8 There simply is no Scripture that I know of which clearly states the gifts of the Spirit would cease after the first century. I think it s also noteworthy to point out that history repudiates the notion that the supernatural gifts ceased with the closing of the canon of Scripture at the end of the Apostolic age To claim that spiritual gifts are no longer operative is, in my opinion, to fly in the face of both historical and contemporary evidence. I believe that "signs and wonders" and all the spiritual gifts of 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 are valid for today and should be "earnestly desired" (1 Corinthians 14:1) for the edification of the church and the spread of the gospel. 21 Holy Spirit Illumines God s Will 1 Corinthians 2:10, For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one.

22 Holy Spirit Teaches Us All Things 1 John 2:20-21, Nevertheless you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. 23 What About Being Led By the Holy Spirit? Romans 8:14 -- For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Galatians 5:18 -- But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.

24 What About Being Moved By The Spirit? 2 Peter 1:21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

25 What About Walking By the Holy Spirit? Romans 8: so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, Galatians 5:16, But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.

26 What About The Holy Spirit Testifying To Us? Romans 8:16 -- The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, Hebrews 10: For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying, "THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THEM AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS UPON THEIR HEART, AND ON THEIR MIND I WILL WRITE THEM,"

27 Test The Spirits With Scripture 1 Corinthians 12:3 -- Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus is accursed"; and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 14:37 -- If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord's commandment. 1 John 4:1-4,6 -- Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that; Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

28 Talking Sola Scriptura Brother, I ve got a word from the Spirit for you. God, show me a sign I feel called to be in the ministry I feel led by the Spirit to oppose this I prayed about it and God answered my prayer by giving me a conviction I d like to encourage/exhort you God, give me wisdom I desire to teach. Do I have that gift? This is unscriptural. I am going to oppose it. I prayed about it, trusting God and casting my cares upon him, but I finally decided and here s why.

31 What About Being Filled With The Holy Spirit? Acts 4:8 -- Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them,. Acts 4:31 -- And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness. Acts 2:4 -- And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance. Ephesians 5: So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing

32 What About Praying in the Holy Spirit? Jude 1: These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

33 What About Spiritual Groanings? Romans 8: But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it. In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. Galatians 4:6 -- Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, " Abba! Father!"

34 What About Not Quenching The Holy Spirit? 1 Thessalonians 5: in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the Spirit; do not despise prophetic utterances. But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil.

35 What About Not Grieving the Holy Spirit? Ephesians 4: Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along
