Please ensure your child leaves for camp rested and impress on them the importance of going to bed on time during camp. 3 DRESS CODE Make sure your students do NOT pack anything that: Advertises alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs Explicitly or implicitly promotes racism, sexism, or hatred of any group or person Explicitly or implicitly refers to sexual actions or situations Has spaghetti straps or is sleeveless, except for sleepwear/swimwear All shirts must have sleeves Is excessively short or tight fitting. While at camp, we ask that students: Wear modest, one-piece bathing suits or two-piece suits covered with a dark colored t-shirt. Wear sleeved t-shirts (no tank-tops) and modest shorts (when hands are extended to the back or the front, finger tips must touch fabric). Wear modest shorts, dresses, slacks, and jeans for worship. Long pants or knee length skirts are required for students or adults participating in worship on stage Do not dress in a way that calls attention to underwear (sagging your pants, rolling down your waistbands, etc.) *We invite you to join us as leaders in monitoring your group to ensure students are dressing appropriately. WHAT TO BRING Linens, towels, pillows, blankets or sleeping bag Water bottle that you can refill and carry with you Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes (for outdoor activities and recreation) Bible, notepad, and pen Toiletries such as soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, etc. Sun protection Spending money for snacks, camp store, and missions offering (optional) DO NOT BRING alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs, fireworks, water guns, or any kind of weapon DO NOT BRING radios, ipods, CD players, play station portables or other gaming devices, roller blades, skateboards- if students bring cell phones, please encourage your student not to use cell phone except during Hang 3

4 LATE NIGHT - We don t want to ruin the surprise by telling you too much, but there are a couple of themed LATE NIGHTS. Night of First Full Day: ALIVE: a party with music, lights, glow sticks, black lights, lots of fun and more. Think rave! Night of Second Full Day: FREE: a time of self-guided introspection and worship with stations and hands-on activities. Students will need their smartphone or ipod and ear buds. More details to come at a later date. Night of Third Full Day: VARIETY SHOW: Students come ready to try out for the variety show! Tryouts will be held on Tuesday during afternoon free time. Last Night (or afternoon): MEGA RELAY: Get your game faces on and come ready to compete for the FUGE Cup! MISSIONS OFFERING Student Fusion Summer Camp and FUGE Camps will again partner with the North American Mission Board (NAMB) and the International Mission Board (IMB) to support missions both here at home as well as around the world. The portion of the missions offering for NAMB will assist in two areas of focus: SEND North America and Current Canada. Through SEND North America, NAMB helps to mobilize churches and individuals by providing missions opportunities throughout North America. NAMB will train and implement church planting strategies to reach 5 regions and 32 cities across North America with the message of God s love, mercy and redemption through Christ. Current Canada is a summer internship program for students to partner with church planters across Canada to impact a culturally diverse nation that is less than 10% evangelical Christian. 5 The portion of the missions offering for IMB will provide vital funds to support two arenas of work: the ministries of missionaries in Sub-Saharan Africa, and ministry efforts all over the world through missionaries hosting International World Changers (IWC) projects. In Africa, this year s offering is the culmination of a five-year partnership between FUGE and IMB to evangelize and disciple Unreached People Groups (UPG s) like the Karamojong tribes of northern Uganda and South Sudan. TRACK TIMES Tracks are a time each afternoon for students to explore and develop a variety of interests. Students will sign up for their track choices on registration day. The tracks offered during Student Fusion are listed below. Some tracks may charge a $5 fee (indicated by * below). They will be going off site to do a special missions project. CAMP BIBLE STUDY Used by permission of Lifeway Christian Resources Share the following outline with your camper before they leave for camp so they will have a heads up about the theme and daily study. You may want to use this outline for devotions leading up to camp. BIBLE STUDY OVERVIEW Alive & Free: A Book Study on James As believers, our lives are to be set apart. The Christian walk should be attractive and contagious so people see the difference Christ makes and want to experience it for themselves. The call upon believers in the book of James describes a life full of action and virtue. LIFE QUESTIONS: Do others know by your actions that you are a professing believer? Why must we be doers of the Word and not hearers only? What do your words reveal about your heart? Do you approach life with a humble spirit? How do you respond when trials come your way? DAY ONE // ACT NOW Students will learn that authentic faith is more than claiming to believe in something. Faith in Christ transforms and compels us to action, while freeing us to live the full life to which God has called us. 7 Students will examine the power of words. With our speech, we have the ability to praise God, encourage others and speak truth; with that same tongue, we can tear down and bring destruction. We will discover how to discern Godly wisdom from that of the world. Scripture: James 3:1-18 Key Verse: James 3:17 DAY THREE // BOW DOWN Students will look at how living by faith requires submission, humility, and obedience before God. Students will see that freedom in Christ is greater than anything this world has to offer. Scripture: James 4:1-12 Key Verse: James 4:10 DAY FOUR // STAY TRUE Students will understand that following Christ is not a guarantee of a life free from suffering. The trials we face produce endurance in us when we walk by faith through them. We can rejoice in the freedom of knowing that in Christ we are made complete. 8 Highland Lakes Baptist Camp is located on State Road 39. The camp entrance is four miles south of Monrovia or four miles north of State Highway 67. Take Interstate I-70 to exit 59 (14 miles west of the I-70 and I-465 exchange at the Indianapolis Airport). Take State Road 39 south six miles. Highway 39 makes a jog at the intersection in Monrovia. The camp entrance is on the left 1/2 mile south of the white water tower. CAMP LEADERSHIP EVENT DIRECTOR/CAMP DIRECTOR WEEK 1 Allison Kinion Allison serves as the Director of Women s Missions and Ministry and is the Youth Events Coordinator for the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana. Allison also serves at the Youth Director at Calvary Baptist Church in Greenfield, Indiana, working with students there since May CAMP DIRECTOR WEEK 2 - Shelby Smith Shelby Smith has been working with the students of Hope Community Church since 2004 and has been the Student Pastor of Hope Community Church since September
