Some resources may be used for direct instruction with the students. Others may provide background information for the catechist. Still others might be used for parent correspondence: Consider sending a link to an online video which explains at an adult level what students are learning in their formation sessions or an activity that can be done at home to reinforce what was learned in class. Resources will be updated throughout the year, but if you wish to have the most recently updated listing or need assistance with additional media resources, please contact the Education Resource Center. Adaptive Finding God Learning Tools: Catholic Faith Picture Cards - God's Creation Catholic Faith Picture Cards illustrate core catechetical concepts. God's Creation Cards include twelve 5.5" square cards with a photograph on the front and text on the reverse side to describe a gift of God's creation. Although the Adaptive Finding God program was designed to be used for children with autism and special needs to assist in adapting the grade level session in conjunction with the Finding God program, this resource can be used in many programs and settings with any student who benefits from multi-sensory learning. Adaptive Finding God Learning Tools: Flip Book - I Am A Disciple: What It Means To Be Catholic Flip Books allow students to flip through the spiral-bound sturdy pages of simple pictures and text to better understand basic prayers and concepts. I Am a Disciple reinforces basic Catholic beliefs and practices and explains how Catholics can live as disciples. It provides a good review of important Catholic concepts. Although the Adaptive Finding God program was designed to be used for children with autism and special needs to assist in adapting the grade level session in conjunction with the Finding God program, this resource can be used in many programs and settings with any student who benefits from multi-sensory learning. (Available in Spanish from Loyola Press) Adaptive Finding God Learning Tools: Foam Puzzle - I Believe In Foam Puzzles help teach concepts through visual and kinesthetic learning. Concepts are simplified and pictured on foam puzzle pieces that fit into a foam puzzle board. The puzzle board displays both graphic and text for each concept puzzle piece. Learners can easily match and fit the pieces into the board. I Believe In displays graphics and text for God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit, The Holy Catholic Church, and The Communion of Saints. It can be used to assist in adapting the grade level session in conjunction with the Finding God program. It also includes a stand-alone program for parishes, schools, and homes for individuals or groups. The program utilizes a number of hands-on learning tools (also available from the Education Resource Center). Apostles' Creed, The PO I, J, S, YA, A 1999 Rose Publishing, Inc. The Apostles' Creed was written by early church leaders as a brief summary of what the Bible teaches about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, sin, and forgiveness, and our eternal future. Reproducible handouts on the back of the wall chart show Bible references for each statement of the creed. Catechist Companion: Ready-To-Use Lesson Plans Creed, Sacraments, Commandments, And Saints Peterfy, SDSH, Sr. Ida EC, P, I 226 pp Liturgy Training Publications From the authors of Sacred Heart Kids' Club video catechesis, the Catechist Companion is a series of detailed lesson plans that complement any religious education textbook. It is written with elementary school students in mind, but its concepts are easily adaptable for use with any age. It uses a five-step (Attracting Attention, Illustrated Explanation, Correlation with Life, Weekly Practice, Summary and Conclusion) method. Each lesson uses a series of simple illustrations and scripted explanations to teach complex theological and scriptural concepts with ease. Included are forty-nine lessons within the topics of Creed, Sacraments, Commandments, Saints, and the Heart of Catechesis. Catechist's Magic Kit, The: Eighty Simple Tricks For Teaching Catholicism To Kids Stagnaro, Angelo I, J, S, YA, A 288 pp Crossroad Publishing Company Simple magic tricks for teaching spiritual truths to children are explained in precise detail in this book. The content follows the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Each trick is fully explicated by text and sequential illustrations. Magic tips for better performance are interspersed among the tricks, which are done with inexpensive household items such as cards, rope, tape and utensils. All aspects are clearly addressed, including what equipment is needed, what the audience sees, how to perform the trick effectively, and which bible verses to discuss with each trick. The strongest element of this book is the explanation of the theology and spiritual truths that underlie each trick in a simple and inspiring way. As the primary statements of the Creed are explained and supported by Scripture quotes, youth are encouraged and motivated to not to simply say the Creed, but to pray it, live it, and love it. Florida Center For Peace: Friends Of Jesus And Mary - Activities To Know God OA P, I 2015 Florida Center for Peace This page offers dozens of reproducible sheets to help you get to know God better. Included are coloring sheets, instructional activities, crafts and projects, stories and games, and more. Provided are sheets on the Trinity, God the Father (including sheets on the Commandments), God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, the Church (including the liturgical year, works of mercy, and more), and Prayers (Lord's Prayer, Hail Mary, Apostle's Creed, and more). Many sheets are bilingual. Know Your Catholic Faith Concept Cards: Set I And II - (Selected Cards) Deckelman, Carolyn M Miller Educational Resources, Inc. These 4" by 6" laminated cards have a visual representation on one side. On the reverse side are an identifying word, a definition/description of that word, and additional information for digging deeper. The cards can be used as flash cards to drill and review vocabulary and definitions. They can be distributed among students who would then research their word or topic, or students could be asked to categorize the cards around specific topics. Length varies depending on the time spent on each screen for reading, reflecting, and possibly sharing. Estimated average time would be five to fifteen minutes. It shows that the disciples' prayer inspired the evangelization which led to many baptisms and the beginning of the Church where members joined in the breaking of the Bread and loved one another.
