LETTER FROM SEARCH COMMITTEE Thank you for taking time to consider this opportunity or for referring individuals you think might be interested in exploring the EVP- Development role with East-West Ministries International. We are praying for you and your wisdom as you consider how the Lord may have placed you in a unique position to be an instrumental part of our process. People give their money to organizations for a number of good reasons. Certainly the donor must be in agreement with the mission and vision of the organization. But beyond that, most not-for-profit executives agree that a donor must have a special relationship with someone in the organization before they will make a significant financial contribution. East-West Ministries is looking for someone with the ability to develop and sustain the sort of relationships that bind major donors to the organization. Indeed, the philosophy of East- West is that we choose to serve our donors, across the board, with an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the resources they provide in obedience to the Lord and in support of our mission. Not everyone who gives sacrificially to the cause of Christ is drawn to the pure ministries of evangelism, training and church planting that dominate our mission. We recognize that our task is to lift up the 100-fold impact that God is allowing our missionaries and ministry partners to realize throughout the world. It is this clarity around our specific calling to share the Gospel in every nation and with every tribe around the world that our next EVP-Development must embrace. While the Lord tarries, we must be about the work of the harvest and we need a development leader who shares this core motivation and sense of urgency. Please be in prayer with us as we work to identify the person that the Lord of the Harvest has already prepared for this task. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, ideas and recommendations with our partners at Halftime Talent Solutions. In His Service, Kurt Nelson CEO and Chairman of the EVP-Development Search Committee
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW East-West Founders John Maisel and Bud Toole spent the 1980s traveling secretly behind the Iron Curtain. During this time, their organization trained 4,000 to 5,000 students in underground education operations. Communist governments soon collapsed resulting in the fall of the Iron Curtain in the early 1990s. The 300 million people who had been taught the doctrines of atheism began to seek real answers. A new need arose to train evangelists, church planters and pastors in these nations characterized by restricted Christian activity during its 70 years of communism. In May 1993, East-West Ministries International was established to train and mentor faithful and reliable national pastors. These pastors could then become a catalyst for indigenous church growth evangelizing the lost, equipping new believers, and establishing grace-oriented churches. Since 1993, the Lord has been faithful in expanding the reach of East-West Ministries. During this time of expansion and development, East-West has grown from two men to over 100 staff members and hundreds of national partners in 47 countries. We work primarily in limited access countries and among unreached and unengaged people groups around the world. East-West has five distinguishing factors from other, similar ministries. They focus their attention mainly on unreached and unengaged people groups, as well as areas with limited or restricted access to the gospel. They also focus on building and mobilizing the Church, because they believe the Church as a whole is central to God's plan for bringing the gospel to the world. East-West works through existing churches and national leadership, encouraging and empowering nationals to spread the gospel to create a self-sustaining ministry in these hard to reach areas. U.S. based leadership, with the partnership of local Christians, are constantly seeking creative and entrepreneurial approaches to evangelism and church planting in their target areas. Finally, East-West focuses on adaptability as they continue to grow in their understanding of missiological insights. As the organization continues its development, the leadership of East-West experienced transition in June of East-West founder, John Maisel, assumed the title of Founder and Chairman Emeritus, and Kurt Nelson, formerly Executive Vice President of Field Ministries, succeeded as President and CEO of East-West. As East-West continues to pursue the unreached for the sake of the gospel, we recognize that we are only a part of the bigger story that God Himself is writing. Our story represents the journey that God is leading us through. Our story is part of the Church s story. Our story is part of the story of each person we reach with the gospel.

Organization Mission Statement: East-West exists to mobilize the Body of Christ to evangelize the lost and equip local believers to multiply disciples and healthy churches among unreached peoples and/or in restricted access communities. Location: U.S. Home Office 2001 W. Plano Parkway, Suite 3000 Plano, TX
ORGANIZATION OUTREACH PROGRAMS East-West Ministries has dozens of initiatives across the world through which they share the gospel. Each initiative is tailored to the needs and culture of a particular region. Here are a few examples of the powerful work East-West Ministries is doing to share the gospel in unreached areas of the world. Power to Change: The Power to Change (P2C) campaigns use a symphony of all available media in some of the world s largest mega-cities to proclaim the message of the gospel to the masses. Through 30 days of nonstop communication, the campaigns tell how God provides the power to change a life through a personal relationship with His Son Jesus Christ. Muslim Initiative: Our Muslim Initiative is one of our most unique and progressive ministries because it utilizes an individual s passion to build relationships in Muslim communities. By becoming an established member of the community, missionaries have the opportunity to gradually share their faith in a highly contextualized way using the Quran, their own sacred text. East Asia University Opportunity: This is one of East-West's newest efforts. They work with local universities to supply teachers to teach conversational English and American culture. This access also allows the instructors to teach other courses, including Bible. The work of these teachers is so exciting because they are sharing the gospel with the future leaders of Eastern Asia and seeing them become disciples of Jesus. Business for Transformation: Business for Transformation (B4T) initiates the spiritual transformation of people and societies by creating stable and profitable, Kingdom-focused businesses. B4T aims to help mission-minded individuals in developing countries establish viable businesses providing a platform for building relationships that leads to sharing the gospel. The JESUS Film Projectors: The JESUS Film projectors are an innovative way to bring the Good News to remote villages. With the new Mini Vista Solar-Powered projection system, our national partners can travel great distances to show the JESUS Film to even the most remote regions of their countries. Each showing of the film brings Jesus to the masses exposing more than 100 people per viewing.
FIVE YEAR GOALS Beginning in January 2013, East-West Ministries will prayerfully pursue the following goals over the next five years, with the ultimate objective of making one million new disciples of Jesus Christ in the spiritually darkest areas of the world: MOBILIZE: Send 200 long-term missionaries Engage 500 church partnerships Send 1,000 annual short-term mission trip participants Engage 5,000 prayer partners EVANGELIZE: Reach 120 million people with the gospel EQUIP: Equip 250,000 local church leaders MULTIPLY: Plant 50,000 new churches, of which, at least 50% will be among unreached people groups
