1 VOL. 5 #2 JANUARY 18, 2018 NO HIGHER CALLING VOL 5 #2 A NEWSLETTER OF THE KENTUCKY TENNESSEE LITERATURE EVANGELISTS There is no higher work than evangelistic canvassing, for it involves the performance of the highest moral duties. Those who engage in this work need always to be under the control of the Spirit of God. - CM 12 Dear Bookman Friend: Being One with Christ The New Year has arrived! January has always held special challenges for certain Literature Evangelists. Slick roads are always something to be negotiated...should I stay home today or should I try and navigate through the snow? We do well to remember there are at least two sides to every debate. When the weather isn t so nice and you want to stay home, so do all of your potential customers. If you ll persevere when it s late, dark, cold or wet you will find more people at home and often they are more welcoming due to the fact that you cared enough to seek them out. It is my prayer that you have taken the time to analyze last year s reports and accomplishments. Those reports that you ve saved someplace; either in your files or your s that you ve sent. The best way to chart a successful course forward is to analyze past actions and performance against results. Remember that in our daily course as we interface with others, whether while prospecting, canvassing, advertising or just passing someone on the street, Jesus is being revealed by all that we say or do. What Christ was on this earth, the Christian worker should strive to be. He is our example, not only in His spotless purity, but in His patience, gentleness, and winsomeness of disposition. His life is an illustration of true courtesy. He had ever a kind look and a word of comfort for the needy and the oppressed. His presence brought a purer atmosphere into the home. His life was a leaven working amid the elements of society. Pure and undefiled, He walked among the thoughtless, the rude, the uncourteous; among unjust publicans, unrighteous Samaritans, heathen soldiers, rough peasants, and the mixed multitude. He spoke a word of sympathy here and a word there. As He saw men weary, and compelled to bear heavy burdens, He shared their burdens, and repeated to them the lessons He had learned from nature, of the love, the kindness, the goodness of God. He sought to inspire with hope the most rough and unpromising, setting before them the assurance that they might attain such a character as would make them manifest as children of God. Gospel Workers, 121 Always Onward & Upward, Rocky The church must give her attention to the canvassing work. This is one way in which she is to shine in the world. Then she will go forth, fair as the moon, clear as the sun and terrible as an army with banners. RH Jan. 1, 1901
