Welcome! We re glad you re here today. We re a group of people learning what it means to be followers of Jesus. This is a place where everyone is welcome, nobody s perfect, and anything is possible. We welcome and encourage you to share your life with us as we journey in faith together. What can you expect on a Sunday morning? Our worship services aim to be about 70 minutes long, with a mix of praise singing & prayer, and a time of inspiration and learning through the teaching that explores scripture, and issues of everyday life. We believe that by working together, sharing our faith and our lives, we can accomplish much more than we could individually. With God s help and the power of the Holy Spirit, we believe we can transform our community and our world as the hands and feet of Jesus on earth. Updates to the Chancel: Today you will notice that the communion table has been removed. This is a first step in a renovation that will include the replacement of some tiles on the chancel where the table has been. A new table is being designed by a local company that specializes in custom cabinetry. While of similar size, the new table will be portable thus providing increased flexibility on how the space can be used. Another smaller table is also being designed which will serve the dual purpose of holding communion elements on the lower level and the signing of the register at weddings. In addition, the same company will be refinishing and repurposing a baptismal font that was originally used in Trinity United Church. All of this work is being completed through a generous donation from a longstanding church family. If you re ready for us to get to know you, please fill out a Welcome card from the pew and bring it to the Connection Point in the foyer after the service. We hope you too will find a place of belonging here, and share your life and faith journey with us.

SEARCH TEAM UPDATE Wellington Orphanage Outreach team needs your help! We are looking for people willing to volunteer with us on Monday Feb, 25 th from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Sew on Fire, a registered Canadian Charity in Burlington, that is 100% volunteer based. Sew on Fire has assisted us in the past by providing back packs and pencil cases full of supplies for the children of Wellington Orphanage, as well as clothing, hygiene products and bedding. In return, we have committed to helping them sort and pack items at their warehouse, to be distributed by other charities, teams or mission trips overseas and within Canada to people in need. No experience necessary. Someone from Sew on Fire will tell us what they need us to do during our time there. Please consider joining us for an evening of fun, fellowship and meaningful service. For further information, please contact Wendy Clifton at: cliftonwendy1@hotmail.ca or The Search Team for our Ministry vacancy would like to give everyone an update on our progress. We have had a very busy and productive first few meetings. In addition to completing the orientation and training for the Team, we have already published the job posting that will lead us to recruiting and calling the best candidate who will be an ideal fit to fill our Ministry vacancy! The posting is open for candidates to submit applications until Friday, March 15 th, so between now and then we will be focusing upon developing the discernment process we will use when reviewing the applications, drafting up the interview questions and determining the flow and structure of the interviews we will be conducting. So how can everyone help? First and foremost, please keep us in your prayers to faithfully trust in God s plan for our Church and that we will be filled with the Holy Spirit as we move through this call process. We would also like to invite you to share the job posting and JNAC report (both are posted on the WS website under Contact us/employment Opportunities ) with anyone you think might be interested in our Ministry vacancy. You can also send any questions/concerns you may have to us at wsqsearch19@gmail.com or through the mailbox in the church office labeled Search Committee.

We would like to get to know you We invite you to fill out a Welcome Card which is in the pews. Please leave it in the box marked Connect/Reconnect at the exits at the front and back of the Sanctuary or at the Connection Point table. As a THANK-YOU for taking the time to fill out the card, please accept a copy of CASE FOR CHRIST. If you need assistance, please feel free to ask one of our greeters. Communion Sundays: Mar 10th; Apr 7th ONE 10am: March 3rd (AGM) Annual Report is available on on Sunday. There are also some copies in the pamphlet rack in the foyer. Fellowship Lunch Please join us today, Sunday, February 24th, after the 11am service. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the door. From the Board The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held following the Sunday March 3, 2019 service which starts at 10:00am that morning. The AGM will include an update from our Search Team who are in the process of finding a new Lead Minister for Wellington Square. A Lenten Pancake luncheon will follow the worship service as well as a 2nd sitting following the AGM in support of Canadian Foodgrains Bank. So come Worship, Be Informed and Enjoy a Meal. Church Membership Matters: Why? It s impossible to grow to spiritual maturity by yourself. The church provides us with a place to love and nurture others and represent the active presence of Christ s Kingdom in the world. It s our way of committing to the work God is doing in us and through us as a community of believers. Nothing compares to a group of believers who love one another, pray for one another and serve God together to reach their neighbours and the nations. New Members New Members will be received on Sunday, March 17th. Please let us know by contacting the church office, or sign up at the Connection Point today. Stand-alone Electric Grills Needed for the Lenten Pancake Lunch on Sunday March 3rd. Please contact the church office if you have one that we can borrow. Thank you. 9am Music Tim is looking for new members of the 9:00 AM team. We need folks interested in singing, playing an instrument, sound, PowerPoint or helping pick songs. We are happy to teach people who lack the skill but have a heart for the ministry. This is a great way to develop a skill, participate in worship, and serve the congregation on Sunday mornings. Send Tim an at twatson@wsquare.ca if you are interested or have any questions.

Board Nominee Bio - Ben Petrie Michelle and I have attended Wellington Square since about 2006 shortly after we moved to Burlington. Since that time our family has grown to include three sons, Luke, Sam and Owen each of whom are in Graceland most Sundays. Over the years at Wellington Square I have been a part of the Stewardship Team, Graceland and a Wednesday morning Men's group. I grew up in the United Church going to Alderwood United where my parents continue to attend. I also spent several summers at Pioneer Camp as both a camper and a staff member. I am excited at the prospect of joining the board and doing what I can to contribute.

Friday Community The Crimson Cord By: Jill Eileen Smith Like Jill Eileen Smith s other books of Biblical women like THE WIVES OF KING DAVID and THE WIVES OF THE PATRIARCHS, this book is from Daughters of the Promised land. It tells the story of RAHAB, the beautiful, young, Canaanite wife forced into prostitution to pay off her husband s gambling debts while he is sold into slavery. God has told Joshua that all this land and it s cities including JERICHO will be given to the tribes of Israel and that all the inhabitants should be put to death; but RAHAB had protected the Israeli spies and helped them escape. In return she was promised protection with her family for her bravery. Follow her as she learns about this powerful God of the Israelites and decides to follow HIM. But she has been betrayed over and over by men: her husband, her lover, her prince,& her father. She has no desire to ever marry again. Yet, the Bible tells us that she will become the mother of BOAZ who will be the great, great grandfather of KING DAVID. How is it that this God would choose a hated prostitute from a foreign nation to be of the lineage of Jesus Christ? This past Friday one of our teen girls came in the door and shared with excitement that it was a special day. We asked her why and she told us that it was 6 years ago to the day, February 15, that she and her mom came in the doors of Friday Night Community for the first time. Shannon vividly remembers that she had just turned 8 years old. She often shares how the friendships, support, fun and opportunity to attend summer family camp have changed her life. We continue to need washed yogurt and sour cream type containers that are the thicker plastic. We can also use the heavier black take home containers including those from Swiss Chalet. We are not able to use thinner, clear plastic, ice cream tubs or the various sizes of margarine containers as they are too difficult to match with the varying lids. Thank you. Most needed items: *juice crystals, hot chocolate mix *salad dressing and salad bar toppings *maternity clothes size *decaf coffee *gently used/newer running shoes for men/ women/children *casual shoes sizes 8-12 for men/women *steel toed boots size 10 wide *diapers size 4-6, pull-ups size 4-6 *electric blanket *large stock pot for soup *curtain rods *gently used washing machine For info contact: llunski@wsquare.ca
