3 Scripture Reading- Jon Speaker- Anders Svensson Sermon Summary: Teach us Your Ways - Anders Svennson - We make many decisions, big and small, easy and hard - We have to do this amidst the uncertainty in the world - Where do we get our guidance from, our lessons and mentors? - How does God teach us? - Psalm 25: Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day. Good and upright is the LORD; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way. The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way. (Psalms 25:4-5, 8-9 NKJV) - God is a teaching God - Micah 4:2 Many nations shall come and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths. For out of Zion the law shall go forth, And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. (Micah 4:2 NKJV) - Matthew 11:29-30 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. (Matthew 11:29-30 NKJV) - Deuteronomy 8:2-3 And you shall remember that the LORD your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD. (Deuteronomy 8:2-3 NKJV)

4 God teaches us in our very day life, in our experiences Allowed them to hunger and thirst so they would turn to Him and be filled Sometimes God will teach us spiritual truths through every day means - Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. (Philippians 4:11-12 NKJV) - Lessons in 1&2 Chronicles Prayer praise Priorities Encouragement Reliance Perseverance Planning Faithfulness Humility Listening and obeying - The Wilderness Some of the greatest characters in the Bible went through wilderness experienced Elijah, David, Moses, Jesus... Sometimes we might go through a wilderness experience - Uncertainty / can't see past the horizon - Could be temptation Maybe God is teaching you to pray more, and rely on Him more, and teaching patience - God teaches us through trial -> they are for our training James 2 - My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. (James 1:2-3 NKJV) Trials are a blessing in disguise Smooth seas never make a trained sailor Trials strengthen us. God wants us to be strong Christians relying on Him more - 1 Corinthians 10 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. (I Corinthians 10:1-6 NKJV)

5 - Romans 15:4 - What is our part to play? 1. Need to fear The Lord - Who is the man that fears the LORD? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses. (Psalms 25:12 NKJV) - We need to be in reverence of The Lord and know His ways are higher than our ways - Trust Him - For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9 NKJV) - Some times we don't know what is going on, but He does. - Trust and be in awe of Him - When you go through a trial, don't get angry at God, ask Him what He is teaching you 2. Need to be humble - The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way. (Psalms 25:9 NKJV) - His Ways "Ways" is a word that is reoccurring in Psalm 25 Ways is said many times in the Old Testament. Ways = Law 1 Kings 3:14 - So if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days. (I Kings 3:14 NKJV) Ways = Journey of Life 2 Chronicles? [x] Jesus is the Way - I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (Galatians 2:20 NKJV) 3. Follow Jesus

Baptism On Sabbath afternoon September 6th there has been a baptism planned ADRA Blacktown Food Drive There will continue to be a plastic container placed at the top of the stairs at church labelled "ADRA Blacktown Food Drive". Many people have little knowledge and skill in cooking with fresh vegetables so please provide canned and packaged food. Once a month the food will be collected. Any small items for children like toys and DVD's would also be helpful if you would like to share. There isn t any space for large or heavy items. Thank you everyone for your contributions and support.

10 PATHFINDERS This is just a reminder that teen force applications for the 2015 'I-THIRST' Camporee need to be sent in by this Sunday, 24th August, as they will need to be sent off to the SPD on Monday morning (at latest) Any applications that are sent after this date will not be accepted. Please make sure to provide all the necessary details as listed on the form. Teen Force 2015 is a team of 106 volunteer older teenage Pathfinders and Ambassadors, aged years, currently in a Pathfinder Club. Teen Force 2015 volunteers will serve as a special team assisting camporee staff in the running of the camporee. It is a great opportunity for the older Pathfinders in your clubs to get involved in the organisation of the Camporee. Applications close this Sunday 24 August Teen Force delivering the vision 2015 Fully engage with their own club outside Teen Force 2015 rostered activity hours Be nominated by the Club Director. Down load and print the Teen Force application form from SPD Camporee Site: OVERVIEW Teen Force 2015 is a team of 106 volunteer older teenage Pathfinders and Ambassadors, aged years, currently in a Pathfinder Club. Teen Force 2015 volunteers will serve as a special team assisting camporee staff in the running of the camporee. Roles will include: Greeting clubs when they arrive at the camporee Assist activity leaders Create memory theme events Assist in Temple Worships and Sabbath services Provide special dynamics at evening programs Teen Force 2015 volunteers will deliver the dream of a cheery, helpful and inspiring face for the camporee as they develop their leadership potential. Selection Criteria We will need high quality, multi-skilled young people with leadership potential and pleasant, out-going personalities. Club Directors will need to select nominees carefully. Allocated numbers of Teen Force 2015 volunteers from each Conference/Mission have been determined. (Attachment) Nomination and Selection Process Nominees need to be able to engage in each step: Complete Pathfinder Individual Application Form and pay Camporee Fee (To be sent in with Club Application Form via Club Pathfinder Director). Register with their Club and live with their club during the camporee Be available each evening and for a morning OR afternoon roster cation.pdf Complete Teen Force 2015 application form, including photo. The Club Director collects the Teen Force application from the Teen Club Director completes Part1 of the Pathfinder Leadership Endorsement form and attaches this to the Teen s Application. Then forwards the forms to the Conference/Mission Youth Director Conference/Mission Youth Directors to sign and add any comments, then forward the forms to the Division Camporee Teen Force 2015 Coordinator at the SPD. Training Undertake Teen Force 2015 staff on-site training Attend Teen Force 2015 volunteer compulsory orientation session. Support During the Camporee Teen Force 2015 volunteers will receive mentoring by the Teen Force 2015 staff (Directors: Alan Bates and Rachelle Chapman) Uniform provided cap and tee shirt Pocket Guide booklet outlining roles and responsibilities Staff ID provided Team meetings On-site service activities ordination & support Rostered activities Recognition

12 Poem- The Clockwork Machine! Written by Michael Dignam The sticky patterns of life The thick glue of routine Monotonous grooves In a clockwork machine Churning the souls As they meander the streets Reliant on coffee And small pastry treats. The swooping crow of the city Hit s them dead in the eyes Dives into their heart To defile their lives. The billboards and screens The songs and the news To their own foolish ignorance Dealing a deep nasty bruise. They laugh and they jest When at lunchtime they meet But to the soul that is hungry Everything bitter is sweet. I was caught in this thing Called life in the world That promised me riches Diamonds and pearls. But my dear precious joy As the chains of fear tightened Like a mirage in the desert Slipped beyond the horizon. I shouted for help Giving up my great pride I knew I was beaten By my selfish inside. Alas high on the hill I then saw Him, the One Hanging up for the world And all the wrong we had done. At my heart He was knocking He wanted into my life I swung open the door Begged an end to the strife. Tears rolled down my cheeks Like dew drops on leaves I was touched deep within An eruption of peace. It bubbled within me And continued to rise Upward and upward To the internal skies. Amassed high in the clouds An indescribable love From my Saviour then poured Till I was deep in a flood. My dear precious joy Ran straight home to me I embraced her with gladness No more chains. I was free. I looked up to the left And looked down to the right Who could I trust Amidst the world and its plight? So I ran and I ran Gasping deeply for air Trying so hard to escape This machine of despair. But no matter how hard I tried Attempted and strived I became more ensnared In it's thick web of lies.
