4 Premise Religious education in Italy In Italy public schools have to offer Catholic Religious lessons in Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary schools; This has been regulated in the Agreement between Miur (Italian Ministery of Education and Research)and Cei (Italian Episcopal Conference) of 14/12/1985 and Revision 13/06/1990; Opt out regulations;
5 Reasons In the nineties steady growth of percentage of foreign students; Need to develop a project to include children who belong to different faiths; To meet and learn about different cultures and religious faiths; To compare and share values; School is the best place for the knowledge and practice of civil and peaceful coexistence.
6 Purposes Acquire fundamental information on Jewish, Christian and Muslim religions in the last three years of Primary schools age Promote growth and mutual understanding, respect for values and encourage dialogue. To help students of different faiths feel part of our community.
7 Methodology Interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary; Hands on activities; Children focused; Times Lessons of two hours weekly for a total of circa 26 hours in a semester;
