C C Merciful God, I have not relied on you fully for sustaining breath. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Amen. My friends, we are sustained by God through Christ amidst the very depths of our being despite any wrong-doings or distance we may feel. God who is rich in love, full of grace, and extravagant with mercy freely offers forgiveness from all sin, enriching our lives and relieving our anxiety. Breathe. Swim. Enjoy! 10 INSTALLATION OF MARK WEAVER, DIRECTOR OF TEEN MINISTRY A After prayerful deliberation, we, of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, have appointed Mark Weaver to serve in the position of Director of Teen Ministry. M M M M C Our Lord Jesus, who came among us as a servant, calls us to faith and a life of loving service to our neighbor. You come among us as one invited to render a particular service, a gift from God to inspire us to love and good works. Mark, in the presence of this assembly will you commit yourself to this new trust and responsibility, in the confidence that it comes from God? I will, and I ask God to help me. Will you carry out this ministry in accordance with the holy scriptures and with the confessions of the Lutheran church and in harmony with the constitutions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and Lutheran Church of the Resurrection? I will, and I ask God to help me. Will you be diligent in your study of the holy scriptures and faithful in your use of the means of grace and in prayer? I will, and I ask God to help me. Trusting in God s care, will you seek to grow in love for those you serve, strive for excellence in your skills, and adorn the gospel of Jesus Christ with a godly life? I will, and I ask God to help me. Almighty God, who has given you the will to do these things, graciously give you the strength and compassion to perform them. Amen. 12 THE GREAT THANKSGIVING It is indeed right and good that we should everywhere and always offer thanks and praise to you, Holy God, mighty and immortal, through Christ, our Lord. The day of your final Jubilee dawned in your Son, Jesus, your Anointed One who announced good news to the poor, bound up the broken-hearted, and set the captives free. And so, with the earth, sky, and sea and all their creatures, with angels and archangels and the whole company of heaven we praise your name and join their unending hymn: CONGREGATONAL SONG Holy, Holy, Holy ELW

13 EUCHARISTIC RAYER Blessed are you, Holy God, our Host, our Feast, our only home. You welcome your whole creation to the table of your goodness. You came as guest to Abraham and Sarah and through them blessed all nations. You fed your people Israel manna in the desert and answered their pleas with water from a rock. You hear the cries of those in need in every time and place. In the fullness of time you sent your Son, Jesus, who, for our sake, became poor and made his home among the hungry. In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. Again after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me. Remembering, therefore, his welcome to outcasts and his eating with sinners, his own hunger and thirst, his death and resurrection, we proclaim the mystery of our faith until he comes again to share the feast that has no end. 13

14 Holy God, holy and merciful, receive our prayers and praise as Jesus received the cries of the poor, and renew us by your Spirit, until your mercy mends all that sin has torn and we feast forever in the company of Jesus, through whom all glory and honor is yours, with the Holy Spirit, in your holy Church, now and forever. Make us bold, O merciful God, to address you as our Abba as we pray: (Abba is an intimate word used by Jesus to address his Father as we might say, Daddy) LORD'S RAYER C Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 19 RAYER AFTER COMMUNION A Let us pray, C We give you thanks, O God, that you make your home with us, bringing heaven to earth in this holy meal. Fill us with your Spirit as we go from here, that we may wipe away tears, tend to those in mourning and pain, seek the healing of the nations, and bring to earth the presence of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. SENDING OF COMMUNION VISITORS A Eternal God, whose glory is revealed in the crucified and risen Lord, bless those who go forth to share your word and sacrament with our sisters and brothers who are sick, homebound or imprisoned. In your love and care, nourish and strengthen those to whom we bring this communion in the body and blood of your Son, that we may all feast upon your abundant love made known in Jesus Christ our Lord. 23 COMMEMORATIONS FOR THE WEEK: Mikael Agricola, Bishop of Turku, died 1557 Sunday, April 10, 2016 Consecrated bishop of Turku, Finland, without the approval of the pope, Agricola began a reform along Lutheran lines. In only three years, he translated the New Testament and worship texts into Finnish, in the process establishing the rules of Finnish writing that are still used today. 23
