3 HSB-453: Modern India, Objective: The paper looks at the growth of Indian nationalism with the emergence of Gandhi, major movements and simultaneous developments in Indian politics till India wins freedom. The study of working class movements and the rise of the left was crucial, and so was the growth of communalism in these times. Constitutional negotiations towards freedom and partition form important part of the course.
