We bless another candle this third week in Advent. Let us ask God to bless our family on this Third Sunday in Advent: God of rejoicing, this week we hear in our second reading that we are called to rejoice always. Help our family to be joyful in the midst of whatever happens this week. When we light the third candle on our wreath, let us bring your joy to our friends and neighbors this week. We ask this through Christ, who is the ultimate joyful gift to the world. Amen. 3 December 17, 2017 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT Sunday, December 24, (4th Sunday of Advent) the Sunday morning Mass schedule will be different. Because it is Christmas eve, the only morning Mass at St. Henry is at 9:00AM (no St. Mary English Mass that morning). The Christmas eve Masses will be, as in the past, at 4:00PM and 7:00PM at St. Henry, at Immaculate Conception Oratory in Haverhill. On Saturday, December 23 the time will not change, it is still at. Christmas Day is 9:00AM at both St. Henry and St. Mary. CEW IN 2018 A Christian Experience Weekend (CEW) retreat is a time to gather with fellow Christians and rediscover what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. It is a weekend to relax, spend time with friends (or make new ones!), and be filled with the Holy Spirit! Dates for the CEW are February for women and March 2-4 for men. Check out our church website for more information. The gift of a better life is always appreciated! WE ARE LOOKING FOR DOWNHILL SKIS! Boy Scout Troop 308 is looking for a pair of downhill skis. The troop has grown and they need a new sled for the Klondike Derby (think dogsled that has skis on the bottom). The sled is pulled (by boys instead of dogs) from site to site around the camp where the patrols of boys do tasks to earn points. This is a fun event they do every year in the winter so your donation will be enjoyed for years to come. Please contact Bethany Jablonski at the church office if you have a pair you'd like to donate. 5 THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT ORNAMENT UPDATE Thank you to Father Tom for sharing his art with us and thank you to everyone who purchased ornaments! What a wonderful outpouring of support for our youth! A few questions kept coming up while we were selling Q: Are these new ornaments this year? Yes! These are 2 completely new ornaments this year. We released 2 ornaments in 2016, and 2 different ornaments in Q: I really wish I had last year s ornaments so I can have a complete set, do you have any left from last year? We do have a few left from last year. They are available for purchase in the church office. Please note that we are not making additional ornaments, so when they are gone they are gone. Q: I don t have my money with me now, can I still buy ornaments? Yes! Stop by the church office during regular office hours. BLOOD DRIVE There will be a blood drive in the St. Francis Gym Tuesday, December 26, 9:00AM - 1:00PM. Sign-up details will be available soon. In the meantime, you can contact Dr. Herrick at St. Francis School if you want to reserve a slot. What a wonderful opportunity to give the gift of life! UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER PARTY! Wednesday Dec. 20th, Young Adults in their 20's are invited to an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party filled with food, drinks, and games! Party starts at 7pm in the Saint Henry's Youth Room at 7pm. Can't wait to see your festive outfits! OPEN YOURSELF TO THE HOLY SPIRIT IN 2018! The Wild Goose, a DVD series that invites Catholics into a more profound relationship with the Holy Spirit, will begin on Sunday, January 7th and Tuesday, January 9th. Each session will begin with a 20 minute film presentation, followed by prayer and discussion. The Wild Goose highlights God's love for us, Baptism along with the Sacraments, the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, and many more aspects of our personal relationship with God through the Holy Spirit. This study requires no workbook, so there is no cost for participating. Sessions will be held 6:30-7:30pm on Sunday evenings at St. Mary, or Tuesday evenings at St. Henry, babysitting available upon request on Tuesdays.
