5 LIFEGROUP APPLICATION QUESTIONS We believe the Sunday Morning Message is the Word God is speaking to our church. We want to give everyone at Harvest the opportunity to apply God s Word to their individual lives. You can visit our website each week to find the Life Group Application Questions that will help you get ready for Life Group and put into practice what God speaks to your heart on Sunday morning. Visit I can t imagine life the past few years without our Life Group. In July of 2013, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. Our Life Group was like a second family to us and stood with us in prayer and faith that Erin would be healed. When Erin was having a procedure, we received numerous phone calls and texts from members of our group telling us they were praying for us. Our Life Group also blessed us with multiple meals and we even came home from the hospital to a nicely mowed yard! During Erin s final surgery, the doctor came out to tell us there was a minor complication that would require a longer hospital stay and a much longer recovery time. I was devastated and heartbroken for Erin because I knew she would be upset when she woke from her surgery. I cried out to God for help! He responded quickly, telling me to reach out to those who love us and fight with us, our Life Group. At my request, our group leader sent out a prayer request that Erin would have total peace and a complete recovery. Erin woke up and had complete peace about the situation and recovered without any other complications! She is now almost two years cancer free! God has used our Life Group to show us His love for us. I recommend you try one. Tomas & Erin Cruz 5

We lacked it in our marriage, with our children, and in our relationships with other believers. Two years ago we moved back to Plainview. Attending a Life Group is what got us reconnected. It gave us the opportunity to live life as God intended.!!!!!!!" "And!let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,!not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and!all the more as you see!the Day drawing near." Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV Today we have the courage to live life out loud and encourage those around us. It's a fun, safe, and available way to get plugged in. Radar & Betty Garcia 7

9 Life Group what hasn't it done for my family? We were broken and thought there was no way we could mend things and have a path where we could grow together. But, our family has grown more in the last 6 months than the past 20 years because we have been involved in a Life Group here at Harvest. We were afraid at first because we didn't even know how to love each other as a family, but through great friends in our Life Group, we've learned to put God first. Because of this, our hearts have grown by allowing the Holy Spirit to change us. In times of grief and hurt, our Life Group has given us life. Through prayer, we've learned that it s not just about asking, but rather, it s about listening to everything God's imprinting on our hearts. Our family was lost and hurt and we didn't know how to overcome, but slowly, with help from the people in our Life Group, we've been able to turn to Jesus for guidance in so many situations. We've learned to let go and let God. Of course, that sounds like an over-used quote, but when you learn to live by it, you understand that it s so very true. God knows all the things we go through and yet He never leaves our side. God gave His only son that we may be saved by His blood. This was hard for us to accept when we felt shame, guilt, and hurt, until we joined a Life Group. Words cannot express our gratitude for seeing life through love, grace, and blessings from our Father above. Our faith has been sharpened through the Life Groups we've attended. I couldn t have made that statement a couple of years ago. After we joined Harvest we had heard a lot about Life Groups and how wonderful they were. I was very hesitant to even try one, but my husband and I were in one of the toughest times in our lives. We had been bombarded with a lot of things that were challenging us emotionally, physically, and mentally. I didn't want to put ourselves out there for any more challenges because I, myself, had withdrawn from life outside of work and my grandkids. To make a long story short, we decided to attend a Life Group. The first one we tried fit us perfectly. Our lives have been so much better since we started going and we never want to miss! We were met with nothing but love, support, and a bonding experience with a small part of the family of Harvest. I feel like Life Groups are what heaven is going to be like! Gary & Teresa Harriss 11

13 Honey, I just really feel like we need some committed people to do life with. Little did we know when those words were spoken just how quickly our lives were about to change. A friend at work had recently explained the Life Group ministry at Harvest, and we began visiting in hopes of finding the right fit for us. We immediately felt comfortable with the relaxed home atmosphere. Two weeks after joining our Life Group, we received some devastating news. Our son and his wife were expecting their 2 nd child and had gone in for a routine sonogram only to be told that their baby carried the gene for Down Syndrome and had markers for various heart and lung complications. It was devastating news, yet we shared it with our Life Group, asking them to pray for the baby, for his parents, and for us as grandparents. Never before had we received this type of prayer!! They not only laid hands on us and prayed that night, but they continued to pray specifically for healing of the heart and lungs. Not a day went by without someone in the group texting, ing, or sending words of encouragement through scriptures and songs. During the same month, my dad was diagnosed with a massive malignant brain tumor, and we moved him home under hospice care. Again, our life group DID LIFE with us, upholding us in prayer during the final weeks of Dad s life. We were faced with back-toback life altering events, and God had given us Christian friends to support us in His perfect timing. Schuyler McCullough Hurt was born on Good Friday with a heart murmur, moved to NICU and placed on oxygen. We contacted our Life Group to PRAY for healing of his heart! He was released to come home on EASTER Sunday with a perfectly NORMAL heart! Dad went home to be with Jesus a week later! What is a Life Group? People who care people who pray people who walk the journey alongside! No matter what! David & Susan Hurt 13

It s like the completion of the sermon we heard on Sunday morning. The application questions are awesome because they help us look at ourselves and see how the message from Sunday morning can apply to our everyday lives. We love Life Group because it encourages us to be real as we live life with our close knit family of friends. Jerry & Georgia Wall

From being a part of Compass, the college ministry, and leading in youth to joining an established group and hosting groups in our own home, Life Groups provide people of all ages a place to delve deeply into the heart of God. They open the opportunity to seek truth and grow spiritually across the seasons of life. Relationships grow. Wisdom is passed from generation to generation. In Life Groups we learn hospitality. We develop leadership. We find freedom from condemnation. We discover answers. We establish family. We do life together. Jay & Mary Coleman 16

19 The best environment for life-long transformation to take place is within community. Besides faith in Jesus, nothing else reaps such rich rewards as being connected with other believers and intentionally investing into ourselves and each another. We believe our walk with God is a journey of discipleship that leads us to a place of spiritual maturity. We deepen our relationships with God and others as we apply God s Word to our lives. The ultimate expression of Christian maturity is serving each other. We serve by praying for each other, meeting the genuine needs of people, and by volunteering in the various ministries of the church, in order to create an environment where people experience God. 19
