3 Worship at Park Central pg. 3 Summer Sermon Series Have you ever heard of the The Great Ends of the Church? These six overarching goals or great ends are foundational to who the church is and what it is called to do. They beckon us toward a deeper love of God and neighbor. The summer sermon series will explore the Great Ends and invite us to consider how they may guide us in the midst of a culture that often seems to be at loose ends. The series will begin with an introduction on June 5 and run through the end of August. The proclamation of the gospel for the salvation of humankind The shelter, nurture, and spiritual fellowship of the children of God The maintenance of divine worship The preservation of the truth The promotion of social righteousness The exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven to the world ~ PC(USA) Book of Order

4 Education at Park Central pg. 4 On Tuesday, June 7th from 5:30 to 6:30 we will gather at the Honeywell Visitor's Center (off 690 West) to hear about the work that has been done to clean the Onondaga Lake and surrounding areas. Please sign up so we'll know how many chairs to set up. If the weather cooperates, there may be a chance to walk part of the walking trail in that area. Refreshments will follow at the home of Sandi Yingling and Lyn Carman. ~Your Membership & Outreach Committee

Mission at Park Central Haiti Clinic Treats 265 Our Haitian partners, The FEED (Foundation for the Development of Children at Risk) team

Paulette, Haiti. They were assisted by the FEED team volunteers.

Nine people were referred to the hospital for more treatment.

Many of the children were treated for bacterial infections caused by a lack of access to clean water.

The children treated at the clinic do not currently have access to any type of healthcare other than the medical clinic supported by Park

We will be sharing teaching methods and materials with the teachers at the two primary schools in Paulette.

5 Mission at Park Central Haiti Clinic Treats 265 Our Haitian partners, The FEED (Foundation for the Development of Children at Risk) team would like to thank the Haiti M & M and the congregation of Park Central Presbyterian Church for funding the annual 3 day medical clinic in the village of Paulette, Haiti. Dr. Louis Clonel and his staff of two were able to offer medical consultation to 265 people at the mobile clinic held at the FEED headquarters in Paulette, Haiti. They were assisted by the FEED team volunteers. During the 3 day clinic this past April, 253 children and 12 adults received medical attention. Nine people were referred to the hospital for more treatment. People, mostly children, were treated for the following: typhoid, malaria, intestinal parasites, asthma, skin infections and anemia. Many of the children were treated for bacterial infections caused by a lack of access to clean water. This is the third year that Park Central has funded the mobile medical clinic in Paulette. The children treated at the clinic do not currently have access to any type of healthcare other than the medical clinic supported by Park Central and run by our Haitian partners. There will be a mission trip to Paulette, Haiti October 23 29, We will be sharing teaching methods and materials with the teachers at the two primary schools in Paulette. We will also be visiting the Good Samaritan Literacy Center funded by Pebble Hill Presbyterian Church. So far, Scott Manuel (from United Church of Fayetteville) and Tim & Georgette Schmidt are committed to going on the October trip. If anyone else would like to go on the October trip, please talk to a member of the Haiti M & M. (Scott or Gloria Manuel, Ruth Colvin, Wynetta Devore, Karen or Harry Dross, Tim or Georgette Schmidt, Andrew McTyre) You do not have to be a teacher to go on this trip. 6 Mission at Park Central pg. 6 STITCHES MEETS EVERY MONDAY ~ 1:30pm AT PARK CENTRAL Stitches would like to thank all the members of the congregation who so generously donated fabric, crayons, sewing machines, and sewing supplies. We have completed 50 pillowcases for refugees and for others who need pillowcases. We are currently working on making crayon-holders out of kid-friendly fabric. Some of these crayon holders are used by children on Sunday at Park Central. Some of the crayon holders will be donated to Delaware School in Syracuse. Fifty of the crayon holders will be taken to the two primary schools in Paulette, Haiti on the October 2016 mission trip. People in Stitches have made a skirt and a purse. You are welcome to come to Stitches if you can already sew. We can always use help working on the latest project. We also do mending when there is a need. Stitches meets at 1:30 on Mondays at Park Central and is a time of fun and fellowship. Stitches would like to thank Sarah McTyre for leading us in a weekly devotion as we merrily sew along. Church Event at Park Central On Sunday, June 12, let s gather from noon until 4:30 pm at the Willow Bay Shelter in Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool for our annual church picnic.

7 Church Event at Park Central On Sunday, June 12, let s gather from noon until 4:30 pm at the Willow Bay Shelter in Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool for our annual church picnic. Whether you come for an hour or stay for the duration, the picnic is always a special time of wonderful fellowship, food, and fun. Bring a lawn chair to listen to the special music that s being planned or to enjoy a shady spot with great views of the lake. Take a leisurely tram ride, stroll along the lake, or bring your rollerblades and bike. Kids will love the playground nearby, and for those so inclined, we re continuing the trivia game tradition. The Deacons will provide hamburgers and hotdogs; supplies (plates, cups, napkins, utensils, etc.); bottled water; and ice tubs. So that we can estimate how much food to purchase, please sign up on the table in the Fayette Street entrance. Please also indicate if you will bring a dish to pass or need a ride. And be sure to pick up the Picnic Q&A for directions and a park map. Questions? Contact any of the Deacons. Church Event at Park Central pg. 8 Fall Retreat Theme & Speaker Our fall retreat will be held Saturday, October 8 at Christ the King Retreat Center in Syracuse, just minutes from Park Central.

Our retreat will be held in the Downstairs Conference Room, with lunch provided in the adjacent dining room. Our retreat leader is the Rev. Mary Anderson, pastor of the Weedsport Presbyterian Church.

As Mary has prayed and begun to prepare for the retreat, she has felt called to use the Beatitudes as the scriptural foundation for our day together. More details will come along in the weeks ahead.

Do take a moment to look at for photos of this peaceful, comfortable facility. Our retreat will be held in the Downstairs Conference Room, with lunch provided in the adjacent dining room. Our retreat leader is the Rev. Mary Anderson, pastor of the Weedsport Presbyterian Church. Mary is devising a day of teaching, contemplation, and fellowship in the context of our ongoing consideration of pilgrimage seeing ourselves as a faith community and as individuals on the Way to God. Mary Anderson, pastor of the Weedsport Presbyterian Church Hello friends at Park Central! I am one of your neighbors. I live with my husband, Garrett, and nine-year old son, Sam, in Liverpool. I serve the Weedsport Presbyterian Church as their installed pastor. I have had the privilege of growing alongside this spiritual community for five years. I discovered my true passion was in helping others nurture their spiritual lives as a campus pastor. So I decided to pursue it. I was trained as a Spiritual Director & Retreat Leader at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Center for Spirituality during my years in seminary. My spirituality has been influenced by several authors like ancient mystic writer Julian of Norwich and more contemporary devotional writers like Amy Carmichael, Henri Nouwen and currently Richard Rohr. Designing and facilitating retreats is one of my favorite things to give my time and attention to. I believe coming away to be with God pleases God s heart. I know I am personally enriched and I seek to provide an environment where others are spiritually enriched as well. Oh what joy... My others loves are cooking, cleaning (yes I know!) and arranging flowers.
