1 Surah An Naziat (Ayah 37-46).(الفريق األو ل) This is the first group ف أ م ا م ن ط غ ى - 37 Ayah Then, for him who Tagha (transgressed all bounds, in disbelief, oppression and evil deeds of disobedience to Allah). ج 9 اوز الح 9 د ب 9 أن تج 9 رأ ع 9 لى امل 9 عاص 9 ي) He exceeded the boundaries, carelessly and arrogantly and did the major sins he is not satisfied, exceeds the -(ول م ي قتصر ع لى م ا ح ده اهلل) He is not within the boundaries of Allah.(ال كبار boundaries and does the haraam (forbidden)..(.تمرد وعتى) It is rebellion and transgression و آث ر ال ح ي اة الد ن ي ا- 38 Ayah And preferred the life of this world (by following his evil desires and lusts), He preferred the worldly life, though the word duniya itself means something low. He prefers the duniya over the akhirah and his struggle is for the duniya اآلخ 99 رة ف 99 صار س 99 عيه ل 99 ها).(ع 99 لى His time.(ووق 9 ته مس 9 تغرق 9 ا ف 9 ي ح 9 ظوظ 9 ها وش 9 هوات 9 ها ( duniya is spent indulging/drowning in the leisures and temptations of the.(ونسي اآلخرة وترك العمل لها) He forgot the akhirah and to work for it These ayat are mentioned in Surah An Naziat- about the taking of the souls at the time of death. The way the soul is taken depends on what the person strived for while he was alive..(قدمها على أمر دينه وأخراه ( etc. He preferred the duniya and gave it more priority job, children, ف إ ن ال ج ح يم ه ي امل أ و ى -39 Ayah Verily, his abode will be Hell-fire;.(املقر واملسكن ملن هذه حاله) This is his dwelling and his house- the place he will live We need to stay within the boundaries and give the akhirah higher priority than the duniya. -1-

2 His destination is the Hellfire and his food is Az-Zaqoom (tree from the fire) and his drink is Al-Hamim (فإن مصيره إلى الجحيم وإن مطعمه من الزقوم ومشربه من الحميم) water). (boiling To live in Hellfire is not life or death, He is not living or dead. How to transgress in worship? Bid ah, Shirk, Riya, etc. How to transgress at home? Oppression. How to transgress in public? Violating rules. How to transgress in knowledge? Not applying it, Riya. In different aspects of life, transgression can happen- because of preferring the duniya. و أ م ا م ن خ اف م ق ام ر ب ه و ن ه ى الن ف س ع ن ال ه و ى -40 Ayah But as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires, and lusts..(الفريق الثاني) This is the second group He has fear. Most ayat in the Qur an describe the dwellers of paradise as having fear, they are not living in security. و مل ن خ اف م ق ام ر ب ه ج ن ت ان But for him who [the true believer of Islamic Monotheism who performs all the duties ordained by Allah and His Messenger Muhammad SAW, and keeps away (abstain) from all kinds of sin and evil deeds prohibited in Islam and] fears the standing before his Lord, there will be two Gardens (i.e. in Paradise). (Surah Ar Rahman 55:46) He is afraid of how he will stand in front of Allah س بحان ه وت عال ى and how He will recompense him with justice. ال 99 قيام ع 99 ليه وم 99 جازات 99 ه ب 99 ال 99 عدل) (خ 99 اف On the Day of Judgement, we want favour from Allah س 99 بحان 99 ه وت 99 عال 99 ى and س 9999 بحان 9999 ه وت 9999 عال 9999 ى no justice. With justice we will all go to Hellfire. For the disbelievers, Hellfire is justice. Allah told a worshipper from Banu Israel that he can enter paradise by the mercy of Allah وت عال ى.س بحان ه That man said, he would enter by his deeds- his 70 years of worship. It was not enough for the blessing of one eye. We cannot enter paradise except by the mercy of Allah وت 999 عال 999 ى.س 999 بحان 999 ه In life people fight for justice but.سبحانه وتعالى on the day of resurrection we want the favour of Allah.س بحان ه وت عال ى He was afraid of having to stand in front of Allah.(آث ر ال خوف ف ي ق لبه) Fear affected his heart ن ه 9 ى) (hawa) This fear affected him so much that it made him abstain his nafs from going with its desire Hawa is a chain on us- it's not freedom. People tend to think the opposite, but in.(ن 9999 فسه ع 9999 ن ه 9999 واه 9999 ا ال 9999 ذي ي 9999 قيده 9999 ا reality to follow desire without being bothered about halal and haraam is a chain. It can take you to destruction. Hawa is the chain, as if you are a prisoner of the hawa. Whether it is people or objects. Hawa is one of the entry of the shaithan. -2-

3 Islam teaches us freedom from hawa. Even if the self wants something, he stops it. This requires jihad. What will happen after jihad? The hawa will be according to what Allah س بحان ه وت عال ى and his messenger wants. هواه تبعا ملا جاء به الرسول).(وصار Hawa is not about temptations, but it's about something haram. For example, my hawa wants me to be angry, talk bad, but I need to train myself until it becomes what Allah س 9 بحان 9 ه وت 9 عال 9 ى and his messengers wants. Or when he is inclined to listen to music, he abstains himself over and over again until he wants to listen to the Qur an and doesn t want to listen to music. Or instead of taking revenge, he pardons. All of this requires jihad. وج 99 اه 99 د ال 99 هوى وال 99 شهوة ال 99 صادي 99 ن) good. The hawa (desires) and shahwa (temptations) are averting us from all the ) That is why we need to stop ourself from following our desires. Nobody can stop us except our ع ن ال خير own selves. This is jihad an nafs. خ 9999 اف ال 9999 قيام ب 9999 ني ( judgement. and he is afraid of Allah's س 9999 بحان 9999 ه وت 9999 عال 9999 ى He is afraid of standing in front of Allah (يدي اهلل عز وجل وخاف حكم اهلل فيه ون 999 هى ن 999 فسه ع 999 ن ه 999 واه 999 ا ورده 999 ا إل 999 ى) Mawla. He stopped himself from his hawa and returned to the obedience of its (طاعة موالها As if nafs does not obey and he struggles to bring it back to obedience. Imagine the human being is so weak, yet he disobeys. Even the angels don't disobey. The way to overcome your desire in religion is to worship with sincerity and following the Messenger of Allah اهلل ع ليه وس لم.ص لى We need ikhlaas and we need to know our rabb.. The one taking care of me is my Rabb so of course I need to be afraid. In relationships, if people treat you badly don't follow your desire and reciprocate with harshness. Stop yourself by reminding yourself of this ayah before doing anything bad and remember the reward. These ayat need to be alive in our hearts and we need to apply it. There was a sinner who was afraid of standing in front of Allah س بحان ه وت عال ى so he asked to burnt after his death. Allah سبحانه وتعالى forgave him for his fear. ف إ ن ال ج ن ة ه ي امل أ و ى -41 Ayah Verily, Paradise will be his abode. You will find all the happiness and delights in paradise ع ل 9 ى ك ل خ ي 9 ر وس رور ون ع 9 ي 9 م).(امل 9 ش ت 9 م 9 ل 9 ة It is your.(ملن هذا وصفه) accommodation and refuge- this is the description of paradise His return and abode is paradise -3-

4 ي س أ ل ون ك ع ن الس اع ة أ ي ان م ر س اه ا -42 Ayah They ask you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) about the Hour, - when will be its appointed time?.صلى اهلل عليه وسلم Notice, they are always asking the Prophet Those stubborn people who denied resurrection asked this امل 9999 تعنتون امل 9999 كذب 9999 ون ب 9999 ال 9999 بعث). question (ي 9999 سأل 9999 ك They are asking and making it so difficult. They are asking when is the day of وق 9 وع 9 ها) judgement.(م 9 تى Their question itself shows that they don't believe. The followers of Shaithan are working hard on this- predicting the end of world. Imagine, Israfeel doesn't know then why do you ask? The word راس 9999 ى means after randomly roaming around when it will be settled. They are asking when it will be fixed though it is already decreed and fixed. This is the question of the stubborn people. He didn t explain it. ف يم أ نت م ن ذ ك ر اه ا- 43 Ayah You have no knowledge to say anything about it, Allah س بحان ه وت عال ى answered them- Who are you to want to know about it? It really puts the questioner in his place. What you you benefit from this question? What is the benefit to you, Prophet ص 99 لى اهلل ع 99 ليه وس 99 لم and to them from knowing about when it will happen? us. will tell س 9 بحان 9 ه وت 9 عال 9 ى There is no benefit. If it is important Allah.(م 9 ا ال 9 فائ 9 دة ل 9 ك ول 9 هم ف 9 ي ذك 9 ره 9 ا وم 9 عرف 9 ة وق 9 ت م 9 جيئها ) Imagine, if you knew about your death, how can you live? Having knowledge of this has no benefit in (ليس لهم فيه مصلحة دينية وال دنيوية ( duniya. deen or (بل املصلحة في خفائه عليهم ( hidden. The benefit is in it being That's why Allah س بحان ه وت عال ى and made it hidden from all creation. Knowledge about it belongs to Allah it. 5 إ ل ى ر ب ك م نت ه اه ا- 44 Ayah To your Lord belongs (the knowledge of) the term thereof?.(إليه ينتهي علمها ( Allah The knowledge of the day of judgement ends with ) مردها ومرجعها إلى اهلل) The end and the return is to Allah (فهو الذي يعلم وقتها على التعيني) knows. سبحانه وتعالى Only Allah Jibreel asked the Prophet ص 9999 لى اهلل ع 9999 ليه وس 9999 لم about the time of day of judgment. He answered the questioner doesn't know more than the one being asked. This shows that calculating the end of time is a waste of time. Human being are so tiny in this universe yet he behaves as if he is a giant. Focus on what Allah س 9999 بحان 9999 ه وت 9999 عال 9999 ى created you for. The Quran really gives the final word and clears such matters from the root. إ ن م ا أ نت م نذ ر م ن ي خ ش اه ا -45 Ayah You (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) are only a warner for those who fear it, Allah سبحانه وتعالى tells the Prophet صلى اهلل عليه وسلم that he is a warner to those who are afraid. For example, if you tell one who doesn t believe about the hellfire, he will ridicule it- you don't want this. That s why you can't give the same medicine to everybody. People need to go to the knowledge- it is better than when the knowledge goes to them. May Allah سبحانه وتعالى give us the hikmah. Ameen. Ayah 26 teaches us that having fear of Allah with knowledge (khashya) is a prerequisite to warning..( إنما نذارتك ملن يخشى مجيء الساعة) it. The benefit of your warnings is for those who are afraid of The one who is afraid for the day of judgment is not hasty for it to come. We need or be afraid of it..(ويخاف الوقوف بني يديه) Then he will be afraid to stand between the hands of Allah ف ه 9 م) it. The time Allah سبحانه وتعالى gave us is best time for us. (كانت عشية من يوم أو ضحى من يوم) day. They feel as if they lived for a day or a part of a -6-
