Dear TLS Band Parents, With early outs, Thanksgiving, and basketball tournaments we are a little behind in Christmas program preparation. My thanks to the students who realize this and have been playing their instrument at home. Thank you for your support in this. On December 13, the Christmas Program, please have your young musician to the church by 5:55 so they can have their instrument out and be ready to warm up and tune by 6:00. We will start performing pre-concert music around 6:10. December 15 is an early dismissal day and LEST practice for grade 6 8 will be only for students who sign up to request extra help. The signup sheet is in the band room. I ll have a list for you by Monday, December 11. Thank you and blessings to you all on this most magical of seasons as we anticipate the birth our Savior. This includes a doorbell for parent entrance when the doors are locked. PTF also raised over $ for afterschool clubs! WOW! NO PTF MEETING IN DECEMBER If you need SALT hours or want to help PTF, we will need parental help with the in school Christmas crafts (organized by Shanae) on Dec 14th and 15th. Also the craft show is coming up and I m sure Carrie Dahlke would love to have helpers cleaning up after the bazaar for SALT hours too. Let s have a giving spirit with our time this Holiday season. We need to be reminded that our Heavenly Father s love for us was so strong He desired to leave heaven and come to earth, where He could be with us; until He takes us to our eternal heavenly home. I pray this Christmas you receive this treasure in a new light. I pray through the stresses of finances, over extended schedules with late nights, and in the joy and chaos of gatherings with extended family, you will pause for prolonged moments in front of the Christmas lights. You will pause for a holy breathe of peace. You will listen to the Prince of Peace speak His Truth over you in the brief stillness, and let the Wonderful Counselor remind you of His great love. This writer put sounds down in order making a longer word for any kindergartner. Many students are beginning to write sentences independently, and are required to apply known sight words in context. Students begin to design a large mural - an extended project. They will design it and create their own Christmas corner to replace the reading garden in class. Group projects that are child initiated and designed are high level. Their art has a purpose and a use in class too! Students are generally required to use sight words correctly in sentences to communicate their good ideas. Our little scholars are also working on spacing their words, starting with capital letters, and ending with punctuation too! It is so nice that we can be in a school that can celebrate Jesus in so many different ways. All Kindergarten students are working their way into Saxon 1 Math Facts - They love DOUBLES Ask about Doubles, Doubles, I can add Doubles It s no trouble for me to add Doubles! Students are beginning to also record their second set of Saxon phonograms in dictation (after oral practice). Students practice guided reading, independent reading and research during centers.

Young students should be exposed to expository text frequently, and academic vocabulary words at about 2 years ahead to ease learning in later years. Second Grade Students work at just the right level in Saxon 3. They are challenged with their independent practice, but not frustrated by it. They are in their ZPD or Zone of Proximal Development.a just right zone identified by Vygotsky.

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, Praise means, to express a favorable judgment of: commend. Examples from daily life include: Super job! You are so bright. Two Types of Praise Spontaneous This type comes from sincere excitement over something a child has done. Most of the time, I encourage people to relax and allow this type to happen. Intentional This type is done by good-hearted people for the express purpose of shaping behavior. This type is the most likely to backfire. An Alternative: Notice and Describe Notice and describe the behavior without judging it. Examples: I noticed that you finished the assignment even though it was challenging. You did all of your chores without being reminded. How does that feel? I noticed that you kept your cool when those kids were teasing you. What was that like for you? I noticed that you spent a lot of time today helping your little brother. You completed nine out of ten correctly. I imagine that feels really good.
