3 FAM-BAND 3 It is my aim to have this worship team be a family. With sacrifice, brokenness, forgiveness and LOVE. For us to all be in relationship with one another; to mentor, support and encourage each other. No-one is perfect, and we are so dearly loved by God that Jesus sacrificed Himself so that we could be His sons and His daughters, beloved. Holy Spirit within us, in communion with our spirits and amongst us. God is well-pleased with who we are, not what we do. When we worship, we worship to honour God: to praise Him and it is part of our relationship with Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit; our nature and created purpose. FREE & SPIRITED is a family of musicians, sound and media - all sorts - and we are here to love one another and shine God s light to those around us. ROLES OF WORSHIPPING This ministry is made up of a diverse range of worship positions and talents involving: Pianists, Sound/Media guys/gals, Powerpoint pros, Singers, Drummers, Rostering Rebels, Worship leaders, Bass players, Guitarists, Bongo drum aficionados, Banjo-ists and Flutists. See page 6-7 for responsibilities of fam-band members. All roles, talents and gifts are important! And if you have a talent unlisted, let s add it to our repertoire- all the better to joyfully and whole-heartedly worship!

4 4 PRACTICE TIMES 5.30pm Fridays prior to Youth (when worship is Church auditorium. Come at 5.30pm to prepare your music instrument and/or assist alongside members for set up. Practice starts 5.45pm and should finish by 6.30pm. Those rostered for the service are to attend.! Soundies please come at least 15 minutes prior to the stated practice time (i.e. 5.15pm) to set up sound and prepare cords and lines for instruments. The first Tuesday of each month during school term Church auditorium - check Facebook for announcements Practice starts with important announcements and prayer before rocking it out on stage.! Soundies please come at least 15 minutes prior to the stated practice time (i.e. 6.15pm) All welcome! At least two attendances to Tuesday and Friday practices is required by those wishing to be a member of this bangin team, and regular attendance for all members. Inform the worship leader via call, text, messenger or post on the facebook group when you are unable to attend practice with as much notice as you are able - LOVE a good bit of notice

5 ROSTERING 5 Rosters will aim to be completed at the beginning of each Term according to the planner set by the Youth Leadership Team, including the Family Pastor. A post will be made on facebook prior to the start of each Term for members to respond to and indicate their availability. Please advise of your availability and your requested number of services to be in each term e.g. 2 times a term I would like to play drums, kthnxbye A link is included to the current roster in the group description on facebook. Link to current roster: JAM SESSIONS & WORKSHOPS As time and commitments outside this ministry permit, we will organise opportunities for team members to come together and have a space to simply jam to some different songs - secular or worship (songs chosen by you!), in addition to providing workshops hosted by leaders or special guests to assist members develop skills, dynamics, or cable-rolling proficiency for pack-up ;). Check facebook for information as these opportunities arise. NEW WORSHIP SONGS On the current roster there is a list of songs suggested by leadership, fam-band members and Youth for your perusal. Each term, or semester, songs will be chosen to learn and worship. Link to current roster:

6 RESPONSIBILITIES OF FAM-BAND MEMBERS 6 WORSHIP LEADER Communicate with Sound/Tech, Words/Media, Singers and Musicians chosen songs and practice time by Tuesday latest ; 3 days before the Friday night of Youth Arrive 15 minutes prior to practice to sort files, liaise with Sound/Tech for set up Liaise with Family Pastor regarding the topic and structure of the Youth night up to one week prior. Family Pastor to initiate by Tuesday; 3 days before. Inform Sound/Tech of where you would like the fam-band set up (on the floor, on the stage etc.) by the Friday morning of the Youth night Advise Words/Media as of anticipated song structure (the lyrical order) or let them know your rough idea and to be attentive to your cues Report songs on Elvanto or CCLI by Sunday; 2 days after the Friday night of Youth SOUND/TECH To coordinate setup of sound equipment 15 minutes prior to practice time - setup sound desk, cords and lines for instruments (Desk > Interface > Computers > Speakers) Permitted to delegate tasks to musicians and singers who are available to assist

7 7 Supervise and perform sound duties throughout the night of Youth Play music on desk from 6.45pm and at close of night Adjust lighting as required throughout the night To coordinate pack up of worship sound equipment promptly at close of Youth night then sound desk and computer. (Speakers > Computers > Interface > Desk) Permitted to delegate tasks to singers and musicians who have completed their own pack up Liaise with Family Pastor if there is media to be sound-tested before start of night Liaise with Worship Leader and ask for set up of sound equipment if not already informed, Liaise with Words/Media as required WORDS/MEDIA Present at practice to organise order of songs (and song lyrics), additional media and slides on projector You must ask the Worship Leader and Family Pastor to advise if needed Set up the Thornlie Youth background and other needed media for Youth Coordinate time to test media with Sound/Tech and Worship Leader if time is short amongst the Leader s Meeting and Worship Practice Liaise with Sound/Tech as required

8 8 SINGERS Rock up and help set up at stated practice time; follow the direction of your Worship Leader or Sound/Tech. Assist Worship Leader with files once sound equipment and instruments are set up Ask your Worship Leader, Sound/Tech, Words/Media or fellow musicians how to help, and be proactive, if you have not been assigned a task Liaise with Sound/Tech for mic check at commencement of practice MUSICIANS Rock up at stated practice time and set up your instrument If time permits ask the Worship Leader, Sound/Tech and Words/Media persons if they need help, and be proactive, if you are available to assist Liaise with Sound/Tech for sound check of instrument at commencement of practice time Commence pack up of instruments, files and sound equipment at close of Youth, assisting with pack-up of all fam-band members up to 15 minutes past end of night

9 9 ALL FAM-BAND MEMBERS Relationship With Father, Son and Spirit: As we pray, worship and fellowship we journey into knowing more of who God is, then who we are - so loved by God to be given a new identity in Christ and be called His children - and we continue to discover purposes and desires placed by God in our hearts throughout our journey with Him ALSO Get to know the members of this cool dynamic team - us leaders/oldies won t bite! AND know your fellow youth that you do life with Friday nights. The response to our facilitating a space for worship will be stronger as youthies know you and you them - family-like :) Be punctual: A courtesy call/text/fb message/ to the worship leader would be really cool if you are running late to rehearsal Practice your worshipping ways: - and do not be afraid to ask for help! Continue to learn your songs and rehearse arrangements between music practice sessions If you are unfamiliar with a song just let us know and we can do some additional practice - we would love to help Prayer! If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
