1 Dear Brothers and Sisters, Thank you very much for congratulating us on our Subud 45 th anniversary in Suriname. We appreciate this and feel grateful and honored. The National Committee and their wings together with Susila Dharma have done a very good job organizing this celebration night on November 8th Everyone was invited, active as well as not active members received an invitation. On the same night Susila Dharma Suriname also celebrated their 25 th anniversary. They too had friends invited who have worked together with them fulfilling the goals of Susila Budi Dharma. You can imagine that it was a blessed night!! The night began with a minute of quiet time to Thank Almighty God for the guidance, grace and blessings we received for what Subud Suriname and Susila Dharma are now today, also for our loved ones who have left us, we are praying that they are in God s hands again. Chair of Subud Suriname: Patrick Karijodirono Further there were formal speeches. Patrick Karijodirono as the National Chair of Subud Suriname looked back and reminded us of how it all began. Originally Subud Suriname did not have a Subud house to practice the Latihan. The groups did their Latihan in the homes of members. Until in 1984 the organization received a generous gesture from the family Jatin s: a piece of land to build our Subud house on in Paramaribo. So the members started together as one unity with what we say in the Indonesian language Gotong Royong.

2 The building blocks were self-made with cement. We had many in-kind donations as in material, for example, the roof of the building. Also for financial support the members grew vegetables and tubers and sold them for a reasonable price. He encouraged the brothers and sisters to do the Latihan regularly. It will bring us a balance in our material and spiritual life; this will also have an affect for our afterlife. Therefore we need an organization to ensure the facilities and accommodations and the guidelines in the preamble of the World Subud Association constitution prevent chaos. He encourages also members to give their strength and talent when you are asked to do a Job for Subud Suriname. Let us maintain the organization because we certainly know that the experience and the changes you receive in your life with the Grace of Almighty God by doing the Latihan make you want to share this with others. Subud House Paramaribo AD1984 Subud Suriname is still holding the Gotong Royong tradition and the result is the Subud house at Accaribo with a Loan and gesture of MSF. Patrick announced that the book of Pak Sunandang, the son of the late Pak Bang Bang who was a diplomat of Indonesia in Suriname, about the history of Subud Suriname dedicated to his father, is already translated in Dutch. It will not be long before the members will have the opportunity to read it in English. Subud House Accaribo renovated in 2010 Rachman Jatin, an honorary Helper was the second speaker. He emphasized the offers we should make in our life to achieve Susila Budi Dharma; Living according to the will of Almighty God. This effort will refine your spiritual life and the outcome will be a blessing and guidance in your daily life. 3 the Koran; Eid Ul Adha, and also occurs in the Bible. Rachman Jatin The third speaker was the Kejiwaan Councillor, Arvin Misran. He took the opportunity to remind us the meaning of the Latihan Kejiwaan, the Indonesian word for "inner training" is all about what Subud is. In the Latihan, with full awareness, the mind awakens; it moves and speaks from the inner state, empty of desires and thoughts. This is the cleansing and is often accompanied by a sense of worship. Subud is to this inner life to live in this material world. Each of us receives for themselves a higher source in what they need. In this way one can come to their true nature and feel their talents and an inner certainty and direction in how to live. changing attitudes and values. One can also use the Latihan for inner guidance for the best attitude or action in a difficult situation. On this occasion he briefly went over some things that seem small, but are vital to those who sit in the organization who can understand what this means. Subud is an organization of people from different countries, different nationalities and different religions, but they all have the same mission and that is our devotion to God Almighty through the Latihan. Therefore, it is vitally important to be statutory / legal as an organization like this so we do not get into chaos or often involved with worldly problems. Do not have doubts when the organization asks you to occupy a job in a committee because God will bless you and guide you. Finally we had Alia Tanoesemito-Tjitrodipo, chair of Accaribo, congratulating Subud Suriname on behalf of the members of Accaribo. She wishes that we can continue fulfilling our goals in the future so that Subud Suriname can grow reaching a higher level according to God s Will. And that almighty God shall guide and bless us in this journey. I want to say, before closing my speech, that each one of us experiences the feeling, just how I feel it at this moment: I am Subud and Subud is me. Thank you brothers and sisters, God bless you all!!! You will feel the usual effect of the Latihan as a feeling of wellbeing and relaxation. 4 Presenting 45 years Subud Suriname Subud Youth dancers from Accaribo in action This was well received by the members because it brought memories, joy and laughter. And indeed there was enough food and beverage for all the attendees. For this special occasion were two plaques unveiled, one for Subud Suriname and the other for Susila Dharma. We had a dance group of Accaribo performing dances with a touch of cultural and pop music. Beautiful to mention that some of the dancers are Subud members! And also a music group was at that night with some Subud members and friends to uplift the sphere and to stir everyone with their dancing shoes on the dance floor. We can say that the mission was achieved. And of course what is a birthday celebration without a birthday cake!!! Not one but two birthday cakes have to be cut in honor to Subud Suriname and Susila Dharma. Subud cake 45 th anniversary
