3 Host Hotels Holiday Inn & Suites (attached to the Patriot Center) 1000 Imperial Ave., Rothschild, WI Phone Group rates will be $88.00 for a single or double room. I will give them a copy of our tax exempt status but they will charge a room tax of 7.5%. They will hold 60 rooms for each of the two nights (6/20 and 6/21) until May 23, Cancellation by 6:00 p.m. CST day of arrival after which a charge of one night's stay will be applied. Same rule for consecutive days. Requests for rollaways will be honored on an availability basis at a charge of $10.00 per day. Individuals should make their own reservations and pay all charges including room tax and all incidental charges. Stoney Creek Inn 1100 Imperial Ave., Rothschild, WI Phone or Group rates will be $89.00 for a deluxe king (2 reserved), deluxe double (5 reserved), standard king (5 reserved), or standard double (15 reserved) rooms for both Friday 6/20 and Saturday 6/21 nights. Block of rooms will be held until May 20, Individuals should make their own reservations and pay all charges. Check-in after 3 p.m. and check out before 11 a.m. Inroom amenities: free phone calls, designated phone line for each guest room, personal voice mail, high-speed internet access, cable television, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and handicap accessible rooms are available. Expanded free hot breakfast served daily. Fresh hot coffee available 24 hrs. a day, children 17 and under stay free with an adult in the room. Banquet Entertainment The Promise Quartet he Promise Quartet is made up of four Central T Wisconsin area men who have been singing together for nearly 20 years. The men and their families are good friends and enjoy the comradeship that the Quartet provides. They have always loved singing Southern Gospel music and feature Cathedral, Oak Ridge Boys and the Gaither Vocal Band style music. They are asked to sing at many different churches, religious functions and civic organizations. They have produced three Southern Gospel CD's and one Christmas CD. It is a joy for them to share their message of hope through music. 4 Keynote Speaker Heidi Floyd t two months pregnant with her son, Heidi A Floyd, a happily married mother of three (and now of four), was diagnosed with breast cancer. While undergoing treatment, she faced the challenge of balancing her guiding faith, family, her own health, her son's health and work during an otherwise joyful time in her life. With grace, honesty and humor, Heidi will recount her exceptional story of faith, strength and courage. She shares personal accounts of her experiences with breast cancer to deliver a compelling message of the importance of research for prevention, detection, treatment and a cure. Heidi has become an advocate for the cause. She has spoken to thousands of men and women across the country at intimate events, company meetings and national conventions, relating her moving story and inspirational message. Bible Study Leader Rev. Arleigh Lutz, Jr. e are blessed W to have our own the Rev. Arleigh Lutz write and present the Bible study for our convention. Many of us have known Rev. Lutz from the offices and ways that God has used him in our own North Wisconsin District throughout his lifetime. Having been born in Almond, Wisconsin, most of his years of service have been to our own district. He has pastored in Barron, Rice Lake, Port Edwards, Augusta, and Wausau and served as President of the North Wisconsin District from He has also served on many boards and shares a passion for missions, service and sharing the Gospel. He received a D. D. degree from Concordia University Wisconsin in We are truly blessed to have Rev. Arleigh Lutz, Jr. write and present an inspiring Bible study on the theme Come to the Mountain. 10 Mission Tidings January 2014

5 Mission Speaker Gary Thies ary W. Thies, Mission Development G Counselor for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod will be the Mission speaker. He will present an exciting and unusual message of mission and what is taking place in the mission division our Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. This multi-media presentation will feature artifacts from the various fields, PowerPoint presentation, and back-country videos. Born and raised on a farm, Gary has traveled to more than 75 countries including the jungle countries of east and western Africa, and even more recently in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Siberia. He has traveled to Thailand, the jungles of New Guinea and the Luncheon Speakers Luncheon A: Up Close and Personal with Missionary Gary Gary Theis se this time to get up U close and personal with the man we have come to know as Missionary Gary. mountain country of the Tagakaulo people on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Macau and Hong Kong. His miracle stories have been a part of his presentations in more than 1000 churches throughout the United States. His message will impact the lives of all who attend and reveal that God does call people even today from all walks of life. It shows that God has a plan for each and every person. Hearing the miracle stories of what God is doing at this time in history will be an encouragement and a shocking awakening for all who attend. From being born and raised on a farm near Mapleton, Iowa, to having spent 33 years in banking, real estate and insurance, how did God use this man to touch so many lives over the years and today in the work of missionaries? 6 Luncheon Speakers (Continued from page 11) Luncheon B: Heidi s Guide to Praying...the Worst Possible Way? nly after Heidi has O walked so closely with her Lord can she share some inspiring words titled, Heidi s Guide to Praying the Absolute, Unquestionable and Unhesitatingly Worst Possible Way. Heidi states that this title may sound crazy, but if you know her, it makes perfect sense. Enjoy this special time with Heidi as she shares from her heart and experience in prayer. The can between them contained over $400 in loose change collected from both services for the LWML mite project. For more than 30 years, Our Savior Lutheran Church quilters (Cheri Generotzke, Nancy Atwater, Joanne Abens, Pat Hasenberg, Eunice Ball, Lois Pietz, and Carolynn Gleisner) have been contributing handmade quilts for Lutheran World Relief. This year they assembled and sent 170 quilts. In addition, this year they also collected and assembled 20 baby layettes and sewed 50 school book bags that were filled with school supplies to be mailed with the quilts. LWR distributes the quilts, layettes and book bags to refugees and other people in need. Adele Bluhm Luncheon C: Hymns and Hers dele graduated with a A teaching degree from Concordia, Seward, Nebraska and taught at Lutheran schools in Santa Monica, Ca, Calispell, Montana, and at Trinity in Wausau, Wis., where she was the assistant minister of music for 29 years before retiring. Besides teaching music classes, directing choirs and playing the organ, Adele has written several children s Christmas services, several of which have been published. Enjoy her talents as she shares her passion and educates her audience about women hymn writers with her presentation Hymns and Hers.
