1 CARDIFF UNIVERSITY We are so excited that you have come to Cardiff University and are interested in being part of the Christian Union. We believe that it is really important that we, as Christians, are part of a church. We understand that the prospect of finding a new church can be daunting, so we want to help! Each page of this handbook has information about a different church in Cardiff, including their contact details if you want to find out more. We think you ll be spoiled for choice! We are also holding church walks to help you find a church. We ll be meeting at 9:45am at the bottom of the Students Union steps for four Sundays (from 18th September). Have an idea of which church you want to try out, and there will be someone from there to show you the way!

We are constantly looking to find new ways of taking the gospel out of our building and into the community. 3 If you re looking for family, friends and intent on following Jesus wholeheartedly at university, then join us at All Nations Church. We will care for you, disciple you and give you every opportunity to grow as a Christian while you re a student. Our Sunday meetings are characterised by vibrant worship and passionate, biblical teaching. At the end of the meeting you are invited to our guest area. There you will have opportunity to meet some of our leaders while having some refreshments. Meeting in homes midweek in smaller groups allows you the opportunity to develop your relationship with God and friendships with others in the church. We are here to learn about God, to pray and care for God s world and its people, to celebrate our unity and our diversity, and to be a part of what God is doing in our community and the wider church. 4 Ararat Baptist Church is a warm and welcoming Church found in the heart of Whitchurch Village, 3 miles north of Cardiff city centre. We welcome people of all ages, backgrounds and faiths as we seek to make our community a great place to live. We believe the greatest gift we can give to anybody is the love of God demonstrated in the life and times, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Apart from Sunday services, we hold a monthly Messy Church, a 21 Century Parenting Course, and many other Community based activities. We are a contemporary Christian church that teaches through the Bible each Sunday and has home group studies during the week as well as a young adults group for students and other young Christians seeking to grow in their faith. 5 Cap City is a small vibrant, family friendly, forward thinking church that was planted in Cardiff by a great bunch of Americans back in We re passionate about people! We are al about building a community where the Word is spoken with power, worship is made a top priority and individual discipleship and growth is persued. 6 Cardiff Vineyard is a creative, relevant, outward looking community of people who love Jesus and love our city. Our philosophy is simple: we love Jesus and love students. 7 Emmanuel Baptist Church Emmanuel s a church of around 100 people, of all ages and backgrounds. There s something on most days of the week, but our two Sunday services at 11am and 6pm are our focus. Both services include prayer, singing and Bible teaching, and we sing a mix of traditional and more modern hymns. In both services there s a 35 minute message from the Bible. Freedom Church Cardiff is a vibrant, relevant community. Our vision is Connecting Anyone Anywhere to a Life Changing Relationship with Jesus. Our Sunday services are passionate, with strong relevant teaching. From September 2015 these will be held in our brand new building in the city centre. 8 Heath Evangelical Church Glenwood Church is the heart and hub of Glenwood Faith Community. This is a place where mission, spirituality and learning come together. It is a coalition of ministries that have unique expressions but a common goal of demonstrating the love of God and a passion for His Kingdom. Our Sunday services consist of a time of worship, a talk by a regular or invited speaker, a faith story and sometimes creative input in the form of dance, poetry, video or drama. We have many ministries where people can serve in. We are a fellowship of Christians who love the Gospel, seek to honour and know God personally and to conform to His Word in every aspect of our lives. We preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified as the only means of salvation. As a student, there will be events geared especially towards you e.g. Bible studies and Sunday lunches every week with church families. 9 Highfields is a large evangelical church in the heart of student land, Cathays. We exist to glorify God by reaching people with the good news of Jesus, building people up in the knowledge of this good news and sending them out to live and share it. We have a large student ministry, with a student After 8 social after every Sunday evening service. On Wednesday evenings we have a student Bible study group called Nexus, where we meet for a meal, study the Bible and pray together. We also put on monthly events such as student lunches, host families, socials, & special events throughout the year, including going away to Word Alive & a weekend away. 11 We are an independent evangelical church. At Minster, we strive to be a worshipping, discipling, and witnessing community that is rooted in the truth of the Bible. Our church life is organised around that goal as we seek to reach out with good news to our wider community. There is a warm family-like feel to our church which is made up of people of different ages, nationalities, cultures and backgrounds. Minster people aren t perfect people, but rather people who have been transformed by the grace of God, who know new life in Jesus Christ, and who want to share that life with others. RBC is a vibrant family of faith that exists to play our part in making disciples of King Jesus in our city and nation. 12 We love Jesus and we love our city. We value family and friendships that make up our lives and those around us. On any given morning service you can expect a friendly warm welcome. We then spend time together in worship. We will share some church family news and updates. Then there will usually be someone at the front sharing their passion for the Christian faith. RCCG, our church denomination, has over 5000 parishes around the world.
