1 IN REACH What is body ministry? (Eph 4 & 1Cor 12) REVIEW: Series covering my vision for CCE #1. Up-Reach = A God focused church NOT numbers & statistics but a quality of ministry! My goals are not monetary or materialistic o Cp. Fund raising or a number s game My philosophy of ministry to be lived out in the members of the body of Christ at CCE is o Seeking to attain a SPIRITUAL MATURITY. My vision is that we would rise up to the pattern of New Testament church NOT a pattern from the corrupted church history. Orthodox, Protestant, Reformed, Pentecostal, etc. But to go all the way back to the beginning My vision is to build a church of spiritually mature believers who are DOERS of the word. (In Reach) My vision is to build up a congregation where the majority of the flock is "MINISTRY MINDED". o Ready to pray, lying on of hands, service... 2 My vision is for CCE to be a church whose members use their SPIRITUAL GIFTS, follow their God given passions, and FULFILL THEIR CALLINGS START WITH THE BASICS OF IN REACH DISCIPLESHIP = (The 4 foundations of discipleship) And they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2:42 RESULTING A SPIRIT LED congregation 1. In HOLINESS Therefore, brethren, we are debtors--not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Romans 8:12-14, NKJV. I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Galatians 5:16-18, NKJV. (EXPLAIN) 2. In WORSHIP & MINISTRY Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT, *speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, *singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, *submitting to one another in the fear of God. Ephesians 5:17-21, NKJV. THE 6-FOLD MINISTRY! Page 2 of 7

3 (TURN TO Ephesians 4:11ff & EXPLAIN ) (Incorrectly labeled The 5-fold ministry ) And He Himself gave some to be APOSTLES, some PROPHETS, some EVANGELISTS, and some PASTORS and TEACHERS, for the equipping of THE SAINTS for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, (STOP & explain) till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--christ-- from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. Eph 4:11-16 Read & EXPLAIN God s design for the church TURN TO - There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, NKJV. ONE of the ways God wants to make Himself KNOWN and REAL in our lives is through the GIFTS of the Holy Spirit! MANIFESTATION! (DEFINE & EXPLAIN ) Page 3 of 7

4 But THE MANIFESTATION OF THE SPIRIT is given to each one for the profit of all 1 Corinthians 12:7, NKJV. Notice - V:1! Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: 1 Corinthians 12:1, NKJV. every believer is SAVED TO SERVE EVERY MAN A MINISTER? Are you seeking the Lord for your gifts & calling? *Stand for prayer for the filling of the Holy Spirit! WHAT'S THE NEXT STEP? Discovering your gifts Everyone should SEEK a place of SERVICE Experiment and step out in faith Your goal should be to discover and use your gifts for the Lord. Sunday school, nursery, users & greeters, small group leaders, just and overall heart to serve. Be on the hunt whenever the church gathers Lord, use me today! MORE? Be a part of or start a Women s, men s, breaking bread or Host special fellowship group focusing upon apologetics, marriage, finances, etc. We ALSO need MINISTRY TEAMS. i.e. Good News Clubs, door to door, Convalescent, visitation, Mary & Martha, prayer teams Page 4 of 7

5 If you have a gift or calling that you don t see a place for here, talk to me, call me, me. Let s talk! WHAT ARE THE ENEMIES OF IN REACH? SIN and SELF-SEEKING For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Romans 8:5-8, NKJV. DIVISION, the critical spirit, the pointing finger, the waging tongue! For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another! Galatians 5:14, 15, NKJV. Division, Gossip, the pointing finger, a critical spirit. Guard your hearts! (PRAY against these & bind) These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud LOOK, A lying TONGUE, HANDS that shed innocent blood, A HEART that devises wicked plans, FEET that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren. Proverbs 6:16-19, NKJV. Beware of one of Satan's oldest tricks! Satan = accuser of the brethren & a divider of the flock. Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them Page 5 of 7

6 before our God day and night, has been cast down. Revelation 12:10, NKJV. What is the opposite? Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians 2:1-4, NKJV. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you. Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Ephesians 4:30-5:2, NKJV. The instruction of scripture Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; Romans 12:10, NKJV Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. Colossians 3:12-14, NKJV. Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, NKJV.
