Building Lives Around Music We are using a new curriculum that will center around MUSIC! 1st grade through 4th grade will be the target group. 5th and 6th graders will be an important part of this program-both as participants and as facilitators. High schoolers will be the trainees. We will sing at least once a month during a church service. This curriculum will include a short small group bible study session related to the music being introduced. Parents are invited to attend!! We will be in the small gym (right off of the main gym) and will meet from 9:30 to 10:30 am! Pre-school and Kindergarten will continue with Julia Kothera in the preschool classroom just past the mailroom. For questions or sign-up, please contact Lisa Steinwart at steinwart@aol.com. Men's Class (Church Library) - Is This the End? This is a 10 lesson study by Dr. David Jeremiah. Signs of God s providence in a disturbing new world. Led by Kevin Cuyler. 2. Adult Class (School Wing) - "24 Hours that Changed the World" A study designed for the Lenten season, Adam Hamilton unpacks Jesus' last days on earth and how they turn upside down the conventional ideas about good and evil, justice and history, life and death. Filmed on location in the Holy Land, it portrays the Last Supper to Christ's victory over the grave. Please plan on joining us. This study promises to make you think about Jesus' final days in a new and different way. This study is led by Jan Hoffman. Wayside Cross Ministry for March Thank you for all of the cold and flu meds you donated to the men in the Master's Touch Ministry at Wayside in February. Hopefully, the flu season is receding but the men always need these medications. They are very thankful to all of you. The donations also included toothpaste and arthritis rubs which will be very helpful to them. In March, we will be collecting men s deodorant. Please place your donations in the LWML box located outside the church secretary's office. Thank you for always responding to our need for help for these grateful men. We appreciate all that you do for them. Thank you St. Luke's. Ray and I would like to thank members and Pastor for prayers and cards during our recovery. Thelma Weeks The Altar flowers for this weekend are given by Angie Daniels in memory of her mother, Neva Butcher. OWLS April Luncheon The OWLS March luncheon will be Thursday, April 12 at Noon. We will meet and eat at 9er s Grill on Rt. 30 in Montgomery (in front of Farm & Fleet). OWLS (Older Wiser Loving Seniors) is fellowship for all people ages 60 + or younger if you want to! Good Friday Prayer Vigil Please come seek the Lord's will in our lives by attending the annual Good Friday Prayer Vigil on March 30. The doors will be open and you can come pray anytime between the hours of 6:00-11:00 am (breaking for the noon worship service) and then again between 1:00 and 6:00 pm. The evening church service begins at 7:00 pm. There will be some prayer starter materials for those who would like to use them as well as some prayer request forms to pray over others' requests. You may fill in a new prayer form if you would like to add your own requests, whether they be for you personally or for other's who have given you permission to make their requests known that day. We encourage you to attend during these times, but if you are unable, please stop and remember the sacrifice Jesus gave for us and thank him for loving us enough to bear our burdens and walk with us even during the darkest times in our lives. Your St. Luke's Prayer Ministry team would be happy to take any requests that you would like us to pray over. St. Luke s Christian Academy is seeking substitute teachers for preschool through 8th grade. Qualified applicants must have a bachelor s degree. For more information pertaining to qualifications and salary, contact the school office at x-2. Principal King s Weekly Academy Update Our Academy students are out for Spring/Easter break. Hence, the Easter wishes in our weekly letter. It has been a very active March. This past week, we had an Open House for next year s enrollment, parent/teachers conferences, and report cards were sent out. We look forward to April with the eighth grade banquet. The big event in April (28) is our annual dinner/dance/auction called A Night to Remember. This is a very important fundraiser. Please get your tickets early and bring friends. It will be a very fun night. Tickets are only available until April 14. Thank you to the many people that so generously gave of their time, talents, and finances to make this possible. New Member Class Now Registering Have you ever thought why it matters to become a member of a congregation? I matter to Jesus: I will spend a lifetime of worshiping Him and will only scratch the surface of such love as His. I need God's people: Jesus places people in my life to help me mature as a disciple in order to become more like Christ People need me: I can't ever look at my church life as something that is all about me. My membership matters to people that Jesus sends to me. If you want to be a member, a new member class will be held on Saturday, April 21 from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. This class is for adults only and is mandatory to become a member. A continental breakfast and a light lunch will be served. St. Luke s Christian Academy Annual Auction/Dinner Fundraiser St. Luke s Christian Academy s PALS group is hosting it s 2nd Annual Auction/Dinner fundraiser on Saturday, May 5 from 6-11 p.m. at Whitetail Ridge Golf Club in Yorkville. The theme is A Night to Remember. There will be hors d oeuvres, a sit down dinner, dessert and open bar. There will also be a DJ and silent auction. Tickets are $75 per person. This is an adult s only night to have fun and support our school! Babysitting will be available at the school for $10 for one child, $15 for two. Last year you helped us raise over $8000 for the school! Everyone who attended the fundraiser last year had such a great time they asked us to do it again! You don t want to miss this event! Make your reservations NOW! Reservation and payment is due no later than April 14! Tickets will not be available after April 14 and will not be available at the door. Contact Tami McGraw in the school office at , x-110. NEW Cards at the Greeting Card Center! Check out LWML s Greeting Card Center in the Gathering area. It has just been restocked with new cards for Easter, Thinking of You, Get well (including get well for children), Anniversary, and Wedding. Cards are still only 50 cents each and most have a scripture verse! Money from card sales is used to support LWML mission projects. Lawn Maintenance Ministry We are in need of a lawn maintenance coordinator. There are a few members who take turns mowing and caring for our lawn, so you wouldn t be on your own. You get to work outside and you get to drive the big tractor!! Spring is fast approaching and we need to fill this volunteer ministry position as soon as possible.
