1 wellington square December 4, 2016 The Serenity Prayer God, give me grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, Courage to change the things which should be changed, and the Wisdom to distinguish the one from the other. Living one day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time, Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, Taking, as Jesus did, This sinful world as it is, Not as I would have it, Trusting that You will make all things right, If I surrender to Your will, So that I may be reasonably happy in this life, And supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen. Peace Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. --John 14:27 Jesus said to them again, Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you. --John 20:21

5 Footsteps Library The Hope of Christmas by Jack Countryman Recapture the wonder of the Christmas story and marvel at the gift of Jesus a gift of sacrifice and love, of Immanuel, God with us. This unique Christmas book contains Scripture verses followed by brief writings that explore God s prophecies, fulfillments, and promises relating to Jesus Christ and Christmas. Get in the Christmas spirit as you meditate on the Old Testament promises of the Messiah, the fulfillment of Jesus birth in the New Testament, Jesus life and resurrection, and our salvation and hope of eternal life. Friday Community A smile can mean many things. It may be a way to greet a friend or even someone that we have never met before. A smile can communicate to someone that we care about them or that they make us happy. When we come to share a meal on Friday evening, a friendly smile can mean the world to someone. Some folks come with heavy burdens and challenges and a friendly smile can have a bigger impact than we might ever know. As we approach the Christmas season we are collecting candy canes, Christmas candy and treats for Santa to give out at our big holiday dinner. Please spread the word to your families, friends and workplaces to save their unopened boxes of chocolates, cookies and candies left from holiday parties for our New Year's celebration dinner on Dec. 30th. We will have our usual holiday raffle, and every friend will go home with a gift. Please drop them by the church before the 30th. "Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing." ~Mother Teresa Most needed items: *snacks for children's lunches (fruit cups, pudding, cookies & crackers, apple sauce...) *double bed (frame, mattress & bedding) *medium & large storage bins with lids *winter coats/snow pants (clean please) *all sizes of gently used winter boots *men s long underwear *salad bar toppings For information contact: fnc@wsquare.ca

Also, there is a survey for young people and their families to complete that will help us develop our schedule for the New Year. Look for it in your , on our website, in the Facebook groups, or ask me for a copy. If you have questions, or would just like to connect, please contact me. I d love to hear from you! 7 Outreach Christmas Joy Donations Visit us in St. Paul s Hall to pick up your flowers and for our last Sunday of Christmas Joy donations. Your support is much appreciated both in Burlington and around the globe. Thank you for enabling our teams to continue their outstanding work in so many diverse initiatives. Angel Wings We are still in need of cash donations to purchase food certificates and to support families referred by our Ministry Team so any help you can make would be appreciated. Thank you for your generous support of the Angel Wings. If you have any questions please contact Chris Carver (905) More Good News from Malawi Mission 2016 Update: We were so honoured to be able to share with you all a couple of weeks ago. It was an excellent opportunity for the congregation to hear about Malawi and it also reinvigorated the team to continue with this exciting work! It can be difficult to see how a short term visit can effect change; a simple analogy we found was connecting the dots. We met Pastor Kumana who had built stone ovens for his widows group, to provide both food and income generation. Three days later we heard from Rodrick at Prison Fellowship that their Deli needed a way to bake without electricity. We connected them to each other, and just received an update from our team member Alex who is still there; The oven at the deli is finished and the first test was conducted yesterday. It works! Just as well as any electric oven. I must tell you how important this construction is, because the power situation has become much, much worse. We sometimes go almost 40 hours with no power. When we do it only lasts 3-4 hours and is gone again. And it almost never happens in the morning, so baking has become impossible. But all that is about to change. Gathering materials for and supervising construction of the oven took a lot of our time, but it was worth it. Every dot makes a difference! Remember that after the service, you can contribute to the Bimbi irrigation project through Christmas Joy. Follow us on
