Please join the celebration FROM THE DESK OF THE PASTOR Please note the following dates for your planning schedule. St. David Parish Annual Mass and Dinner for Valentines is on February 9, The Mass is at 7:00 PM followed by your favorite covered dish dinner in Father Curran Hall. Please call the rectory to register and list the food item(s) you will be bringing. Your dish of snack, salads, main course or desert is your ticket to the Dinner, e.g. Mashed potatoes with cream cheese, or roast beef with gravy and rolls. you do NOT need to bring enough for EVERY- BODY, just enough to share. Registrations must be made by February 7, Some beer and wine will be supplied by the parish for the sharing. On February 14h, Ash Wednesday, the distribution of ashes will take place during the Mass. Times will be announced next week. The Sacrament of Confirmation will take place on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 9:30 AM. There will be a mini-retreat on Saturday March 10th for all ministers to the altar. Please mark your calendars now. Deacon Christopher Mars will be our speaker. More details as needed. Father Ronald Check will be reassigned as of January 31st. Father Check has been a valued member of our parish as he assisted during the recovery period following my back surgery. In a very short time he has endeared himself to us. Thank you Father Check for being here at St. David Parish and we hope it was an enjoyable time for you too. Go with our prayers and gratitude. My name is Shannon Donnelly and it is an absolute joy to be sending this as EPIC s new youth minister! I am finishing up my undergrad at Cabrini University where I will obtain my Bachelor s degree in Religious Studies. I have been volunteering at my home parish s youth and young adult ministry and teaching CCD/PREP for 2-3 years. And now God told me I am ready to dive deeper into ministry! - Updates with E.P.I.C: We are looking to create a new logo for EPIC. The choir is always looking for new members. Most of the members do not read music; they learn by repetition during weekly rehearsals. All that is needed is the ability to sing on pitch.. For our faith to help, we need to give it more than an hour a week. That Man Is You helps men become better fathers and husbands by strengthening their faith and relationship with God. Meetings are held on Sunday mornings at 7:40 am and will consist of light breakfast, video on topic of day followed by discussion. For information call Mike Stelacio or Dave Dombrowski Instruments of God In the Gospels Jesus says, Amen, Amen I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever er receives me receives the one who sent me. These words remind us of an im- portant t reality of our communion with God. Whenever we come to Mass and receive the Lord Jesus He comes to dwell within our hearts. At the end of the Mass the Priest or Dea- con says, Ite, Missa Est, translated in various ways, The Mass is ended, Go in peace or an- other option on is, Go and announce the Gospel of the Lord. The Catechism, says the liturgy in which the mystery of salvation is accomplished concludes with the sending forth (mission) of the faithful, so that they may fulfill fill God s will in their daily lives (CCC 1332). The point is that the Lord sends each of us out. We go out into the streets and into our homes, our workplaces, our schools, ol s, we go to the shops, etc. We go out. And when we go, we go as ambassadors of Christ. Whenever anyone receives us, they re- ceive Christ who is within us. And the same is true of fall l whom we receive, for Christ is in them as well. l That is why the following words of Our Lord mean so much, Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. (John 15:4 :4-5) Let us do all that t we can to be good and holy instruments of God! Amen.
