May you find comfort, joy, strength and peace as you worship the Loving and Living Lord with us today. First Christian truly seeks to be a place of welcome to all! Children are welcome in worship! For those who desire childcare during worship, nursery care is available next door for infants through 4 year olds. Older children can be at the activity table at the back with Deb and Anna. Communion: As members of The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) we practice open communion. All believers are invited to partake. The emblems will be passed through the rows by the deacons. Please partake of the gluten free bread and grape juice as it is passed. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in, they did not find the body. While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them. The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again. 7 Announcements & Things of Interest Outreach Opportunities: Feed My Starving Children we will be packing food on April 29 from 11:30-1:30 at the Chanhassen location. If you have been watching the news, you know that right now in Africa there are more people experiencing famine at any time since the United Nations was formed in The UN cannot feed everyone; FMSC has upped their shipments and needs help packing. Check with Pastor Laurie about signing up online to reserve your spot with the group. Sheridan Story many spots are still open through the end of the school year for putting backpacks of food into lockers on Friday afternoons. This is at Whittier School; it takes less than an hour and feeds families over the weekend. Bags of Grace We have been out of these for a long time and with spring coming we need to make more. Plan to spend a few minutes after worship on April 30 to pack these most needed bags. Book Group: April's book choice is Rules of Civility by Amor Towles. All are invited to Sandy Morgan's house on April 24 at 7 pm for discussion of this work of fiction. From the SpringHouse Green Team: 1) Minnesota Water Action Day, April 19 th - this is a day of public action and advocacy to let lawmakers know we care about our water. There will be trainings in the morning, both on how to actively engage legislators and on the water issues that we face in Minnesota. Throughout the day there will be events and other ways to keep people engaged, and a rally will be held in the Capitol Rotunda at 1:30 pm. There also will be meetings with your representatives throughout the day. Come for all or part of the day. 2) March for Science, April 22 nd - a coalition of Minnesotans from all professions and all walks of life, various non-profits, labor unions, and religious groups are marching on the state capitol to show support of higher education and the discovery, access, and understanding of scientific information. The March will start at Cathedral Hill Park at 11 am, with a rally at the Minnesota State Capitol at 12 noon. Marchers are encouraged to wear blue and green. We re hoping to carpool from SpringHouse and march together as faith communities. If you re interested, please contact Green Team members Darla Baker at darlamaebaker@gmail.com or Elly Wagner at ellyrw@aol.com. 3) People s Climate Solidarity March MN, Saturday April 29 th - The People's Climate March is happening on April 29 th in Washington DC to challenge policies that pose a threat to our climate and our communities, and at the same time to forward a vision of a clean, safe world where the rights of all people are protected and expanded. For those unable to go to DC but interested in expressing solidarity, a Minnesota march will start at 2 pm at the Federal Building in downtown Minneapolis and rally through downtown.
