With guidance, you will select a song or piece of music to work on over the lessons, considering your current ability and how you would like to develop. You will also spend a little time analysing performances of successful artists and looking at ways you can improve your own performance. 12 Year 7 PE knowledge organiser: term 3, skeletal system and movement MOVEMENTS AT A JOINT There are lots of different movements available at the joints including: Flexion: the movement of bending a limb, decreasing the angle at a joint, Extension (the movement of straightening a limb, increasing the angle at a joint), Adduction (the movement of a bone toward the midline of the body), Abduction: moving a bone away from the midline of the body, Plantar flexion (example: movement in which the toes point downwards) Dorsiflexion (example- movement in which the toes point upwards towards tibia) Supination: the action of rotating the forearm so that the palm of the hand is turned up or forward Pronation: the action of rotating the forearm so that the palm of the hand is turned Rotation: Rotation is movement in which the bone or a whole limb, pivots or revolves around a single long axis

14 Key questions that you should know the answer to, along with your OWN views. Did Jesus THE MAN really exist? Historians generally agree that a MAN called Jesus existed just over 2000 years ago during the reign of the Roman Empire. Historical writers who were NOT Christians such as Josephus and Tacitus wrote about Jesus and the accounts of what people said he did. The problem was that Jesus and his immediate friends never felt the need to write anything down. The Romans tended not to keep records of common rebels and criminals like Jesus. What did Jesus look like? Jesus is the most painted person in History, yet there is so much disagreement about what he looked like. Different cultures around the world tend to depict him different;y. In Africa, for example, Jesus is usually depicted as black. Many people believe that because Jesus was from the Mediterranean, he would most likely have had dark hair and skin. Because Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God, this often leads them to link what Jesus looked like with what God might look like. For many people, appearance does not matter as much as what he taught. What Key things happened in Jesus life? The key events in the life of Jesus are often considered to be: Birth (but we know very little about Jesus childhood), Baptism (by John the Baptist), Temptations (for 40 days and nights in the wilderness), Parables and Teachings (known as Jesus ministry), Miracles (a variety of miracles were believed to have happened). The last week of the life of Jesus is also important: His Last Supper (what the bread and wine symbols). Arrest, Trial and Crucifixion (by the Romans) and Resurrection (a key belief of Christians). Weeks later, Jesus is believed to have risen to heaven to join God his Father in heaven (the Ascension) What has happened since Jesus? When Jesus died, some people believed he was the Son of God, but they called themselves Christians because most Jewish people at the time didn t believe Jesus was the Son of God. Because this was a big difference in their beliefs, both groups couldn t have the same name! Christianity spread through the Roman Empire, with the Romans eventually deciding to become Christian. It then gradually became the biggest religion in the world. Christians believe that Jesus will come back in the future (2nd Coming)
