1 As Salaam alaikum everyone! Alhamdullilah we had the chance to look at mahmooz words today. We also briefly went over ayaat 1 and 2 in Surah Furqaan. Please find class summary and homework below Previous Class Recordings and Class Summary: Homework: Complete a simple Irab of the following ayaat (don't worry if you can't do all of them, we will be doing these together in class tomorrow inshaa Allah) Starting on Page 53 1, 2, 3, 4 11, 12, 15 16,17,19, 20 26, 27 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 35 36, 37, 38, 40 Summary The mahmooz irregularity means that there is a hamza in the root. THe hamza could be the first, second or third root letter. We saw today that the mahmooz irregularity does not cause too may problems in the different families. We made the following observations: Mahmooz in families 2-10 does not act differently that any other root letter. The biggest difference was in family 4, which we had learned in Access 1. In Family 1, Mahmooz tends to be pretty normal as well. For Family 1, with the hamza at the end it is completely normal. For Family 1, with the hamza in the middle, the ism faail sounds like سائ ل which looks like the ism faail for ajwaf words. Our knowledge of vocab will help us know the difference.

2 Also with the hamza in the middle, the command may drop the hamza in some cases. So ا سئل or س ل can be يسأل the command for For Family 1 with the hamza in front, the hamza is dropped in the command. Again our knowledge of vocab will help us differentiate between this command and similar looking commands from our irregularities. Finally we also looked at 3 words in the Quran that are very common mahmooz irregularities.
