2 The Order of Worship August 17, :30 AM To all who are spiritually weary and seek rest; to all who mourn and long for comfort; to all who struggle and desire victory, to all who sin and need a Savior; to all who are strangers and want fellowship; to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness; and to whoever will come--this church opens wide her doors and offers her welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Welcome Prelude *Call to Worship Rev. David Rea Minister: Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name! People: For his anger is but for a moment and his favor is for a lifetime. Minister: You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, that my heart may sing your praise and not be silent. People: O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever! 3 *Prayer of Invocation and Adoration Confession of Faith You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Honor your father and mother. You shall not kill. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. You shall not covet. Lord Jehovah reigns in majesty, we will bow before His throne. We will worship Him in righteousness, we will worship Him alone. He is Lord of Heaven, Lord of Earth, He is Lord of all who live. He is Lord above the universe, all praise to Him we give. Hallelujah to the King of Kings, hallelujah to the Lamb! Hallelujah to the Lord of Lords, who is the Great I Am. Public Confession of Sin Minister: Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! People: Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment. Minister: Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. People: Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Carlton Wynne Prayer of Thanksgiving The Lord s Table All those who trust in Christ alone for their salvation, are baptized, and belong to a Bible believing church are invited to partake of the Lord s Supper together, feeding on the grace of God by faith. If you have not put your trust in Christ, please allow the elements to pass you by and take this opportunity to meditate on the meaning of the Gospel. A Word to Parents: Baptized children are invited to the table after they have made a profession of faith and have been received as communing members by the Session of the church to which their parents belong. Please hold the bread, and we will partake together. Please drink the cup as you receive it. During the bread Rock of Ages NEW CITY FELLOWSHIP Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee; Let the water and the blood, from Thy riven side which flowed, Be of sin the double cure; cleanse me from its guilt and power. Sunday School 9am; Worship 10:10am Next week PPC will begin Sunday school for all ages. It will also be Promotion Sunday, where children will move up to the next age group of classes. Thursday 7am Study The Major Themes of the Bible Applied to Everyday Life Alyson Averitt will also be leading a women s Bible study Thursday mornings at 7am, beginning September 4th in the home of Amy Dunlap (6320 Town Hill Lane). Men's Softball Team PPC is continuing a men's softball team that competes on Tuesday nights in a church league, beginning September 2nd. The cost is approximately $50 a person depending on the number of men interested. The season will last until the beginning of November. Questions?
