1 This year our Scripture for the year is from Luke 1:37, Nothing is impossible for God. Over the next 11 months various people to write a little devotion for us to help us see that nothing is impossible for God. February s devotion was written by Lela Stowers. Nothing will be impossible with God or put another way, All will be possible with God. This verse does not say that everything we dream about and yearn for will be given to us. This verse gives us the opportunity to be bold knowing that God is with us. Luke 1:37 is one of the verses that gives me the foundation on which I live my life. It reminds me to remain positive as God is always walking with me as I journey through life. It gives me strength and confidence in difficult times when making decisions. This verse gives me guidance when life situations are taxing my patience and understanding, providing comfort in times of sorrow and tragedy. This verse reassures and reminds me that God believes in me and is watching over me giving the guidance, strength, and comfort as is needed on a day to day, minute to minute basis. My responsibility is to be open and listen to what God is saying to me.

3 Nothing is impossible with God. This verse stands out to me and is one that I relate to that is very similar to one that I held near and dear to my heart during my discernment time of making a full commitment to my call. The verse is Mark 10:27 Jesus looked at them carefully and said, It s impossible with human beings, but not with God. All things are possible for God. When I enrolled in seminary, I went home that evening and my family had so many questions and I have to admit as the night went on the fear of it all set in on me. I had my own questions running through my mind. How was I going to go to school and keep a full time job where I was still learning? How was I to be a mother and a wife and make time for homework? The questions were exploding in my mind minute by minute all night long. Needless to say I didn t get much sleep that night and as I walked into the church office the next morning my heart and mind were very heavy. I turned on the computer and the scripture for the day was Mark 10:27 Jesus looked at them carefully and said, It s impossible with human beings, but not with God. All things are possible for God. I truly knew at that moment that God would guide me and make this ALL possible. I am told sometimes that I live on the edge, I prefer to think I LOVE on the edge. I am so grateful that nothing is impossible with God. Living with this BELIEF and scripture in my heart daily strengthens and encourages me to continue on the journey of Kingdom work that is so very important. The Wesley at NSU is geared up and has jumped full swing into the new year and the new semester. We were blessed with the opportunity to serve 150 student volunteers at the MLK Day of service on the NSU campus. They served at area churches and schools including helping our own church with some clean up, after their busy morning they were greeted by some of the Wesley leadership team and were served soup and sandwiches. It was a true blessing to express our love to those who served so unconditionally. The Wesley is serving on average 250 students each Wednesday for lunch. They also have begun this semester with a morning study group where they can come and relax and have a bagel or some cereal and a cup of coffee. We have also started our table talk group and our Wednesday night worship. We are truly grateful and blessed for all the prayers, gifts, and support that the Tahlequah United Methodist Church gives to this campus ministry God Loves you and so do I. 4 Don't Forget To Swing Friday nights in the summer you may find me out on the softball fields in Tulsa playing pitcher for the University United Methodist Church s Raging Lambs Team. One of the things playing slow pitch softball has taught me is that the game is not fun unless you go up swinging the bat. Keeping the bat on the shoulder you have a chance to walk to first base or strike out. These are not fun. Fun happens when the batter swings the bat. I love the joy that people get when they know they are not a good hitter but they swing the bat anyway and get a hit. In our walk with God we are called to GO Make Disciples of Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:16-20 calls us to swing our bats no matter what our abilities are. Through our baptism all of us are called to GO and make disciples. You have what it takes. God has equipped you to help people on their journeys and all we have to do is try. Sometimes we will get a hit and sometimes we will miss and that is ok. We have to learn that when we have success and failure, we grow. So, don t be afraid to swing to grow in your faith and to grow those around you. rd th Special General Conference February in St. Louis, Mo. there will be a Special General Conference. This special session is called to focus on the issue of human sexuality and church unity with the goals of ending distracting and mission-compromising disagreement about how to be in ministry with LGBTQI people. The hope is that decisions made will allow the 2020 General Conference to focus on mission and the next steps for the church s unified global witness. I invite you to pray with me this month. Pray that we find unity, grace and love while our delegates gather to discuss this issue. To be honest I have no clue what will come from this. A lot of people have written and spoken their opinion about what they think will happen. I pray for God s help in this difficult conversation. I will be present for this event to pray with my brothers and sisters that have been elected to make this decision. These sessions will be streamed live at on the website. 5 Our Wednesday Kids Connect has started back for the New Year. Our program is growing and flourishing. We are grateful for all who have provided snacks for the children. We have had an overwhelming amount of support and the kids can feel the love from our church. This month the youth had a great start to the New Year. We will be meeting Wednesday's from 5:30 to 7:45 in the Activity Building. We will be moving our Sundays to 4:30 p.m. the Sunday after the Super bowl. The youth also meet Sunday mornings for Sunday School at 9:00am. Please continue to pray for our program and children who enter our church each Wednesday. We are excited as to what the next few months will hold for our children s ministry. We are starting the sign up for church camp. It costs $ We will leave Monday June 17 and return Friday June 21.
