He had a purpose in mind when He brought the two of you together! Success in any area of life happens on purpose, never by accident! In marriage success only happens when you are in agreement and committed to the same purpose! Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

Most couples are not in agreement, yet they want to WALK TOGETHER No wonder the great level of problems (disagreement, fighting, stress, strain, rancor, bitterness, unhappiness, etc.) in homes! A house divided against a house falleth (Luke 11:17b)

7 February Teaching Recap: Developing Your Child's Vision/Dream of Possibilities Admonition = Counsel/Caution/Reproof = Correction! Correction sometimes may need to be hard, but it does not always have to be it should be mostly gentle! Many children have already departed from the way they should go...and their parents are sweeping things under the rug! They are going to give account to God on the assignment! Colossians 4:17: And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.

8 Text = Ephesians 4:29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear (NASB).

9 What is Posterity? Posterity is a noun meaning future generations Our words carry enormous weight. More than we sometimes think. They often impact people for decades, providing the courage to press on, or one more reason to give up. King Solomon said, Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Every day, we are shaping reality for someone by the words that we use. The choice is ours, How will our words impact others?

10 I read a post that gave yearly death rates by the following as: Buffalos 7 Lions 500 Hippos 800 Spiders 5,000 Scorpions 7,000 Snakes 10,000 Mosquitoes 2,700,000 Tongue???? The smallest are the deadliest! James 3:6 - And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

11 Wholesome words build people up. This is the meaning of the word edification. It s the same word from which we get edifice. The Bible tells us, we are temples (1Corinthians 3:16 and 6:19). Wholesome words are timely. The right words at the wrong time can be just as damaging as the wrong words. Words left unsaid can also be hurtful. It takes discernment to know when and if to speak. The right word spoken at the right time can make all the difference for someone.

12 Wholesome words provide grace! This is more than merely being generous or accommodating - though those are both important. Grace is also the power of God to do His will (see Philippians 2:13). The story of Thomas Edison

14 Positive words can change the expression of genes, strengthening areas in our frontal lobes and promoting the brain s cognitive functioning. They prompt the motivational centers of the brain into action, and build elasticity So also, hostile language can disrupt specific genes A single negative word can increase the activity in our amygdala (the fear center of the brain).

15 Angry words send alarm messages through the brain, and they partially shut down the logicand-reasoning centers. Words can have long-lasting results that spread far beyond the person to whom they were hurled. Words are powerful!

16 Children who were brought up in a home where sharp criticism and cruel taunts were the norm can tell you that words can hurt even more than body blows The words live in their minds and the pain inflicted by someone who should love you and cherish you - a mother, a father who apparently doesn t think very much of you at all, can be long lasting! Painful/hurtful words replay themselves for decades to come!

17 Cruelty breeds cruelty! A child who knows nothing else but mockery, name calling, and sarcasm, will become the bully his parents were. That s the only way he knows how to survive

18 Tongue has no bones but it s strong enough to break the heart!

19 What children hear is what they become. The seeds of future wars are sown in the present so also the seeds of future peace are sown in the present. Every time we speak, we are prophesying so make sure your words match your mission don t speak against yours & your children s destiny. God has given parents a unique and powerful role to fulfill with our children. We influence them greatly, either for good or for ill.

20 "but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Praise the child, punish the behavior. Draw a line between how you view your child and their choices. Acceptance is about the person whereas approval is about their choices and behaviors. People can live without certainty but not without clarity about future direction.

21 Numbers 6:22-27 The Lord bless you and keep you: It is perfectly appropriate to add the name of your child after you: "The Lord bless you and keep you, Okoko. The Lord make His face shine upon you: His face, which shines "like the sun shining in its strength" (Rev. 1:16), radiates with His glory a glory that goes before us, defends from behind us and overspreads us with the excellence of His presence (see Is. 4:5; 58:8) essentially directing your steps!

22 And be gracious to you: These words commend the one so blessed to receive the unmeasured bounty of God's grace, which is that quality of His readiness to confer upon us the qualifying capability to receive daily power for living that we do not possess. (Phil. 1:6-7). The Lord lift up His countenance upon you: Again, The Lord is now invited to allow His smile of approval to surround the individual being blessed. (see Prov. 16:15; 20:8).

23 And give you peace: God's peace preserves the soul in the presence of turmoil (see Phil. 4:6-7)

24 Your thought influences what you say, which in turn will builds or break your future/generations/posterity! The children of Israel in Num13:28-33 saw themselves as grasshoppers, they saw the people of Jericho as giants. Goliath saw the armies of Israel but David saw the armies of the Living God in 1 Sam17:26. What do you see of your future and your children s future?

25 When you were born you cried and the world rejoiced; may you live your life so that when you die the world will cry and you will rejoice. It is not about what you accomplish on your own but what you accomplish through others!

26 Summary Lack of parental blessings will short circuit a child s future! Blessings have to be spoken as you see in Number 6:22-27 If you want to keep your children out of evil, bless them by speaking blessings into their lives Attach high value to the one being blessed (value of life picture a special future for him or her) Behind every great success is a great reason! What will you be remembered for? The thunder fire you or The Timothy your children have become?

27 Q&A What is the difference between acceptance & approval? (slide #20) Every time we speak we are prophesying, so how do you respond when a child has just taken a wrong step/action or made a poor choice? (slide #19) What should you say/not say as a parent?

28 Prayer (Blessing of Number 6) 22 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 23 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, 24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. 27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.
