Sabbath of Comfort Lamentations 2:9 Her gates are sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and broken her bars: her king and her princes are among the Gentiles: the law is no more; her prophets also find no vision from the LORD. Isaiah 40:1,2 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely, this great nation is a wise and understanding people. For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for? And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day? Deuteronomy 4:30,31 When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice; (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them. Deuteronomy 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children forever! Says Your God. Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her, that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned; for she has received from the Lord s hand double for all her sins. Comfort: #5162 nacham (naw-kham). To sigh, i.e. breathe strongly; to be sorry, i.e. (in a faborable sense) to pity, console; comfort, ease, repent (-er, ing, self). Isaiah Chapter 40 through Chapter 44 is one continuous portion of dialogue from the LORD and contains ways to comfort His people. As He pleaded in the Torah Portion, so He pleads with us in these five chapters. Isaiah 41:8-10 But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the descendants of Abraham My friend. You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called from its farthest regions, and said to you you are My servant, I have chosen you and have not cast you away: fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. 5

A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth. He will not fail nor be discouraged, till He has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands shall wait for His law. Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them. Isaiah 43:16-19 Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea and a path through the mighty waters, who brings forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power (They shall lie down together, they shall not rise; they are extinguished, they are quenched like a wick). Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Amos 3:7 Surely the LORD GOD does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. Psalm 25:14 The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him. And He will show them His covenant. Isaiah 42:22-23 But this is a people robbed and plundered; all of them are snared in holes, and they are hidden in prison houses; they are for prey, and no one delivers; for plunder, and no one says, RESTORE! Who among you will give ear to this? Who will listen and hear for the time to come? RESTORE: #7725-shuwb (shoob). To turn back; bring again, home again, carry back again, go back home, rescue, restore, retrieve, cause to return. Isaiah 43:4 Since you were precious in My sight, you have been honored, and I have loved you; therefore I will give men (In Hebrew text the word is #120 adam (aw-dam) a human being) for you, and people for your life. And to the south, Do not keep them back! Bring My sons from afar and My daughters from the ends of the earth- Isaiah 49:22 Thus says the LORD GOD: Behold, I will lift My hand in an oath to the nations, and set up My standard for the peoples; they shall bring your sons in their arms, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders. Ezekiel 20:41-42 I will accept you as a sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you before the Gentiles.
