2 QAZVIN is located 150 km away, westward from Tehran. This was formerly a capital city of the iranian Qajar Dynasty, but was then given up. The city is very smaller than Tehran, and his old town center is a superb, trek!

3 QAJAR PALACE the Chehel Sotun palace is the relief this period

8 Mosques and Emamzadeh are very numerous in town. Emamzadehs are shrines of relatives / friends of some of the 12 holy imams. They are thousands of such shrines in Iran, and they are part of the local cult of the martyrdom. Right : the rear dome of the old Mosque,in the southern part of the medieval complex.

13 OLD BAZAR & NABI MOSQUE, QAZVIN I visited Qazvin city four times since i was in Iran. I used to enjoy ageing vaults of the old city and quiet alleys in the bazar. All contrast with the loud avenues of tehran. The place is famous for its bird market and tiny grapes.

14 The Qazvin s central Bazar is a full part of the medieval complex. On the Friday, the activity is quiet reduced.

15 BAZAR OF QAZVIN : the main alley doesn t feature the usual void of most other galleries of this Bazar.

21 Most Imamzadeh Buildings have side windows on the street side. This allows the people to view the Coffin and to spend a few minute praying. As mentionned earlier, most imamzadeh Beggings are propiatory, and i was astounded observing so many people making wishes in a short time!

22 At these windows, Fellows used to leave small fabric Pieces when their Wish turns fulfilled, at least. So they remind and confess their wish was fullfilled thanks to the permanent benevolence & mightiness ( baraka) of the imamzadeh.. Unlike the Sufis, the involved baraka is here not related to their sufi initiation. Very similar facts can be observed the same all over the Near East, and variants exist in most other sunni countries.

29 FANFARES CELEBRATE ARBAEEN, QASVIN ARBAEEN commemorates the 40 th day after ASHURA Mourning of the emam HOSEN. This is celebrated as the end of the emam HOSEN s Mourning. The procession feature the Sinezani, the Hejleh and the same Noekhan as ASHURA

31 Near the Imamzadeh Hosein building, stands the tiny Workshop of the Lutemaker Ali Moh d Reza RAHIM. When I discovered this at least, I was in Wonderland so I asked the Member Card! 34 HAVE A TEA AT LUTEMAKER RAHNIM s In the occasion of the ARBAEEN festival, we visited Lutemaker RAHNIM and he called two musicians for instrumental demos ( TAR lute and Ney). We can discuss about players and favourites. I collected also more data for the next coming Instrumental Photo Report.
