Poster created in Saturday Islamic classes Sana Ghaus (14) said, I had a very nice time listening to my Muslim sisters. I learnt many new things and was very pleased with the work. I am hoping to join in with them next time. To end the event, gift bags were distributed among the participants and scrumptious food was served. By Girls from Saturday Classes (age 10+) Milad Mehfil at Masjid On Sunday the 28 th of February there was a mosque programme. Lots of parents came to watch it. A few boys prayed naats. The ladies and girls sat downstairs. Mufti saab did a speech about the Holy Prophet. We also saw the Prophets hair mubarak. At the end of the milad we ate some rice, halva and drank some water.
