1 BBC Update BBC Hosts Fourth Annual Vacation Bible School Dr. Thomas Strouse For the fourth straight year BBC hosted the Vacation Bible School under the leadership of Mr. Ryan Strouse. The theme was on Eph. 6:1-3, Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. Dr. Thomas Strouse BBC children and several visitors attended and were challenged with this truth. The children memorized verses, played games and worked on crafts. Many thanks go to Mr. and Mrs. Gagnon for their help as well as many parents and church members. Kirsten Gagnon taught the children and Ryan Strouse encouraged them to obey their parents. Lydia Hope Above: The children recited Bible verses from memory each morning during check in Welcome, Lydia Hope Schabert! We are thankful that the Lord gave Mr. and Mrs. Mark Schabert their daughter Lydia Hope. Lydia came into the world on June 14, a month before she was expected! The family seems to be adjusting to this new arrival. Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate (Ps. 127:3-5). 6 Devotional Corner 6 Expedient Devotional Corner Expedient Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. John 16:7 Speaking to his disciples, the Lord shared with them that it was expedient for them that He go away. It is clear that He was speaking of His death, His resurrection, and His ascension into heaven. So what was He trying to share with them and what did it mean for them, and not only them but for every born-again Believer subsequent to His time. In reading the verse, what pops right out at the reader is that when the Lord goes from them, He will not leave them alone, but will send them a Comforter, Quotes From the Past: Charles H. Spurgeon, A renowned Baptist Pastor in London, England: A comment he made on wisdom. Charles H. Spurgeon Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom. a paraklete. This Greek word speaks of one called along side to aid. It is without question this help by the Holy Spirit that gives the Believer comfort and strength. Not so clearly seen, but clearly evident under the microscope of the Greek language, is another very important work of the Holy Spirit or Comforter in the Believer s life. This work is found in the word expedient, symphero. What this Greek word signifies is to bear together, reflecting an image of when two are bearing a load, burden, or task rather than one person. The truth that the Lord Jesus was telling His disciples that it was in their best interest for Him to go from them, so that, He could send them the Comforter to help them bear their responsibilities toward Him. Perhaps if the Believer thought about his burdens, and responsibilities as a one hundred pound sack of potatoes that he was carrying into the kitchen and how much easier it would be if someone else was on the other side of the sack, helping to carry it. Now this is exactly what the Lord is saying, I have to go so I can send you a helper. That helper is the Holy Spirit, helping and empowering Believers to carry their burdens and responsibilities. -CAR Miss Sophia Gagnon sang a beautiful special during the Sunday morning service, with sister, Amanda Gagnon providing the piano accompaniment!
