1 5th Sunday in ordinary time On behalf of Father Victor and to all who are with us today, Thank You for being here. Love is present among us this day, Thank You! February 4, 2018 Volume 2, Issue #5 Celebrant: Father Martin deporres This Mass is being offered up for Father Victor Ray Wisdom From Father My life is nothing but drudgery; I am filled with sadness, tired of dealing with the mess other people have made of this world. Life is an unbearable burden. Will it ever end? Is there a God out there who cares what happens to us, or are we helpless pawns on some cosmic chessboard, only accidentally born? If God is so good, why does He allow us to experience pain, loss, terrible depression, and various disasters? How can I bring health, happiness and good news to those around me if I do live in with those things within me? I cannot give to others what I do not have myself. If I am to help in bringing better lives to those around me then I need to identify and cast out my own demons so that I might better live in the power of God and then share that exorcising power with those around me. If we do nothing, if we give up the struggle to grow spiritually and grow in the love and power of God, then all that will be left for us is to moan and groan about life and all its unfairness. Job suffered the saints suffered the righteous have suffered Jesus Christ suffered. And so will we. The question is: What are you going to do about it? What are you going to do about it in your own heart and soul, and what are you going to do about it when it comes to removing it from the lives of others? If we do nothing, then indeed life will be uncaring, threatening and over-powering. If we do nothing we will have nothing left to do but complain and shake our fists at God. If, on the other hands, we enter deeply into the life and Spirit of Jesus Christ then we shall have the power to face any and all evils, internal and external. Then life s challenge will be an opportunity; then all that confronts us will become promises. Then we will have the wherewithal to cast out the worst of demons and reveal the presence of God s kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven. Fr. Victor Ray

6 GATHERING
7 Reading 1 JOB 7:1-4, 6-7 Job spoke, saying: Is not man's life on earth a drudgery? Are not his days those of hirelings? He is a slave who longs for the shade, a hireling who waits for his wages. So I have been assigned months of misery, and troubled nights have been allotted to me. If in bed I say, "When shall I arise?" then the night drags on; I am filled with restlessness until the dawn. My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle; they come to an end without hope. Remember that my life is like the wind; I shall not see happiness again. Hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church. THANKS BE TO GOD. Responsorial Psalm PSALM 147:1-2, 3-4, 5-6 R. Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, who heals the brokenhearted. Praise the LORD, for he is good; sing praise to our God, for he is gracious; it is fitting to praise him. The LORD rebuilds Jerusalem; the dispersed of Israel he gathers. R. Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, who heals the brokenhearted. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He tells the number of the stars; he calls each by name. R. Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, who heals the brokenhearted. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; to his wisdom there is no limit. The LORD sustains the lowly; the wicked he casts to the ground. R. Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, who heals the brokenhearted. Reading 2 1 CORINTHIANS 9:16-19, Brothers and sisters: If I preach the gospel, this is no reason for me to boast, for an obligation has been imposed on me, and woe to me if I do not preach it! If I do so willingly, I have a recompense, but if unwillingly, then I have been entrusted with a stewardship. What then is my recompense? That, when I preach, I offer the gospel free of charge so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel. Although I am free in regard to all, I have made myself a slave to all so as to win over as many as possible. To the weak I became weak, to win over the weak. I have become all things to all, to save at least some. All this I do for the sake of the gospel, so that I too may have a share in it. Hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church. THANKS BE TO GOD.
8 SING ALLELUIA RIGHT AWAY R. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. Christ took away our infirmities and bore our diseases. R. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. Alleluia MATTHEW 8:17 Gospel MARK 1:29-39 On leaving the synagogue Jesus entered the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John. Simon's mother-in-law lay sick with a fever. They immediately told him about her. He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up. Then the fever left her and she waited on them. When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons. The whole town was gathered at the door. He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him. Rising very early before dawn, he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed. Simon and those who were with him pursued him and on finding him said, "Everyone is looking for you." He told them, "Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come." So he went into their synagogues, preaching and driving out demons throughout the whole of Galilee. This is the Gospel of the Lord. PRAISE TO YOU LORD JESUS CHRIST.

13 UNDERSTANDING OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH ALLENDALE OUR CONTRACT We are paying Allendale $1,000 per month for the use of the Chapel. We are also paying $100 per month for an office for Father Victor Ray and our supplies. The understanding for the use of the Chapel is for Sunday's at 10:30 am and whatever other events such as weddings, special Mass, First Fridays, etc. that we need the Chapel for. The Chapel is being used by Allendale for their special events such as weddings, funerals, etc. and is also booked every Wednesday morning at 9:30 am for Pastor Andy's visit with the children followed by a Ladies Prayer Group. The $1,000 that we are paying does not give us full exclusivity use of the Chapel, if we needed that it would cost anywhere from 3-5 K a month. In decorating the Chapel and Narthex space, our consideration is the welfare of the children of Allendale. We have full authority on the Altar area because children are not allowed up there. Everywhere else, children have access. That is why we've requested not to go out and spend the money buying something for our RENTAL space but, to put the money in the Offertory so that one day we will have our own space to do with as we want. We have access to the Allendale Campus and all its rooms. The only thing we need to do is to schedule our use with their secretary. This is coordinated through Bill who has full communication access to the secretary and will avoid any confusion or over booking. WHAT WE ARE MISSING We need to start thinking outside the box!! As stated previously we have full use of the Allendale Campus, if we schedule it. They have a huge kitchen, an auditorium, child care, sanctuary for larger weddings, classrooms, etc. Huge Kitchen Pancake breakfast fundraising. Instead of going to a restaurant after Mass have a brunch and charge $5 or so for entrance which is cheaper than a restaurant. Fish fry on Friday Nights sponsored by a local restaurant for fundraising. You get the big picture? Auditorium Fundraising concerts, bands, events, etc. Child Care We can now advertise that we have child care available. We might have to pay extra for the person to extend the hours but, we now have more Offertory coming in. Sanctuary Larger weddings, hosting Interfaith functions, etc. Classrooms We are coordinating Bible Study effort with Allendale so that we can combine both Churches for Bible Study (details to follow). Classrooms can be used for discussion groups, podcast recording studio, etc. BOTTOM LINE We are in Partnership with Allendale. We can both learn a lot from each other. On money income events; even if we spilt the profits with Allendale because of their participation in the event, we still have funds coming in that were never there before. For those that are not business minded, when you have funds coming in you also have an actual human discovering who we are. It's a WIN, WIN! RUMOR SQUELCHING Pastor Andy visits us on Sunday's because he's personable and LOVES Donut Holes. Allendale's rent or utilities is probably astronomical. $1,000 a month comes nowhere close to paying half. If you have any questions or concerns or any rumors, Please, contact Father or Bill or any HOM Member to clarify anything that is bothering you. Letting something fester can be a terrible thing and causes so many weird thoughts. Trust me I know from first hand.
