Help us to feel the power of this love within our lives and ministry. We offer our prayers in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. 2 4 People:(singing) Amen! Early on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb. She saw that the stone had been rolled away and the body of Jesus was not there. People: (singing) I come to the garden alone, (No 237) While the dew is still on the roses; And the voice I hear, falling on my ear, The Son of God discloses. People: (singing) Jesus said, go tell my brothers and my sisters that I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God! He speaks, and the sound of his voice Is so sweet the birds hush their singing; And the melody that he gave to me Within my heart is ringing. PENITENCE With heads bowed low, and with humble hearts still ringing with Jesus good news, let us pray for God s forgiving grace. All: As we gather together this Easter morning, we remember the times when we have walked our own path instead of Jesus path. Like Mary, we wonder aimlessly searching for Jesus. O God, open our eyes to your presence among us. Just as you rolled away the boulder in front of Jesus tomb, clear away our sins and failures so that we may walk each day with Jesus and find your everlasting peace. (Silence) After speaking with Jesus, Mary Magdalene went to tell the disciples the news, I have seen the Lord! People (singing) I d stay in the garden with him, Though the night around me be falling; But he bids me go; through the voice of woe His voice to me is calling. And he walks with me, and he talks with me, And he tells me I am his own, And the joy we share as we tarry there, None other has ever known. 5 Let us share again what it is that we believe. All: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. 4 All: All: 8 We remember the very first communion that you shared with your disciples. We think about the closeness that they knew and realize that you hold each of us just as tightly today. Thanks be to you for keeping close to each of us! The love that we have through Jesus Christ is stronger than anything that we can even imagine. It is filled with promise, hope, and peace and is given freely to all of us. Thanks be to you for the promise of your love! 9 On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts. As we forgive our debtors; And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory Forever and ever. Amen (Congregation May Be Seated) We offer you our praise and thanksgiving. As we eat and drink at your table on this special day, we pray that we may see the world through your eyes, and that we may know you are with us in the breaking of this bread. All: singing Christ is risen! Earth and heaven never more shall be the same. Break the bread of new creation where the world is still in pain. Tell its grim demonic chorus; Christ is risen! Get you gone! God the First and Last is with us. Sing Hosanna, everyone! Jesus gathered with the disciples in a quiet room, and they shared in a meal. As they ate, he took a loaf of bread, blessed it, broke it, and shared it with them, saying, This is my body. Do this and remember me Then Jesus took a cup, and, after giving thanks, shared it with them, saying, This is the cup of the new covenant, which is poured out for you. Do this and remember me. Great is the mystery of faith: All: Jesus has died, Jesus is risen, Jesus will come again. PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION LORD S PRAYER (singing) Our Father, Who art in the heavens, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come Thy will be done, In the breaking of the bread we are one with Jesus Christ Through the cup of blessing we share in the new life Christ pours out for the world. (Congregation Stands) PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING ALL: We give you thanks, dear Jesus, for the broken bread and the cup of blessing, the signs of your life given and poured out in love for us and for all humankind.
