3 World Day of Prayer is observed today, Sunday, April 22nd, in all Diocese. It is also known as "Good Shepherd Sunday." The purpose of this day is to publicly fulfill the Lord's instruction to, "Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into His harvest" (Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2). Please pray that young men and women hear and respond generously to the Lord's call to the priesthood, diaconate, religious life, societies of apostolic life or secular institutes. HAPPY 91st Birthday Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI! April 16, 2018 On Saturday, April 28, we will celebrate a 10 a.m. special Mass on the occasion of our second grade children from Holy Cross Reginal Catholic School and the Sacred Heart P.R.E.P. Program who will be making their First Holy Communion. It is always a very very special time in the life of a Parish. God is so good that He gives Himself to us in the Eucharist. Let us pray in a special way that these children, who will make their First Holy Communion, will lead their parents, family, and friends to an even deeper relationship with Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament. May Jesus, who comes to us in His Precious Body and Precious Blood in Holy Communion, make all of us, and in particular, the children who will make their First Holy Communion, more like Him. I wish to extend my congratulations to the children who will make their First Holy Communion and to their families. I wish also to thank all the Second Grade Teachers From Holy Cross Regional Catholic School and the Catechists and their Assistants in the Sacred Heart P.R.E.P. Click on 2018 Fair Sign-Ups and fill in the requested information (name, phone number, address, booth, date, and shift (early or late). Please note that some booths fill up very quickly and assignments are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Click on the 2018 Volunteer Schedule to see which shifts are currently available. If you have already signed-up to volunteer, you can also use this website to confirm your day and time. Be sure to scroll all the way to the right to see your name. Every volunteer will receive a personal from the Volunteer Coordinators, confirming your date, time, and booth. Sacred Heart Fair July Attention Generous Parishioners! A Pot of Gold is returning this July to our Fair! The Fair Committee is seeking donations of gift cards from family-friendly businesses. Some gift cards can be purchased through our parish Scrip Program. The denominations requested are $5, $10, and $25 (maximum). These items will be prizes that any member of a family (young or old) would be thrilled to win! Monthly Scrip Cards include: Regal, Bruster s, Panera Bread, Starbucks, Target, Dunkin Donuts, and many more! Monthly scrip cards can be ordered through Gretchen Brosius (wbrosius@aol.com) by June 8th. Weekly Scrip Cards (Giant, Kohl's, Texas Roadhouse, Applebee s, Outback, etc.) are always available after Masses and in the Parish Office. In this talk, it will be shown that this is a myth. Prof. Barr will start by clearing up some common misconceptions about Christian (and specifically Catholic) beliefs about God and Nature. In 1961, Gianna became pregnant with her fourth child. Toward the end of her second month of pregnancy, Gianna was struck with an unimaginable pain. After examination, the doctors gave her three choices: an abortion, which would save her life and allow her to continue to have children, but take the life of the child she carried; a complete hysterectomy, which would preserve her life, but take the unborn child's life, and prevent further pregnancy; or removal of only the fibroma, with the potential of further complications, which could save the life of her baby Gianna s wishes were: "If you must decide between me and the child, do not hesitate: choose the child, I insist on it. Save the baby." On April 21, 1962, Gianna successfully delivered by Caesarean section. The doctors tried many different treatments and procedures to ensure both lives would be saved. However, on April 28, 1962, a week after the baby was born, Gianna passed away from septic peritonitis. She is buried in Mesero, Italy.
