2 A Journey OF faith, hope & love In September of 2010, the Building Upon the Legacy capital campaign was born. At that time a group of passionate supporters of Christian education in this area was assembled and challenged to move into the community to spread the message and enlist support for the construction of a new school facility for the Holland Marsh District Christian School Society. This society is the oldest Christian School in Canada with its humble beginnings in Over the years many students were educated in the light of God s Word and with the commitment and message that Jesus Christ is Lord over all of creation and that education should also include that perspective in all subject areas. By the early 2000s it was becoming

3 apparent that the current facility would need to be replaced. The question was when and where would it be built and how would the funds be raised. By 2007 a site was chosen and a capital campaign was launched. That initiative resulted in the new site being acquired and paid for as the concept of building the new facility began to take root in the community. In 2010 the society decided to embark on a campaign to raise funds for the building. The goal of the campaign was to raise $4,000,000. By 2013 there were enough funds committed that the membership approved proceeding towards construction. Actual construction began in 2014 and was completed by September of Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labour in vain. Psalm 127:1 This is the story of Faith that the Lord would provide whatever we stand in need of as we ask in prayer. It is also a story of Hope that the Lord would instill in the community the desire and commitment to this project to provide the necessary funds. The path unfolded in a way which displayed the Love that this community has for the Lord and the ministry to children through Christian Education. Each step of this

4 journey has had a foundation of constant prayer to the Lord that He would bless the efforts and gifts given by many volunteers and donors. This endeavour consisted of a common goal and unity which defined the community whose names are listed in the report. It was decided early on in the campaign that we should celebrate and recognize the generosity of the many donors as each gave in accordance with Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7 their blessings and the need with which this community was challenged. Each donor was faced with a challenge and opportunity to support as they felt moved. We humbly thank each supporter for the role that they have chosen to play in this chapter of Christian education in this area. As you read through the list you will see anonymous listed many times. This represents the donors from whom we were not able to receive permission or were not able to reach for permission to publish their name. Each name represents a decision to make a gift which will provide lasting benefits for children at King Christian School over the decades to come. The support given throughout the campaign and building process is an exemplary demonstration of the faithful stewardship of many people. This support is a testament to the generous and sacrificial giving which the campaign team has been privileged to witness. May the Lord bless each of us as we strive to serve the Lord in all areas of life.

8 Well done, good and faithful servants. Christian Education is an ongoing multigenerational effort by many people. We recognize the efforts, generosity and commitment shown over the entire 73 years of existence of the HMDCS society. This campaign and the building has been built upon the foundation of that support and will be the foundation for future generations at KCS.
