2 2 November 11, 2017 Dear Beloved Parishioners, MESSAGE FROM THE PARISH PRIEST PEACE of Christ! We are now at the last quarter of the year Let us look back with gratitude, move forward with our goals checked, and hope for a bright future trusting in God s Grace. Gratitude I give thanks to God for His faithfulness and love. He is always with us. I am also grateful to the generosity of the parishioners and friends. Thank you for your time, talent and treasure that you wholeheartedly shared with the parish. Your regular celebration of masses, attendance to programs and support to projects are truly appreciated. I m truly inspired by the leaders and members of Organizations, Ministries and the Basic Ecclesial Communities who shared their time and resources for the good of the parish. Very close to my heart also are the parish staff and volunteers who work with integrity, humility, mission and productivity (ihmp). All of you are Mission Partners of the Claretian Missionaries. Your generosity and service will not go unrewarded. Goal Approaching the end of the year is the proper time to examine ourselves if we are heading towards our Christian goals of knowing, loving, serving, praising and following the Lord. How are we in our journey as a parish and as individual Christians? How much have we really grown in our knowledge of God especially through the Scriptures? How have we put into practice Jesus command to love God and neighbors including our environment? Was our year spent serving God especially through those in need or were we buried in our self-absorption? How have we offered our life to God together with the sacrifice of Christ in the Eucharist? Let us look ahead and see whom we are following? Is it the Lord Jesus? Let us evaluate how we are fulfilling our Christian goals. Grace of God As we look back, let us become more aware of the gracious and abiding presence of God. Truly God s grace is enough. In Him we live and move and have our being. Therefore, we look forward full of hope that in His time, God s Plan be fulfilled. Let us then, face the future with much confidence that all shall be well by the Grace of God. As we enter the New Year, let the 3 Gs guide us: GRATITUDE, GOALS AND GRACE. Advanced Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year! Project PARC n PRAY update PROJECT PARC n PRAY has 2 major goals namely, the repair of the church parking area and installation of an air conditioning system in the church and other function rooms. The fundraising campaign was launched last April 2017 during the Fiesta Kick-off Mass. As of November 16, 2017, love offering received was Php3,196, from 367 individual Mission Partners. That is only 16% of the target amount of Php20 Million needed for the project. The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) hopes that during this Advent and Christmas Seasons, we will achieve our goals. The PPC and Fr. Lito Ancla, our parish priest, would therefore like to appeal to all the parishioners for their support. This project will surely go a long way in attracting more people to come to our church to pray and hear mass. Claret School Celebrates its 50th Golden Foundation THE Claret School of Quezon City celebrated last October 24 its 50th Founding Anniversary. It was also the Feast Day of St. Anthony Mary Claret. It was a week-long celebration highlighted by the Alumni Gathering, field demonstrations and most especially the blessing and opening of the new Claret Gymnasium and Claret Football Field. The football field is carpeted with a one-of-a-kind artificial grass and is said to be the first in the Philippines. Respectfully, Fr. Lito Ancla, CMF

3 3 Renewal and Installation of IHMP LECOM by Loida Flores LAST October 15, 2017, 54 Senior and 34 junior members of the IHMP Lectors & Commentators were commissioned by our Parish Priest, Rev Fr. Angelito Ancla, CMF, during the 9 AM Mass. There was no available choir so the LeCom Chorale was born (in an instant!) composed of talented singers who didn t have any practice but the music they produced in leading the people through songs was just amazingly beautiful. Before the commissioning, 47 members underwent a Renewal Seminar at the Cubao Diocese in September 2017 and 12 new members attended the Basic Orientation Seminar at the Cubao Diocese last August 12, In celebration of the Christmas season, LeCom will hold an early Christmas party on November 26, instead of the regular 4th Sunday monthly meeting. Aside from the fellowship, games and raffle, an exciting contest called LeCom Got Talent was launched where 7 participants will compete for the first, second and third prizes! Good luck to all our participants! EHMC Renewal Seminar and Commissioning Ceremony by Joseph Vergara LAST October 7, 2017, the IHMP-EMHC (Extra-ordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion), attended their yearly renewal at the Diocese of Cubao with Fr. Victor William Garcia, a liturgist of Cubao Diocese, as their resource speaker. There were 42 EMHC who were able to renew their commitment to assist our Claretian priests in distributing Holy Communion in the church and in the homes of the sick and the elderly. 5, You...Forever in our Hearts by Rizha Tantoco THE Parish Age of Legacy Ministry (PALM) celebrated its 5th year anniversary last July 29, 2017 with a mass and simple salu-salo among its core group members. In line with its anniversary celebration, a gathering of the elderly entitled 5, You...Forever in our Hearts, was also held last August 18, It was attended by the senior citizens of the different villages of our parish who evidently had fun dancing, singing and playing games. The event was made even more meaningful when some disabled beneficiaries of PALM from the communities were given canes and a wheelchair through the tireless effort of Teresa Charities and the De La Salle University. Still in line with the said celebration, free flu vaccinations were given to a number of elderly beneficiaries, mostly from the communities under our parish, last September 17, This project of PALM was in coordination with Teresa Charities and the IHMP Christian Family Movement (CFM).

4 4 EUCHARISTIC LEAGUE Celebrates 34th Anniversary by Flory Rosal THE IHMP Eucharistic League (EL) successfully celebrated their 34th Anniversary last August 15, 2017 beginning with a celebration of the Holy Mass at 6:30am with Fr. Desiderio Martin as the Officiating Priest. A simple breakfast and fellowship immediately followed at the Annex of Bulwagang Claret. Fr Martin gave a short inspirational message to all the officers, members and special guests. A short program was prepared with Analyn Carandang as the emcee followed by a community singing of their team song, We have come into this place and worship Him led by Sis Flory Rosal and Sis Elsie Peralta. To make the event even more exciting, special raffle prizes were given away. Indeed, it was a most memorable event in celebration of their 34th Anniversary. Our warmest congratulations to EL President Sis Connie Tacorda, Vice President Sis Susan Gomez and its officers and members for their unselfish support and service to our Lord God and to our beloved parish church. God bless you all!!! CWL celebrates its Sapphire Anniversary by Dollen P. Magnaye WITH the theme, 45 years of Serving and Caring the CWL- IHMP unit celebrated its 45th anniversary in SEDA Vertis North on September 24, 2017 with a Thanksgiving Mass with Fr. Joy Sebastian, CMF as the presider and Fr. Ronnie Banaria, CMF as concelebrant. Sis. Grace Salas and the CWL chorale provided the music and songs during the mass. It was a simple but meaningful gathering of some 50 members and guests, including Sis. Josie Altavas, a CWL National Board member, Sis Lita Dulay, a Diocesan First VP, and Sis Chiqui Violago, the Vicariate of St. Joseph President. It was an intimate way of expressing our gratitude to God for giving us the opportunity to love, serve and care, for the strength to fulfill the League s Vision-Mission and motto: CHARITY, WORK and LOYALTY and for the resources to fund our projects. It was also a night to thank the ever supportive Fr. Lito Ancla, CMF, Fr. Des Martin, CMF and the other Claretian Missionaries, our partners and donors, those who help us pursue our advocacies, and our predecessors for their commitment, dedication and leadership. They have made it possible for our unit to be in existence for 45 years. To keep the audience interest alive, there was an audio-video presentation of the unit s activities. Moreover, some officers and board members prepared dance numbers to the tune of Dayang Dayang, Dahil Sa Yo and Mamang Sorbetero while the past presidents sang their favorite song, Sa Libis ng Nayon. Lance Javier s rendition of Footloose was a hit as everybody danced with him. The String Minstrels serenaded us with broadway hit songs and some of our favorite yesteryears songs at dinnertime. Some queued at the photo booth for their souvenir pictures. Other activities during the anniversary month were the induction of CWL new members at the Jerusalem Room last September 10, 2017, the Cosmetology Class and Rebonding Seminar last Setember 8, 2017 and the Entrepreneurship Seminar last September 13, The Social Services and Development Department (SSDD) Graduation Day was held at the QC Hall on September 29, 2017.

Tomas, Batangas for the feast of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, the saint who propagated the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It was presided by Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales. NOONG Setyembre 10, 2017, pagkatapos ng Banal na Misa namahagi ng tulong ang IHMP sa pangunguna nila Fr. Lito Ancla, CMF at Fr. Josh, CMF sa 120 pamilyang apektado ng sunog sa pamayanan ng Pechayan, Brgy. Old Capitol Site. 5

It was a wonderful way of praying as a community! Blessing of the Newly Renovated Sacristy by Flory Rosal OUR newly renovated Sacristy was blessed last September 8, 2017 by our Parish Priest Fr. Angelito Ancla, CMF after the celebration of the Holy Mass commemorating the birthday of our Blessed Mother. 7 7 New Way to Celebrate Halloween: ABC Kids Join Parade of Saints by Sophia Roman WHY do we dress up as demons or monsters on the night before All Saints Day? About 300 Ako ay Batang Claret (ABC) Kids, dressed as saints, gave their own answer last October 29, 2017 during the Parade of Saints. The Parade of Saints is a tradition of the parish in lieu of the usual Trick or Treat. The children from the parish s different communities come to the church dressed up as saints, celebrate mass, and continue their celebration through fun activities prepared by the Children s Ministry. The 3:30 mass was celebrated by Fr. Lito Ancla, and he gave a fitting reflection on who really are saints and how we can be saints using the word itself: S Sincerity of Heart (Purity of heart) A Acts of Love I Integrity of Life (Living and loving like Jesus) N Nourishment of the Soul T Trust in the Lord Straight after the mass, various representatives of different ministries helped in repacking goodies while the youth and children arrived. One of the activities was the stations on featured saints. Saints like St. Anthony Mary Claret, St. Teresa of Avila were introduced to the kids. Once they understood their life story, youth facilitators gave them loot bags filled with candies just like how a usual Halloween celebration has candies for Trick or Treaters. Speaking of Halloween, Fr. Lito gave an opening remark to kids and parents alike explaining why we have the Parade of Saints. Halloween comes from the old word hallow meaning holy or banal, explained the parish priest. He added, That is why we shouldn t celebrate Halloween with demons and devils. We should dress holy like our saints. The most striking part of the whole event was how several ministries contributed their goods to support the Parade of Saints, and so on behalf of the Children s Ministry, we would like to give our sincere gratitude. CATECHETICAL MINISTRY ACTIVITIES Poster Making Contest by Marisa Ventura LAST September 23, 2017, the Catechists organized a poster making contest for pupils of San Vicente Elementary School with the theme, Catechists: Agents of Renewal in the Parish. Grades 4 to 6 sent 3 contestants from each level. The winners were Yungee G. Mongcal (1st Place,Grade 6), Joshua Miguel Lopez (2nd place, Grade 5), and Lauren Mae Singco (3rd place, Grade 4). Itanong Mo Sa Simbahan ITANONG Natin Sa Simbahan was a Question and Answer program held last September 16, 2017 at the IHMP Church. Our Parish Priest, Fr. Angelito Ancla, CMF responded to the different questions raised by parishioners and some non-catholics regarding the Christian Catholic Faith and practices. It was a very informative and lively discussion which took almost three and a half hours. Almost a hundred attended the program. San Lorenzo Ruiz and the Catechetical Ministry SAN Lorenzo is the Patron Saint of the Catechists and Overseas Filipino Workers. During the whole month of September, the Catechetical month, with the theme, Cathechists: Agents of Renewal in the Parish, the parishioners were reminded of the words of the Saint who said that given a thousand lives, a thousand times will I offer them to the Lord. These words were beautifully expressed in the song by Fr. Manoling Francisco, SJ, Sanlibong Buhay which was sung every Sunday for the whole month of September during the communion procession. And on September 28, the feast of San Lorenzo, parish catechists renewed their commitment during the mass at 6:00 PM officiated by Fr. Angelito Ancla, CMF, our parish priest. It was attended by different officers and members of Ministries, Organizations and Basic Ecclesial Communities. (continued on page 8)

8 8 Journalism Workshop for Volunteer Writers by Charo Garcia LAST Oct. 21, 2017, at a journalism workshop, the Media Ministry had as resource person, Prof. Joy Montero, English professor at the St. Anthony Mary Claret College. The more than thirty participants who attended, and participated actively, got many tips about how to write effective but short news bits for ALAB, our parish newsletter, as well as for the Facebook page and website of the parish. (Catechetical Ministry Activities continued from page 7) Our Lady of Fatima Visited San Vicente Elementary School TO commemorate the 100th year of the Apparition of the Our Lady of Fatima, San Vicente Elementary School was chosen as one of the schools that was visited by an image of Our Lady of Fatima last October 18, 2017 at 12:45 PM. This image has been visiting different schools and parishes within the Diocese of Cubao to remind everyone, especially children, the message of our Lady to pray the Rosary every day. Grades 3 and 5 pupils together with their teachers welcomed Mother Mary with the waving of flaglets and hankerchiefs to express their expectation and joy. They prayed the Rosary after the short introductory rites.
