1 Be Confident! God Lives In You! Part 3, Indwelling of God the Holy Spirit (Revised )
2 We ve talked about the indwelling of God the Father and God the Son in believers during the Church Age. Now we will talk about the indwelling of God the Holy Spirit. When we become believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, God the Holy Spirit indwells us; He lives inside of us! He never leaves us! He is going to make us into the image of Jesus Christ! What a fantastic sight that will be. Now we know that has to be done with supernatural power! Philippians 1:6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Page 1
3 One of the reasons God the Holy Spirit indwells believers is to break the power of the old sin nature over human life. The old sin nature lives in the body. It was passed down to us through Adam. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is in the body. Remember, we receive it when we become believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. We have to use our volition to choose to go with the power of the Holy Spirit and be at peace; or with the power of our old sin nature and live in fear. They both battle for control of our souls. It s a real battle! However, the Holy Spirit has supernatural power. Let s choose to live by the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit and have His power break the power of our old sin natures! Galatians 5:17 For the flesh [old sin nature] sets its desire against the Spirit; and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. 4 The indwelling of God the Holy Spirit creates a temple in the body of every Church Age believer for the indwelling of Christ, the Shekinah Glory. Jesus is holy, righteous and pure and He wants a place like that to dwell. The Holy Spirit makes that cozy place for the Lord Jesus Christ in the believer s body! In the Church-age, every believer is the holy temple of God. That truth should make us very confident in God! 1 Corinthians 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit Who is in you, Whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? Colossians 1:27 To whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope [confidence] of glory [Shekinah Glory]. Page 3
5 The indwelling of the Holy Spirit sets up a base of operations in each Church Age believer s body, or a place for the use of His omnipotence. This is so we have available to us the power to live in the predesigned plan of God. He never takes that base of operations away from us. The Holy Spirit is just waiting and ready to give us His power. It is up to us to choose to let the Holy Spirit do His job. If we choose to walk in the Spirit, we say we are filled with the Holy Spirit. This means we choose to live by the power of the Holy Spirit and not by the power of our old sin nature, the flesh. Galatians 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh [old sin nature]. Page 4
6 Church Age believer, be confident! God lives in you! The Trinity indwells your body! You can be comfortable knowing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are always with you. They will never leave you! Keep that in mind in times of joy and in times of sorrow, in times of contentment and in times of difficulty! God knew billions of years ago everything you would go through in life, and He provided help for you all along the way. If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? Page 5
