Through the work of God s Spirit, unity is a binding force. At the same time, unity must also be earnestly pursued and sought. We must be continually built up to attain this unity. Our unity must become visible to the world. Separation and hatred between people and groups is sin, already conquered by Christ. Anything threatening our unity has no place in the church. 5 The Children s Connection Page 5 NURSERY CARE is available for children birth 5 years old during Worship through Sunday School. (9:15am -12:15pm) Please register your children to ensure the best care for them. CHILDREN'S BULLETINS and WORSHIP BAGS with activities are available on the Children s table in the Dickson foyer. At home go to games.childrensbulletins.com and enter the secret code for the week to unlock games related to this weeks Scripture readings. Ages 3-6 is JZEYZ3 & 7-12 is JZEYZ3. TIME FOR CHILDREN during worship provides a way for children to become more involved in the service. All children are invited and encouraged to come forward at this time or they can remain seated with their families. Sunday School Classes for Elementary age children will meet in Classroom #2. Middle & High School age will meet in the Community Building. Adult Seminar I meets in Classroom #3 and is studying Eager to Love by Richard Rohr. Don Eitzman is the discussion leader. Adult Seminar II meets in the Christian Education Office. This is an interactive opportunity open to anyone who wants to extend their understanding of the scripture and sermon in today's worship service. Paul Carter is the discussion leader. 6 Page 6 Westminster s Weekly Newsletter TODAY AT WESTMINSTER Out of Chaos, HOPE. Today, Sunday, 10/23, we will be have a special offering for the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA). Please continue to pray for all affected by Hurricane Matthew, and especially our sisters and brothers who have experience the greatest devastation in our presbytery, in other states, and especially in the Caribbean. The needs for the response are great. God s people are once again called on to stand in the GAP Give. Act. Pray. Join Us each Tuesday, at 10:30 am Choir Practice each Wednesday 6:00 pm-7:30 Pastor s Coffee Hour: each Thursday from 9-11am at the Coffee Culture (2020 NW 13th St). Stop by and spend some time chatting about anything you d like. No appointment is necessary, just stop by and get a cup of coffee. Everyone Welcome! The Thursday Night Koinonia Group will meet on Thursday Oct. 27th at 6:00pm in the Foyer. The Men of the Church will meet on Saturday, October 29th from 8:30am 9:30am for breakfast, Bible study and fellowship. Eggs and bacon will be provided. 7 Page 7 Advanced Directives I am pretty healthy, why would I need an Advanced Directive now? Is a Living Will the same as my Will? Did you know that you can indicate more than just one or two things you want or don t want in an Advanced Directive? How does the role of my Health Care Surrogate interact with my Advanced Directives? What is the difference between Advanced Directives and a Do No Resuscitate Order in Florida? How do I make sure Advanced Directives are respected for me or may loved one? Who should have copies of my Advanced Directives and Health Care Surrogate paperwork? Come by the information table in the Dickson Foyer during coffee/fellowship time between worship services or 11:00 11:45 am, October 23 rd and 30 th. Meet some of Alachua County s pioneers and prominent citizens who were laid to rest in this historic cemetery, founded in the late 1850s! Self-guided tour. FREE! Donations appreciated. All proceeds will benefit the preservation and maintenance of the cemetery. The mission of The Preserve is to provide a safe home like setting for young men ages with resources needed to develop the skills necessary for independent living. If you are ill or aware of someone else that is ill, please contact the church office or the Congregational Care Committee (CCC) representative for the month. In the absence of a Parish Nurse, the CCC members will handle the following parish nurse responsibilities for a short term need following surgery, traumatic event or birth: resource for transportation to medical appointments when feasible and appropriate, medical equipment loan outs, provision of meals, and general emotional support.
