1 WHO IS GOD? TODD CAPPS When you think about God, what do you think about? Do you think about how big He is? Who made Him? What is His purpose? The Bible helps us know who God is, what He has done, and what He will do in the future. Here are some things to think about. God is the one and only true God. Some people believe in more than one god, but there is only one true God. He is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (the Trinity). God has always existed. No one created God. He will live forever. God wants you to know who He is. The Bible says to seek God. When you seek something, you look for it. God is everywhere. God sees, hears, and knows everything you do. He is always with you. In fact, God said He will never leave you or turn away from you. God can do anything and everything. No one or no thing can limit God's powers. He has more power than the weather. He controls the sun, moon, and stars. He controls everything that happens. God can do EVERYTHING! God told the people who wrote the Bible what to write. As you read the Bible, you will learn more about God. Every verse in the Bible helps you know about God. God has special names. Read the names of God on page 42. What do these names tell you about God? How does it make you feel to know the God who created the universe wants to have a relationship with you? This week you will learn more about God and how He wants to be a part of your life. God wants to have a relationship with you. He created you unique. You are the only "you" in the world. No one else is exactly like you. God sent His Son, Jesus, to provide forgiveness of sin so you can have a relationship with Him. God wants to forgive you of your sins. He wants you to pray and spend time talking and listening to Him. 38 I'M A CHRISTIAN, NOW WHAT?

2 1 GOD IS CREATOR VERSE OF THE : Genesis 1:1 / CHALLENGE: Genesis 1:1 2:3 DO! Go outside and count how many things you see, hear, and feel that God created. How many things did you count? Draw a picture of your favorite items. God was not created. He has always been and will always be. God created the world from nothing. God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh. God is the creator of all things. God created a beautiful world for you to enjoy. Pray Thank God for the world He created. 2 GOD IS ALL-POWERFUL VERSE OF THE : Deuteronomy 3:24 / CHALLENGE: 1 Kings 18:20-39 DO! What makes something powerful? Rate these things from most powerful (1) to least powerful (5): Think about the power of each item. Compare each item to God's power. Which is more powerful, God or the item? How powerful is God? (Place an X on the line to show how powerful you think God is.) VERY POWERFUL Here are just a few things God can do. Heal (Psalm 30:2) Protect (Daniel 6:20-21) Provide (Philippians 4:19) Answer prayer (Psalm 17:6) Raise Jesus from the dead (Acts 4:10) Power to do all things (Mark 10:27) Pray Thank God for His unlimited power. 3 3 GOD KNOWS ALL VERSE OF THE : Psalm 147:5 CHALLENGE: Psalm 139:1-6 DO! Test your brain: How much blood is in your body? How tall will you be when you grow up? Do you know the answers to these questions? God does. He knows everything!?? How do you feel knowing God knows all about you??? Is there anything you wish God did not know about you??? Is there anything you need to ask God to forgive you for thinking, saying, or doing? God knows everything you think, say, and do (Job 36:5). God knows everywhere you go (Joshua 1:9). God knows how you treat your friends (Proverbs 17:17). God knows if you obey your parents (Ephesians 6:1). God knows when you sin and will forgive you (1 John 1:9). Pray Thank God that He knows all things about you. Ask Him to forgive you of things you think, say, and do that do not please Him. 40 GOD IS THE ONE TRUE GOD VERSE OF THE : Jeremiah 10:10 CHALLENGE: John 17 DO! Test your brain: How many hairs are on your head? 4 I'M A CHRISTIAN, NOW WHAT? HOW MANY PEOPLE LIVE IN YOUR CITY? HOW MANY STARS CAN YOU COUNT AT NIGHT? HOW MANY CARS DO YOU S EVERY? HOW MANY FRIENDS DO YOU HAVE? Are all these numbers more than one? How many things can you list that there is only one of? The Bible says there is only ONE TRUE GOD (Jeremiah 10:10). God wants you to obey Him (Jeremiah 7:23). God wants you to worship Him (Psalm 95:6). God does not want you to worship other gods (Exodus 20:4). God wants you to not say His name in ways that disrespect Him (Exodus 20:7). Pray Thank God for being the one true God. Ask Him to help you keep Him most important in your life.

God gives people the freedom to choose to obey Him or not (Joshua 24:15). God controls the weather (Psalm 135:7). God controls the waves in the oceans (Psalm 107:29). God controls the stars, moon, and sun (Genesis 1:14-19). Pray Thank God that He is in control of everything. Ask Him to help you make choices that please and honor Him. 6 GOD IS PERFECT VERSE OF THE : Psalm 18:30 / CHALLENGE: Matthew 5:43-48 DO! Find the mistakes in this picture. How many mistakes have you made this week? Did you learn anything from your mistakes? God is perfect, He does not make mistakes (Matthew 5:48). God's ways are perfect (Psalm 18:30). God's teachings are perfect (Psalm 19:7). God wants you to be perfect (Matthew 5:48), but because you sin, you are not perfect (Romans 3:23). Pray Express appreciation to God that He is perfect.
